Are a couple of pre rolled spliffs acceptable remuneration in this time?

Obviously lighthearted but also a dilemma.

We acquired a beautiful set of free bunk beds for our dc from a local selling site. Completely free. We don’t have much to offer in return and the guy looked like a lovely older middle class hippy type. We have a lot of decent weed on us.

I think it would be just what a bloke like him in lockdown would really want but dh isnot so sure.

Those that used to enjoy a smoke but have nothing on them in lock down. Wouldn’t this be a lovely thank you?

Erm...What if he's a police man op? 🤣

FreeKitties · 08/06/2020 08:47

Oh yes lol drugs are so funny and anyone who uses them is soooo cool and together you know.

OP spend some time reading around ‘county lines’ drugs are the utter scourge of the country and damaging thousands of young people’s lives, and anyone involved in that chain is as culpable as those profiting from it.

It’s not good enough to dismiss this by saying well weed should be legalised because right now it isn’t and right now there are kids whose lives are being torn apart because of gang culture and bloody drugs.

YABVU.

Lighthearted bit of harmless fun?
Think again.

If you buy Cannabis you are part of a huge modern slavery problem.

Not exactly fare trade is it?

GalesThisMorning · 08/06/2020 08:50

Why not? Lockdown gold! I certainly wouldn't expect anything if I was offering free furniture but it would be a kind offer gratefully received!

To all those saying its unimaginable and not in my world etc etc in my world it would just be seen as a kind, generous thing to do in a difficult time and I can't imagine anyone judging.

Ireolu · 08/06/2020 08:51

Lots of people on their high horses keen to call the police! Some people have way too much time on their hands

This thread to me has been funny. I don't smoke any thing but who am I to judge other people's choices. I personally wouldn't even if he gives off a hippie vibe.

LadyofTheManners · 08/06/2020 08:54

@MoonBaby1 I would be fine with it. I hadn't had so much as a fag in 20 years until lockdown, but I've been so bored and pissed off that I've had a little smoke again a couple of times a week.
Better to my mind than going to the GP for antidepressants at a time like this.
Can't hurt to ask

SerenDippitty · 08/06/2020 08:59

This 'get him a bottle of wine' shit is priceless, btw. What if he's a recovering alcoholic? IME being drunk is far more dangerous than being stoned. Bloody hypocrites, I tell you.

By the same token what if he is a recovering drug addict?

3LittleMonkeyz · 08/06/2020 09:00

I really wouldn't. For every person that would be grateful, there is somebody else who is a recovering addict, somebody else who is a pearl clutcher, and another who is an off duty police officer. You really cannot tell whether somebody is a weed smoker or not by whether they are wearing cords and sporting a pony tail, or whatever. It's sloppy stereotyping

Test321 · 08/06/2020 09:02

I don't smoke any thing but who am I to judge other people's choices.

The child slaves that are kidnapped, trafficked and forced to work in hidden cannabis farms across the UK don't have a choice. Sad

I don't think that's the point. I think the point was that lots of people are quick to suggest just getting a bottle of wine instead as if that's so much better when really it's not and he could just as easily be a recovering alcoholic but no one thinks about that before suggesting it.
theemmadilemma · 08/06/2020 09:04

@test321 Not everyone does. Some people have supplies from growers they know, have seen where it's grown and it's a small independent grower.

borntohula · 08/06/2020 09:14

@SerenDippitty the question 'what if he's a recovering addict' has already come up. I don't know for certain but given that it seems more socially acceptable to get wasted on booze than high on weed, he's probably statistically more likely to be a recovering alcoholic (though hopefully neither!).

Also, don't understand why anyone thinks being open about smoking weed is an attempt to be 'cool.' No one talks like that when a poster mentions having a glass of wine. Other than the fact that weed is technically illegal (never known anyone jailed or even arrested for using it), why is it so much worse than regular alcohol use?

WikkiTikkiWoo · 08/06/2020 09:17

Can you be my friend??

SerenDippitty · 08/06/2020 09:19

You don’t need to get drunk to enjoy a drink, but getting stoned is the whole point of using weed, unless I have misunderstood?

AintNoMaryPoppins · 08/06/2020 09:19

Other than the fact that weed is technically illegal (never known anyone jailed or even arrested for using it)

I've a few police officers in the family. They have all said previously that the police really don't give a shit (don't have time to) about people smoking weed. Selling it is another thing of course but no you're not likely to get arrested for smoking a spliff in your own house/garden, even if they know about it.

borntohula · 08/06/2020 09:21

@SerenDippitty why do you think people choose to drink alcohol rather than just stick to soft drinks?

Dougalthesyrianhamster · 08/06/2020 09:23

Getting manky free beds for your kids but can afford plenty of good quality weed? Get your priorities straight. It amazes me sometimes the grabbers out there when their are actually people that are desperate for free stuff but you're banning it so you can get stoned....fucking shameless.

THIS Hmm

SerenDippitty · 08/06/2020 09:27

@borntohula personally Idrink alcohol for the taste. If you could get alcohol free wine that’s indistinguishable from the real thing I outdone buy it.

So am I wrong that the point of smoking weed is to get stoned?

FlapAttack23 · 08/06/2020 09:27

No that’s an absolutely beyond stupid idea of course . Here.. have some illegal drugs as a thank you on the basis that I am stereotyping you and assume you smoke it ... honestly what is wrong with you

carexfairex · 08/06/2020 09:27

Makes perfect sense.

FlapAttack23 · 08/06/2020 09:30

Sell some of your high quality weed and buy him some hippie crochet hats instead ideally in Jamaican colours

BluebellsareBlue · 08/06/2020 09:30

Well that would make you concerned in the supply of a class B drug. If you offered me that I'd be reporting you to the police, but then of course I'm a recently retired officer and find drugs and the lives they ruin abhorrent, no matter the class.

borntohula · 08/06/2020 09:35

@SerenDippitty you might, a lot of people would choose alcoholic wine over alcohol free, even if they tasted the same. Because for a lot of people, it gives them a 'buzz' and makes them feel relaxed. That's why people smoke weed as well. I don't drink or smoke at the moment but I've done both and too much alcohol turns me into a mess where too much weed sends me to sleep.
