Mulling this over as I look through job listings. I think for me it is enjoying fitness classes at different expensive studios, well pre covid it was. Not sure when we will be able to do that again! But I really enjoy it so much and it is definitely not an essential, I'm fortunate to be able to do so. We do live in an eye-wateringly expensive area so I guess that is partly a luxury, although we do need to live in this city for my partner's work.

What would you say is the most luxury aspect of your lifestyle?

Clothes, aldi, and premium subscriptions to everything.

LittleGwyneth · 16/03/2021 11:22

@nonevernotever I'm so sorry for the loss of your horse Flowers

intheenddoesitreallymatter · 16/03/2021 11:23

Pre-lockdown it was clothes and eating out. Nothing wild but I liked to fritter.

That's all changed during lockdown.

Now it's my laptop - I replaced my old macbook when it broke with a brand spanking all singing all dancing rose gold upgrade and I love it more than anything else in the world. Whether I can use it properly or not is an entirely different matter!

Needhelp101 · 16/03/2021 11:23

Really enjoyed reading this thread. You lot have inspired me to start stashing some money away so when we can travel again, the DC and I can have a really indulgent holiday.

For me, it's books, gardening stuff, cooking stuff, books about gardening and cooking stuff and guinea pigs. I have 8 🤭

littlefireseverywhere · 16/03/2021 11:23

Cleaner, shopping at waitrose & m&s. Holidays again..one day.

Flaunch · 16/03/2021 11:24

I spend a bloody fortune on my garden.

2bazookas · 16/03/2021 11:24

World travel ( before covid). Food, wine, books, fresh flowers, pure linen bedding and clothing, goosedown pillows.

thecatandthevicar · 16/03/2021 11:27

HOLIDAYS!

I have never called them a luxury, they are a necessity in my books, but as soon as that pandemic is over, I am never having another "staycation" and waste a holiday in the UK.
Life is too short, what's the point of working if you can't go away as often as possible? (which is not enough)

My hair, spending a couple of £100 regularly is an indulgence, but it's worth it.

My kids maybe?

Cars, DH and I having our own car each (too small to fit the entire family in one go) is an indulgence. We do have a family car obviously, I don't make the kids run behind

mumontherun14 · 16/03/2021 11:28

@Thankfucksummerishere sorry about your horse that's a shame.

Yes for us its our horses. Constant unexpected bills for different things but wouldn't change it for the world. They've been a joy to have in lockdown.x

Splicedbananas · 16/03/2021 11:29

Massages and holidays

countrygirl99 · 16/03/2021 11:29

Another one with a horse. But he's getting old now. So am I so I won't buy another, goodness knows what I will do with my time.

Cowbells · 16/03/2021 11:29

Used to be having a PT but now I do online live classes at a fraction of the price and will join local bootcamp when it reopens.

Apart from that wine, eating out, theatre and art shows, concerts and gigs.

LittleGwyneth · 16/03/2021 11:31

I do a Zara order about once a month. Multiple taxis per week, fancy gym membership, fresh flowers most of the time, £12 wine, monthly massage. Am hoping to have babies but not looking forward to having to economise on all of those things.

MirandaWestsNewBFF · 16/03/2021 11:36

At the moment it’s getting professional decorators in rather than DIY for our home refurb. Usually it’s books and clothes although I haven’t had much opportunity to indulge recently as the money has all been going towards the refurb!

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 16/03/2021 11:38

Good ingredients (I rarely eat out) and the kitchen equipment I need to still be able to cook despite the impact of hand arthritis.

5zeds · 16/03/2021 11:40

My children. I have lots.

PissTestRightNowDaniella · 16/03/2021 11:41

Fancy soap, both bar and liquid.

My MIL thinks I'm insane spending a tenner on a bottle of hand soap when she spends a quid in Lidl for stuff that does the same thing...

Manzanilla55 · 16/03/2021 11:42

Certain Elemis skincare products for my face plus monthly deep tissue massage and pedicure. The latter applies once The beauty salon re-opens.

2bazookas · 16/03/2021 11:43
@peaceanddove really sad to hear you think goose feather quilts are a luxury. They're horribly cruel.
Sorry to hear you 're unaware .

Our very expensive family gym membership in a local spa hotel, but totally work it.

ClarkeGriffin · 16/03/2021 11:46

Another one with a horse. No idea how I'll afford him if we have kids. He's bloody expensive. Grin
