That Eddie Redmayne is a self serving privileged prick?

Where was he when he took the part in the Danish Girl that could have gone to a trans woman and elevated an actor who otherwise has no options open to them? AIBU in thinking Eddie Redmayne is jumping on a misogynistic bandwagon when he doesn’t actually give a shit about trans people or their rights?

FWIW I do believe there’s a world where women’s rights and trans rights can live side by side and support each other but it speaks volumes that the cis-rich-White-Male-heterosexual parade comes out and tries to antagonise a situation between two social groups that their particular social
Group has oppressed and abused and dehumanised and humiliated for thousands of years? Daniel Radcliffe is no better - his response to the original JKR tweet even only refers to transwomen and doesn’t even mention transmen!!!

They say they all need to just listen and be educated when it comes to racism but when it comes to feminism they tell women to sit down and shut up while they mansplain and admonish, fuck them

Yes but only to women. They wouldn’t dare say it to men, of course!

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 11/06/2020 11:10

Some people interpret firm words from women as violence and death and rape threats and physical violence from men are self defense. There is absolutely no point in trying to convince those people to be less misogynistic in how they see the world, ime.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 11/06/2020 11:11

I have never threatened anyone with violence of any kind. I have never abused anyone, verbally or physically. I have never sought to intimidate, harass or denigrate any other human being, male or female. Neither has any other woman or feminist that I am acquainted with.

I have never threatened anyone with violence. I have never abused anyone.i have never sought to intimidate or harass anyone, neither has anyone I'm associated with.

It doesn't mean that it doesn't happen just because it doesnt happen in your particular circle though.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 11/06/2020 11:12

I'm on twitter - I've never once seen women send TRA's - choke on my cock tweets. I've never seen shut the fuck up cunts. etc etc.

Keep on lying.

You're so self absorbed you're not even reading my actual words, just making up you're own narrative.

Tianalia · 11/06/2020 11:12

No wonder Redmayne and Radcliffe picked that side, where they're safe from abuse.

For now. They'll turn on on them eventually too. They always doing. No-one is safe from the woke illogical rage. I remember walliams and Lucas coming down on the side of the woke. Now they've been well and truly cancelled.

Collidascope · 11/06/2020 11:13

Another one here who has never seen a feminist send death or rape threats or "shut the fuck up." Let's not pretend this is six of one and half a dozen of the other.

Ninkanink · 11/06/2020 11:13

My circle is a lot wider than you might think.

The fact is, violence in all its forms is a male problem. It will always be a male problem. Take your issues up with the male demographic and stop pretending that women routinely do and say violent things in any meaningful numbers. They do not.

WatchoutfortheROUS · 11/06/2020 11:20

Rich, white men telling women what a woman is, and in doing so giving away their rights to, well, men in some cases. Mainsplaining at it's finest Angry

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 11/06/2020 11:21

My circle spans multiple continents, and yet still curiously does not contain the hordes of violent women who exist in TRA lore.

CockCarousel · 11/06/2020 11:22

You're so self absorbed you're not even reading my actual words, just making up you're own narrative.

So in your actual words, can you briefly outline these times when you've experienced women threatening men with bats, rape threats and death? I for one would be very interested to hear it.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 11/06/2020 11:24

I take my issues up with whoever impacts my life.

Stop trying to erase my actual lived experiences because it doesn't suit your views. You're just as bad as the people you are so against.

BigGee · 11/06/2020 11:26

One thing this whole period has taught me.

Men (males with penises and testicles and all the hairy bits, etc) are

COWARDS.

SarahMcDonald · 11/06/2020 11:27

Women saying things that men disagree with IS literal violence. So of course TRAs are entitled to assault them or threaten To kill them or their children.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 11/06/2020 11:28

I never said that I had experienced that at all.

Helmetbymidnight · 11/06/2020 11:29

Have you seen how much abuse transgender people, and anyone who supports them gets also.

I haven't seen TRA's being threatened by women on SM at all, never. I haven't seen an outpouring of rape and murder threats, no.
I haven't seen a deluge of 'choke on my cock' tweets to Daniel Radcliffe, Eddie Redmayne or Emma Watson.

It's not all one sided.

Seriously, you're sticking with the idea that women habitually send death-threats to TRA's? I hope someone somewhere is collating them all.

JemimaShore · 11/06/2020 11:30

For the love of god, JKR was expressing her opinions about PERIODS which are experienced only by biological women. It was the translobby that weighed in and called her transphobic for doing so. They drew her into defending biological reality, then called her transphobic for doing so. There is nothing controversial about what she said.

Absolutely agree! It's so ridiculous when you think about it.

Cailleach1 · 11/06/2020 11:30

They engaged in commentary on Trans issues (somewhat disingenuously taking it out of context) tangentially shoehorning it as integral to JKR's communication. It wasn't. She was speaking up for women rights, but that an irritation for men in all their assorted glory.

Why are they silent on the vile and violent abuse JKR is receiving? Looks like condoning abuse towards women. Same old beast with a new dress. Wolf in Red Riding Hood as Grandma. Plus ca change.

Helmetbymidnight · 11/06/2020 11:31

You're just as bad as the people you are so against.

So saying that women haven't been threatening to choke TRA's to death is exactly the same as threatening to choke women to death?

FFS

TheProdigalKittensReturn · 11/06/2020 11:32

You're meant to pretend that you can't see the teeth. Men get very angry when women point out that we can, and that goes for ideologies as well as people.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 11/06/2020 11:32

Any individual can present as either gender. That’s fine. This however doesn’t make you the opposite sex to that you’re born as and gives you no entitlement whatsoever to claim the name of that sex, entry to spaces legally permitted for that sex and should not get you places in sport permitted for that sex. You have no right to police language based on proven biological facts because it upsets you.

Women have been trying to fight against male violence which kills two of us every week. EVERY WEEK. Why are TW not helping that fight? Why are men like ER and DR not shouting about this violence?

I’m sorry if my fear for my DD being in an enclosed space with an undressed man and there’s bugger all she can say about it, is “part of the problem”. I’m sorry if my belief that a TW should campaign for their own space following sexual abuse or trauma is “part of the problem”. Third spaces are the only solution which come even close to a compromise however if TRAs and their allies put their energy into fighting male violence and misogyny, you know like women have been doing for years, that would help massively and show us their safety isn’t at our expense.

as women we have lots to lose so I will push back anything which threatens our safety and boundaries. I’m sorry if that’s a problem for some.

CockCarousel · 11/06/2020 11:33

I would love to hear Difficults answer, they said they had direct experience of organised groups of women being violent towards men who they disagreed with.

Ninkanink · 11/06/2020 11:33

Take it up with those people that you have experienced it from, of course, male or female. That’s the prerogative of every individual. But don’t extrapolate your limited lived experiences to try to tell me that my position is equivalent to that of TRAs and the huge number of men who routinely use actual, physical (e.g. literal) violence and actual, violent language and threats to intimidate and harass, bully and silence women for wanting to be safe and pushing back against their calculated oppression.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 11/06/2020 11:33

Helmetbymidnight do you often come online and just make stuff up. Look at my words and not what you wish I was saying.

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 11/06/2020 11:35

Grin did I?

Oh I'm sorry, you didn't say that?
