DH refuses to address builders bum issues

DH has always had a bit of an issue with ill fitting jeans/shorts and his bumcrack on show. It's been years and every time I mention it he says he doesn't care and I feel bad for saying something BUT I find it embarrassing and now the DC are getting older I am embarrassed for them as well - also I don't think it right that other people have to see his hairy bum crack hanging out.
He won't wear trousers that go over his belly so they fit badly. Obviously finding better fitting clothes is the answer but if he won't even consider putting it away then what should I do?!

I wish they would make it illegal.

Why doesn’t he care if he’s showing his arse crack off??

mencken · 13/06/2020 20:12

cleavage of any kind isn't a pretty sight, and certainly no-one's arse is. (do you remember that awful phase of tatty thongs showing above trousers? Yuk!)

for the love of everyone who has to follow him about, he needs to cover up. Longer shirt left untucked?

thereisacrackineverything1 · 13/06/2020 20:12

Also if I wanted to wear low cut tops all the time then he would be unreasonable to tell me not to!

So AIBU to ask him to address this issue?!

How old are the kids? Surely they've pointed it out by now? Not stuffed anything down there?

Thingsdogetbetter · 13/06/2020 20:57

Extra long t-shirts! I'm not joking. It's the only way.

thereisacrackineverything1 · 13/06/2020 21:02

5 and 6 - they seem oblivious for now OR are growing up thinking it's normal...

I will order some extra long T-shirt's now.

Leave him alone op.if he came on here complaining you refused to cover up because he found you unsightly you'd undoubtedly be upset and offended.count his good points and be happy to be alive.🌻

recycledteenager24 · 13/06/2020 21:15

i'd be tempted to drop an ice cube down the offending area. Grin

heartsonacake · 13/06/2020 21:15

YABU. His body, his choice how he clothes it.

He doesn’t get to tell you what to wear or what to cover up and you don’t get to tell him.

ScrapThatThen · 13/06/2020 21:15

This topic seems to come up all the time recently. Weird. I guess the generation of the low hanging trousers grew up and had kids.

Nanny0gg · 13/06/2020 21:21

I just wouldn't go anywhere with him.

CharmerLlama · 13/06/2020 21:22

He doesn't care because he doesn't have to see it. Take some pictures and show him what everyone else is having to view.

Samtsirch · 13/06/2020 21:32

This thread is making me laugh 😂
It reminds me of an uncle who always had a builder’s bum.
His brothers used to get a coin out to ‘put a penny in the slot’
Every time it happened they’d all shout ‘has anyone got a penny ?’
😂

Jaxhog · 13/06/2020 21:49

Stick a flower in it. At least then it'll be decorative and garden appropriate.

DamnYankee · 13/06/2020 21:49

I'd be tempted to drop an ice cube down the offending area

^ This
The penny slot idea is also genius
Rope the kids in and make it a game!

skybluee · 13/06/2020 21:50

Does he hate wearing belts? Some of my jeans do this and I think it's bc I don't like wearing belts, not sure if men's jeans are cut differently though. Maybe buy him some nice belts?

livefornaps · 13/06/2020 21:52

Eurgh, does he do "bubbly" farts out of his hairy crack on display?

And the gut needs to GO AWAY

1Morewineplease · 13/06/2020 21:52

Is it any different from having cleavage hanging out though? I find that a bit annoying.

livefornaps · 13/06/2020 21:53

@1Morewineplease yeah but we don't fart out stink out a room from our tits

MrsGrindah · 13/06/2020 21:58

I bloody hate to see this. I firmly believe people know they are doing it too...you must feel the air on your arse! Nobody needs to see someone else’s bum crack. Wear jeans that fit FFS!

1Morewineplease · 13/06/2020 21:58

@livefornaps
OP never mentioned farting which will always be a problem for some whether their bums are covered or not.

GravityFalls · 13/06/2020 21:59

My exH used to have this issue. It was so unattractive and embarrassing. It just made me shrivel a bit every time I saw that hairy arse hanging out.

Now my DP is slim and wears proper-fitting trousers with a belt. No builder’s bottom issues at all. So much nicer!

livefornaps · 13/06/2020 22:03

@1Morewineplease, true, but farting out of a butt naked ass?????

FlamedToACrisp · 13/06/2020 22:03

We have a rule in our house - we understand we might see things non-family don't, but we just ignore them. So if we wear shorts, no one takes the piss out of our legs, if the men go topless, I don't make comments about big bellies, and if we see each other in nightwear or underwear, we just look away.

But when it's actual 'private bits' hanging out, and he already knows? No - I would say, "Eww... cover up, will you?" or yank his trousers up to cover his bum crack.

Or possibly a water squirter would do the trick!

1Morewineplease · 13/06/2020 22:06

@livefornaps
Sigh...
