Mulling this over as I look through job listings. I think for me it is enjoying fitness classes at different expensive studios, well pre covid it was. Not sure when we will be able to do that again! But I really enjoy it so much and it is definitely not an essential, I'm fortunate to be able to do so. We do live in an eye-wateringly expensive area so I guess that is partly a luxury, although we do need to live in this city for my partner's work.

What would you say is the most luxury aspect of your lifestyle?

Neom products
Fancy coffee

imarocketman50 · 07/06/2020 18:38

Books and gadgets. Post lockdown it will be regular haircuts to keep my hair in good condition - twice a year was the norm for me.

Bigsighall · 07/06/2020 18:50

Another horse owner checking in!
3 on diy livery which is bloody hard work. I try and keep the costs to the minimum but there’s no denying they are a luxury!!

Lordamighty · 07/06/2020 18:55

Eating out & holidays, currently £5k up since lockdown. I really need to look at the food budget.

RUShuwah000 · 07/06/2020 18:59

Silk scarves, jewellery and good skincare products. Thank goodness for online retailers! I do miss the holidays, mostly for my DD but lockdown is temporary and we're blessed to have our health.

ChiaraRimini · 07/06/2020 19:08

Nice house in a good area. I don't have a lot of spare cash so no pet, cleaner, gym membership, beauty treatments, sky tv, expensive clothes or holidays but I'd rather spend the money on the thing I spend most time in, especially at the moment!

thatmustbenigelwiththebrie · 07/06/2020 19:18

Working part time even though I'm single and have no kids. I earn a lot less but have loads more time to do my hobbies and enjoy my life.

JoeExoticsTiger · 07/06/2020 19:24

It would have been my horse, but she sadly passed away in April. ☹️ Leaving me devastated.

I would say probably the horse riding that I do locally, which is probably the most expensive thing.

Oh and we also stretched our finances to buy and renovate a lovely house in the countryside. I would also say our house is an indulgence.

Mary46 · 07/06/2020 20:20

Sorry to hear that @joeexotics sad

Runnerduck34 · 07/06/2020 21:04

-Garden/ buying plants

wehaveafloater · 07/06/2020 21:13

I bought a Mews house in a city and keep a soft top sport car there. I live rurally most of the time and normally drive a big 4x4 , so when I go to the city I'm quite different and only have 'good clothes ' there and good makeup and expensive soaps etc. It's utter indulgence and way over the top but I discovered a long time ago that life is what you make it.

AdoptedBumpkin · 07/06/2020 21:15

At the moment, the boring old mortgage.

icanbreathagain · 07/06/2020 21:18

My cleaner and good food! As a child we were very poor and good food is a must to me whilst I can afford it!

BeNiceToYourSister · 07/06/2020 21:24

For us it’s good food (e.g. organic veg box, at least one fairly big Waitrose splurge a month, restaurants once a fortnight). We don’t take holidays abroad so this is how we afford/justify it!

Binkybix · 07/06/2020 23:53

Hmmm. I am really stumped. I guess the odd painting. But in terms of lifestyle indulgences not many. Wow. I am boring! We do love fairly central London in a house, so maybe that’s it.

Even when travel gets back to normal I’m trying to only fly once a year because of the environmental impact. So maybe expensive train travel will be my thing!

TheClitterati · 08/06/2020 00:17

Indie perfume habit.

Ice cream from local gelato shop.

museumsandgalleries666 · 08/06/2020 00:42

Working only 3 days a week. Don't have expensive habits so am able to manage on the reduced salary, and absolutely love my 2 extra days off mid week

Upherefordancing · 08/06/2020 00:59

Before lockdown it was yoga classes in the morning and wine in the evening.

Since lockdown I've done so many YouTube yoga classes that I've cancelled my club membership, and I've lost so much weight that I'm drinking less wine!

Win win I think! Smile

Cincoperros · 08/06/2020 07:24

Having a pack of rescue dogs.
Special grain free salmon food (I can't remember last time I had salmon for dinner) OTT vetinary care because I am the biggest hypocondriac with them and will take them for a slight snivel or limp .. Plus all the toys and chews and accesories we buy them. Blush toys that usually last about 20 minutes I should add.

Holidays- a few long weekend or bank holiday city breaks, a week of slobbing on the beach and a long haul trip back home at xmas.

Boarding for the pack of dogs while we go on holiday. They stay at a vet-run "dog hotel" Blush

Also buying crap off Amazon, and prime because that way my new crap arrives faster.

Reading other people's lists, I fully understand and forgive now though why my dad would never get me a pony growing up even though I begged and pleaded haha!!

AuntieMarys · 08/06/2020 07:29

Quality food.
Eating out 2-3 times a week.
Hair/facials/every 5 weeks
Nails every 10 days
Weekends away

Sunshiney1981 · 08/06/2020 08:11

Quality food - local organic veg and bread box, local butchers delivery box, top quality organic food from Ocado. As far as I’m concerned one should always buy the best quality good possible. You are what you eat. ‘Let food be thy medicine’

Massages, reflexology and other relaxing treatments for me, DH and even one of the children comes for reflex!

mumofamenagerie · 08/06/2020 08:57

Tea (shout out to Bird and Blend) and things for my animals. I spend more on my chickens than I do on myself.

Funtcase95 · 08/06/2020 09:00

Car parts & drifting. Sold the drift car before I had DD (6.5mo) and intended to buy a new project once she were a few months old ready for summer season but didn't get around to it before lockdown! Gutted.

Jennyie1 · 08/06/2020 09:04

Holidays. We take a 3 week 'big one' every winter. My husband spends the year running upto it planning it. We don't go luxury by any stretch but the holiday will be very involved and a lot of commitment and time will go into it.
We also spend any free time in the summer months camping around the UK. I am completely sucked in to all the camping gadgets.

We eat well, as in we love to cook, I shop smart though. Every meal is well cooked and thought out. I just love cooking, reading recipe books, watching food programmes.

DukeOfEarlGrey · 08/06/2020 13:09

I have (or had, pre-lockdown) quite a few little indulgences including occasional taxis, manicures, regular takeaway coffees and magazines.

My big indulgences though are lovely clothes, make up and beauty. I love wearing nice things and once I could afford it I started buying lovely clothes for work from places like LK Bennett. These things were previously totally aspirational to me and sometimes I marvel at my wardrobe of elegant work clothes in wonder Blush

I grew up with relatively little money so anything I don’t actually need feels like an extravagance and I still have to debate things carefully before I buy. I also can’t get into the same mindset for my personal life - all of my expensive clothes are for work and at home I’m a bit of a scruff.
