I’d change the kitchen cupboards and potentially install different doors out to garden... I really like it, DH thinks garden too small (family of 4).

I like it but OMG the price
That be 320k where I live

Bananas17 · 06/06/2020 19:02

I like it

thunderthighsohwoe · 06/06/2020 19:02

As someone who lives in Sussex, I’d suggest that you spend a bit of time in Crawley before committing to like there. With that kind of budget you can get some great houses in lovely areas elsewhere.

thunderthighsohwoe · 06/06/2020 19:04

@Mrskeats That would be £700k minimum where I live - no joke. Detached family houses in our village (also Sussex) never come up for less than that 😭

Hamm87 · 06/06/2020 19:05

I think garden is way too small for family love the kitchen but hate how open planned the downstairs is it will get cold in winter

Alsohuman · 06/06/2020 19:05

We live north of London, 45 minutes into Kings Cross. This is what you could get here, it’s five minutes from the station and a good secondary school, there’s a primary in the village.

House is lovely, bar the red kitchen! Garden has potential and is a good size, our garden is a quarter of that size with 2 children and we manage fine!

suziedoozy · 06/06/2020 19:09

I absolutely wouldn’t buy in Crawley at the moment for lots of reasons, mainly it will be hit with Gatwick but also because there is only one decent secondary school.

If you are desperate to look along the train line look at Haywards Heath or even Hassocks.

HH is only 43/45 mins from Victoria / London Bridge and is much nicer than Crawley - I’m not saying it amazing but it is compare to Crawley. For a similar price point you could have this

Finches Gardens, Lindfield, RH16

TildaTurnip · 06/06/2020 19:14

I like it and think it is reasonably priced though I’d wait to see how covid affects the house prices there.

50ft garden-perfectly fine
Has en-suite
Living room has doors to shut it off from the open plan kitchen/family room so best of both worlds
Separate utility
Has a study
Decent parking

Garden and decorating can be done later.

Fairly common when we have been looking for there to only be main bedroom or main and second bedroom photos.

Char1ey · 06/06/2020 19:16

I live in North Herts, 30 mins train ride to Kings Cross.

That’s a lot of house, compared to available properties in this area.

Don’t be put off by the paved garden. My back garden was an overgrown weed ridden mess, covered entirely by paving slabs & decking which I have ripped off, but it’s south facing & a total sun trap. Gardens can easily be changed.

Look past the garden & the decorating... if it is not a Massive structural issue putting you off, then things can always be changed. Good Luck in your search!

GreenTeaMug · 06/06/2020 19:17

I like the kitchen!

Char1ey · 06/06/2020 19:17

Ripped out... Not off!! 🙄

Redtartanshoes · 06/06/2020 19:19

Bluntness/Smink, after location is awful, although I think Uddingston/Bothwell is lovely, green space, bars and restaurants without the hassle of the west end. Was just highlighting what you could get round here for a similar price 🤷🏽‍♀️

sminkipinki · 06/06/2020 19:19

The garden does look as if it's north facing, if I'm reading the satellite map properly. I think that would be a sticking point.

Nosuchluck · 06/06/2020 19:19

It's a lovely house in a nice area, your children would go to with a Pound hill or Milton Mount primary and then Hazelwick. They are all good schools. You'd have the choice of many big supermarkets and be very close to a massive Tesco and a Lidl and Ice!and. There's lot to do in Crawley, Tilgate Park is lovely and in Poundhill there are the usual toddler groups etc. County Mall shopping center is very good, I can always find everything I need there. Crawle y is a very friendly area and the commute into London is absolutely amazing, so many fast trains I don't even bother looking at the timetable

Having said all this if you could afford to move to Horsham then I'd pick Horsham over Crawley, it is lot nicer.

Whosaysyoucanthaveitall · 06/06/2020 19:19

I think the garden is fine for 2 kids, it just needs some adjusting. I wouldn’t worry about a downturn in prices due repossessions like someone commented it - it takes at least 24 months for a bank to commence repossessions (I know from work).
On the downside, you really need to check flight path noise. I used to live in Kew and the noise was unbearable in the summer.
Another negative the house really doesn’t have much style or kerb appeal, plus the downstairs is an awkward shape for furniture.

littlealexhorne · 06/06/2020 19:21

I think its nice, but I'd want to put grass down in the garden for definite. I wouldn't say it was an overly small garden though, depends how much you'd use it and what for I suppose.

sminkipinki · 06/06/2020 19:23

Oh I know red - I spend a LOT of time looking at huge gorgeous houses and flats in Glasgow as it's our longer-term plan to move there and I like fantasising about what I could get for my money! Absolutely love the place.

nannybeach · 06/06/2020 19:23

I used to live in Pound Hill and Three Bridges, have relatives there, and Horsham. Nothing wrong with the areas, good schools. When we lived in Lingfield, we were right under the flight path, not a lot of aircraft noise in Pound Hill and Three Bridges, (Charlwood, yes!!)though. We moved because the houses in Surrey are so expensive, and the council tax, more for your money in Sussex. Lindfield, haha, born and bred there! Pretty, but a lot of snobby "village" mentality, (clicky)none of my friends ever moved out, still live in the next road to their parents. I like Horsham, its so clean, lack of litter and broken bottles!! Gardening is my big "thing" so I would want (and have a huge plot) Plus side its a cul-d-sac, good schools there. Have you looked in Kent at all, nice areas around Tunbridge Wells, easy commute to London, yes, I have a DD there as well!!

Redtartanshoes · 06/06/2020 19:26

Agree. North facing garden would be a deal breaker.

Sminki.. moved here 15 years ago. Love it

sminkipinki · 06/06/2020 19:30

It's the best place red Grin. Feels like home really. I do often wonder why we're staying in the insanely expensive and frankly boring south-east when we could be in fabulous Glasgow!

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 06/06/2020 19:32

The garden is important to me and, although there is a stunning Acer on the front of the property, the rear garden is a yard, not a garden and a quite unattractive one at that.

The exterior looks nice and it looks a good size but it has an unusual layout. It seems to be consumed by the kitchen/lounge yet it doesn't look right with all the pillars where walls have been removed. There is something wrong with the flow of the rooms.

If you are going to change the kitchen that seems a massive waste as it looks very modern and new. It was a shock when I first saw it but, if you like red, it is fine. I think it could be just the way the current owners have purposed it and you may be able to improve that by utilising more of the area with lounge furniture.

The other reception room seems quite narrow as does the bedroom.

Cherrysoup · 06/06/2020 19:35

Weird layout. You might be better off north of the river. If I had to even hear about the south circular again, I think I’d cry. For that price, you’d get a 3 bed in Herts with a garden twice the size.

sunshinesupermum · 06/06/2020 19:36

My DD lives in Redhill - much nicer than Crawley and 30 mins I think into central London. I'd also be wary of buying in Crawley due to inevitable impact on Gatwick.

As for this house, I think the garden is small for your size family.

labazsisgoingmad · 06/06/2020 19:36

nope kitchen is awful badly laid out dont think the garden is any good no you could get better for your money
