Are a couple of pre rolled spliffs acceptable remuneration in this time?

Obviously lighthearted but also a dilemma.

We acquired a beautiful set of free bunk beds for our dc from a local selling site. Completely free. We don’t have much to offer in return and the guy looked like a lovely older middle class hippy type. We have a lot of decent weed on us.

I think it would be just what a bloke like him in lockdown would really want but dh isnot so sure.

Those that used to enjoy a smoke but have nothing on them in lock down. Wouldn’t this be a lovely thank you?

I don't think you need to give him anything - you've already done him a favour by saving him a trip to the tip.

Also I wouldn't make assumptions about whether he smokes weed just based on his appearance, you could put him in an awkward position.

HereComesSimon · 08/06/2020 07:45

@AintNoMaryPoppins

As long as the children are in the house, they will be able to smell it. I can smell weed from a good distance it's so strong.

AtLastEarwax · 08/06/2020 07:49

This is a troll surely?? Or a double dare to post it?
YABU, no doubt about it.

In a bag, in a tin, in my bedroom wardrobe. No you could not smell it through the rest of the house.

I have (pre lockdown) lots of people in and out of my house, including police officer family members who definitely would mention it if they could smell it (if only to joke about it most likely). You can't smell it when it's shut away like that.

HereComesSimon · 08/06/2020 07:54

@AintNoMaryPoppins obviously I mean when it's being smoked !

AtLastEarwax · 08/06/2020 07:54

Just want to add. I leave free stuff outside my door for people. I want rid ASAP. I don't want a conversation with anyone to give free stuff out of my door, cba. I've got three children who need my time. Someone did post a chocolate bar once, nice thought but if it had been a splif or a bag or whatever term it is I would be horrified and disgusted

MingeofDeath · 08/06/2020 07:55

Brave of you to ask that question with the large amount of ignorant, sanctimonious, pearl clutchers on here. However if your dopedar is tingling then this chap probably enjoys a smoke. Perhaps not pre rolled, he might not use tobacco, offer him a bit of green instead and he can consume how he pleases.

AintNoMaryPoppins · 08/06/2020 07:55

And my point was, where has OP said she smokes it in her 'children's presence' as you said?

TheQueef · 08/06/2020 07:57

You should have said a few cans of Stella OP Hmm
Now about that surplus of grass.....I shall PM my address to avoid any potential further faux pas.

CloudsCanLookLikeSheep · 08/06/2020 07:59

I think it's a bit weird if you don't know him from Adam.

It's also technically illegal so why take the risk?

HereComesSimon · 08/06/2020 08:00

@AintNoMaryPoppins FFS we've all been in lockdown, where else have the children been!

NekoShiro · 08/06/2020 08:02

If you knew them then obviously yes but if you don't it could be a bit of aaa stretch, could offer them and if they react badly say it was a joke? I don't know, could go really well, could end up in flames.

AintNoMaryPoppins · 08/06/2020 08:03

Well if we're being technical, mine have been at their other parents a few times, as have DHs.

There's a very big difference though between saying smoking it in the presence of children, which suggests the children are there, awake, in the room and aware of it, and smoking a spliff out in the garden when they are asleep in bed. The two are very different imo.

LunaNorth · 08/06/2020 08:10

I’ve got a nice office chair and a set of vinyl album frames going free to a good home, OP.

chickensaresafehere · 08/06/2020 08:10

Hilarious!!
You lot never fail . . . .
I'd be delighted if you offered me weed for my old bunk beds.
Put this in classics MN.

Rosehip10 · 08/06/2020 08:26

People who smoke weed are common.

MoonBaby1 · 08/06/2020 08:28

A few people missed the obviously lighthearted header.

The hyperbole on here is hilarious!

We decided to drop off some (not weed) home grown fruit and veg later in the season Smile

Well yes there are quite a lot of people who smoke it, so I guess you could say it's common... Grin
ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 08/06/2020 08:33

Do real people actually think like this? Honestly? I can't imagine anyone I know actually even conceiving of this, let alone thinking it acceptable, it's just not... real in my world.

SuperSharpShooter · 08/06/2020 08:34

Brilliant! This thread got it all 😂
I need this this morning (whilst enjoying my morning spliff and coffee 😜)

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 08/06/2020 08:35

I'm not on a wind up honestly, I just can't imagine it. I've been sheltered I know.

yelyah22 · 08/06/2020 08:40

Judging by their posts I think a decent proportion of mumsnetters spend their life with their knickers firmly wedged up their arse and are FURIOUS about it.

OP, I think it was a nice idea IF you've judged him correctly (and I feel like people have a good sense of these things). Wouldn't say no to the fruit and veg either though!

AintNoMaryPoppins · 08/06/2020 08:41

Just be glad you're not common muck like some of us on this thread Grin

Our children are obviously all neglected, Oliver Twist types begging for scraps whilst us parents spend all our money on weed. Mine don't even have beds, I usually just lie the dustbin flat and get them to crawl in. It's a bit of a squeeze when it starts to get a bit full before it's emptied but the rubbish makes for good insulation in the cold.

yelyah22 · 08/06/2020 08:42

ImFree I'm interested, is it that you don't know of anyone who smokes, or that you don't know anyone who would talk about it openly? I don't personally smoke (can't, makes me throw up) but I know who of my friends/colleagues/acquaintances do and it's not a secret. Even the straitlaced barristers and doctors (shock horror).

SoberCurious · 08/06/2020 08:43

@Rosehip10 do you mean "common" like working class? Or "common" like ubiquitous?
