Mulling this over as I look through job listings. I think for me it is enjoying fitness classes at different expensive studios, well pre covid it was. Not sure when we will be able to do that again! But I really enjoy it so much and it is definitely not an essential, I'm fortunate to be able to do so. We do live in an eye-wateringly expensive area so I guess that is partly a luxury, although we do need to live in this city for my partner's work.

What would you say is the most luxury aspect of your lifestyle?

@Funtcase95

Drifting isn't my thing but I've done a few track days in a friend's rallycross car and loved it.

Holidays in the sun-it does more for my mental health than my anti depressants, and I’m buying good quality clothes and shoes. I spent £150 on a dress for an occasion without batting an eyelid, which a couple of years ago would have been unthinkable. I’ve never bought a huge amount of clothes, but I’ve discovered a great supplier of good quality plus size clothes so I’d rather buy fewer good quality than lots of fast fashion

👍👍👍

Hope you are able to have a holiday in the sun soon @JudgeRindersMinder.

Getting my nails done

Patriciathestripper1 · 16/03/2021 08:35

My horses. But I class them as an essential now as the have kept my family sane being able to go out and ride during these awful Covid times

Crinkletinkle · 16/03/2021 09:08

Really good quality sheets and duvets, coffee and tea, hairdresser, and moisturizer. Subscriptions to Audible and Headspace. Yoga classes and retreats.

CuriouslyGinger · 16/03/2021 09:14

Food.

Although I'd say one is also the house. I like spending money on the house when it's not strictly necessary. Redecorating etc... Spending spree in the home sections at places like Next are my idea of a good shopping spree.

honeylulu · 16/03/2021 09:18

My house. Moved in as a doer-upper two years ago. Have done the stuff we said we'd do. Then the OK bits looked shabby so now doing those. Then the outside looked shabby so now doing that. After that I expect we'll need to overhaul the garden and patio. Then some of the first things will need a little touch up. Never ending!

Have spent a bloody fortune but its been worth it. This is definitely the last house! We're here all the time now and can enjoy it, plus have been able to splurge what we would have spent on holidays meals out and childcare.

Holidays.

We did not travel much until DS1 was aged about 7. (Just too busy). I found myself overwhelmed with envy at a facebook friend who jetted off all over the place with her 3 kids and then thought my envy was clearly showing me what I wanted! So since then I put money aside and we go on family holidays. In the past 4 years we have been to;

Lapland
Spain
France
Australia
Greece
Guernsey

Plus a few UK mini breaks (Northumberland remains a highlight for it's sheer beauty).

Last year we were supposed to go to Holland, and Cyprus (bloody Covid).

Travelling and showing the world to my boys makes me so so happy.

Mary46 · 16/03/2021 09:32

@nonevernotever sorry to hear of your horse

changi · 16/03/2021 09:34

Gym membership. Car with silly road tax.

Thecazelets · 16/03/2021 09:43

Detached house. Could move to a perfectly lovely terrace or semi and be mortgage free with cash to spare, but it's been a luxury worth paying for.

Reinventinganna · 16/03/2021 09:50

Books, hair appointments and gym classes.

Bee2543 · 16/03/2021 09:50

I like to treat myself to some fresh flowers, recently just daffodils but they make the house look lovely and its a treat to me.

Oly4 · 16/03/2021 09:55

Food, clothes and holidays..

30PercentRecycled · 16/03/2021 09:57

Digging the beds for feminism (donating to crowdfunders without worrying how I will pay the gas bill this month).

Woodworking equipment. I am not a professional carpenter or joiner. It's just a hobby.

Courses on maths and computing just for the fun of it.

Posh makeup and skincare.

Fabulous shoes.

Elbels · 16/03/2021 09:58

Wine

Aesop hand soap

Expensive shampoo and conditioner

edwinbear · 16/03/2021 09:58

Private school fees. I can't think of anything I'd rather invest my money in, than DC's education.

NuclearDH · 16/03/2021 10:01

Expensive gym membership, £130 a month just for me but worth every penny.

Leonberger · 16/03/2021 10:05

It was my horse but she died and I haven’t been able to replace her due to finances/houses/children. One day though!!

Now I would say my dogs. I have 3 which cost about £300 per month Hmm
Could have had a horse for that actually!!

Kindperson · 16/03/2021 10:17

Facial fillers done by a consultant surgeon. Makes a huge difference as I naturally look tired and miserable

earthyfire · 16/03/2021 10:22

Having my hair cut and coloured every 6 weeks, holidays, takeaways/eating out

Kindperson · 16/03/2021 10:24

Also, travel bubble holidays as live in the middle east and work for an airline. Worth every penny to have a long weekend in a Covid free environment and supporting tourism.

therocinante · 16/03/2021 10:26

Our bloody expensive cats (they're rescued moggies, so not expensive to buy, but they eat like kings and are a small fortune to insure).

That or probably that we have every streaming service going. We live an exciting life Grin

Spasiba · 16/03/2021 10:26

My motorbike.
