Am I alone here?

I am utterly disgusted by what I have seen in the news.

nope not disgusted
People are angry and have every right to be, all this shit has gone on long enough
Asking nicely for change doesn’t do anything, thjnk of the people are were enslaved, the Suffragettes, LGBTQ community. asking nicely diddnt do anything so this is the way that stuff goes.

so no not disgusted at all, people know that there’s a risk but sometimes you have to balance up what’s more important

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/06/2020 13:17

@MadameMarie yes it does, because it's to do with systemic racism and that is prevalent in the UK as well as the US.

beachmist · 08/06/2020 13:17

@Stuckforthefourthtime do you mean the picture? I haven't read every single post on this thread, admittedly. I just saw the post about "hating half of yourself" and thought it was an awful thing to say.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/06/2020 13:18

@MadameMarie oh, and the whole "nothing to do with us" attitude is an issue in itself. Silence is compliance.

Lifeisconfusing · 08/06/2020 13:18

@Stuckforthefourthtime
I’m half black half white

Of course you are 😉.
And if you really are it must be difficult hating half of yourself.

So this is an acceptable thing to say is it?

GreytExpectations · 08/06/2020 13:20

@MadameMarie please go and educate yourself. This issue is about systemic racism which is very much an issue here. You are very ignorant to think the George Floyd murder has nothing to do with the UK.

Lifeisconfusing · 08/06/2020 13:20

@Stuckforthefourthtime I apologised for posting that pic I just wanted to get across that it’s not just racism against black far from it.

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking Well I’m not one of those fake people but you only have my word of course. I just want people to understand that white /mixed race people are targets for racism too.

pigoons · 08/06/2020 13:27

So protesters, if you didn't socially distance and relied on masks for protection, what happens when Covid-19 spreads like wildfire again, probably affecting the BAME community disproprotionately - will we hear it is all society's fault or will you stand up and take personal responsibility for your actions?

ilovemydogandMrObama · 08/06/2020 13:28

The statue of Colston will most likely end up in the M Shed, which is a museum in Bristol that has living history, like a section on the slave trade, emigration, interactive parts about the city's history.

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking are you white? Not asking to be nasty I’m just curious

Lifeisconfusing · 08/06/2020 13:34

@pigoons this is the biggest problem here crowds and crowds of people gathering and undoing all the hard work. My grandfather died 3 weeks ago and we could go to his funeral as a family he was a war hero and he was loved by many many people he didn’t get the send of he deserved and these ignorant twats do care. It’s also putting more financial pressure on the government

Lifeisconfusing · 08/06/2020 13:34

We couldn’t go and they don’t care.

AllesAusLiebe · 08/06/2020 13:34

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking this is the third time that you have used the phrase, ‘educate yourself’ on this thread.

Firstly, you are implying that those of us who disagree with your stance require an education, which is extremely rude and I have no idea why you think that anyone is going to be sympathetic to your cause if all you are prepared to do is throw out condescending remarks.

What exactly do you mean by this?

DestinationFkd · 08/06/2020 13:36

The only thing I feel sorry for is the horse and it's rider.

Lifeisconfusing · 08/06/2020 13:38

@AllesAusLiebe maybe she’s a teacher 😂

Feel disgusted at a horse having a bicycle and a brick thrown at its face yes absolutely.

pigoons · 08/06/2020 13:40

@Lifeisconfusing
Sorry about your grandfather - I haven't lost anyone but have had friends in hospital with Covid (luckily pulled through) and I am so angry about the disregard for Covid protection measure. There are other ways to protest ...

AllesAusLiebe · 08/06/2020 13:42

@Lifeisconfusing cheers for that - coffee all over now! 😂

When my mother was a child it was a very racist set up if a black person did walk near you apparently people used to cross the street. We only really had white people in Britain at that time so seeing a black person was allient to them, my mothers father would say to them ( don’t be bringing any woggle toggle gypsies to my house) how disgusting is that? My mother married a black man and had 4 children her father obviously wasn’t happy but he he was brought up like that. These days children are mixed with all races so it’s no big deal.

Lifeisconfusing · 08/06/2020 13:49

@Smilethoyourheartisbreaking I respect you and your opinions I really do. I hate racism but I don’t think it’s just against black. My friend is Chinese and she gets racist remarks bless her.
