Mulling this over as I look through job listings. I think for me it is enjoying fitness classes at different expensive studios, well pre covid it was. Not sure when we will be able to do that again! But I really enjoy it so much and it is definitely not an essential, I'm fortunate to be able to do so. We do live in an eye-wateringly expensive area so I guess that is partly a luxury, although we do need to live in this city for my partner's work.

What would you say is the most luxury aspect of your lifestyle?

OP posts:
peak2021 · 16/03/2021 13:19

Spending more on hotels than I really need to when travelling.

Toptotoeunicolour · 16/03/2021 13:20

In lockdown it's expensive knitting yarn.
Otherwise clothes, food, skincare.

thecatandthevicar · 16/03/2021 13:22

Sports bras are not an indulgence! They are an absolute necessity.

Bluefargo · 16/03/2021 13:22

Cleaner!

annonnymous · 16/03/2021 13:24

expensive watercolour paints and pencils.

PinotLover · 16/03/2021 13:26

Not many indulgences at the moment as we recently bought our forever home and we love it. Beautiful garden, and just so happy here.

Indulgences I will have as soon as we finish the house are fresh flowers regularly, manicure, spa days, nice holidays. We've gone down to being a one car household as we just don't need two at the moment with lockdown and WFH etc. Feel so grown up making sensible choices over things that I want to keep just because i like them Smile

ivykaty44 · 16/03/2021 13:28

OP

precovid I had a membership at an expensive local golf club and gym, I used it frequently on average 4x per week and at times doubled up on classes. Then a swim afterwards with sauna and jacuzzi

I haven't been for just over a year, I hired equipment and walk, run and cycle - tbh I haven't missed it as much as I thought I would.

Coffee machine, a simple pod machine and jug milk brother, thats my luxury through lockdowns, I rarely though get coffee to takeaway and its much cheaper at home even so

Doggitydog · 16/03/2021 13:29

My motorbike, I don’t need it as I have a car but it’s mine and I love it x

Theonlyoneiknow · 16/03/2021 13:29

Food - at the moment specifically getting pick and mix delivered!

Sixtyorforty · 16/03/2021 13:30

Food - eating out!

ivykaty44 · 16/03/2021 13:33

@poppycat10 still cheaper than a gym membership, I hired a spin bike for the winter (it goes back next month) I used it regular and have enjoyed the GCN classes most of all. Even my daughter who is all about resistance and weight training has used the bike every day for 20 minutes.

my worry with a turbo trainer was whether Id be able to stand up on the bike - my cheap second hand turbo trainer is to flimsy

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 16/03/2021 13:33

My car

Bouledeneige · 16/03/2021 13:34

Eating out. Wine. Holidays. I didn't have a lot of holidays but when I did I liked to do very nice ones.

cathybates · 16/03/2021 13:34

Used to be food, main eating out pre-covid. Still is food but now eating in.

Probs also house (though we are looking at the moment) - we drive crappy second hand cars as think cars a waste of money, so much rather spend on house

Oh and the kids basically get everything they need without question

allfurcoatnoknickers · 16/03/2021 13:35

Living in Manhattan (I'm an expat). It is bonkers expensive and a totally stupid luxury, but I love it.

Wouldn't trade my central flat for a 4 bed in a suburbs for anything, even though it would make more fiscal sense.

cathybates · 16/03/2021 13:35

And I also had a PT pre covid which I’ll be starting again - £40 for 45 mins

Geekgirlmum · 16/03/2021 13:36

Going out to eat regularly and travel! Both obviously not currently happening

FourTeaFallOut · 16/03/2021 13:37

Having three children, I guess. After that, holidays in usual times and decorating over the last year.

Truthlikeness · 16/03/2021 13:38

Foreign travel. I'd spend a few thousand pounds a year in normal times. Not fancy hotels but activities and interesting locations.

notalwaysalondoner · 16/03/2021 13:46

Pre Covid probably eating out. We also travel a lot and to very exotic destinations but don’t spend a lot when we do.

Now it’s takeaways. Plus we just bought a second house in the country, but we’d previously been going to upsize anyway, Covid just persuaded us to get two properties instead of one big one due to WFH.

Jenjenn · 16/03/2021 13:51

Working pt. My free afternoons cost 1600 a month

Zenithbear · 16/03/2021 13:51

Our home
Campervan
Motorbikes
Holiday cottage
Long haul holidays
Social life

Hersetta427 · 16/03/2021 13:53

Pre Covid it was holidays. At least 3 a year plus 2-3 weekends in Spain which I don't count as a holiday as it was visiting my Mum. I try not to use a single day of my annual leave being in this country. Covid screwed all that up big time and i carried forward 14 days into 2021. Planning to be away for 4 weeks out of the 6 weeks summer holidays as long as we are allowed to.

Squirrel26 · 16/03/2021 13:54

Horse and dog. I’ve just bought the horse a £200 rug. My winter coat is 5 years old. My dog only eats grain-free, premium quality food and treats. I mainly eat cheese sandwiches. Grin

Cosmos45 · 16/03/2021 13:59

It used to be my horse but she passed away 3 years ago and I am unlikely to get another now - so now it's my Peloton bike.
