Cauliflower in Brittany is just short of €7 for one. Now that really is daylight robbery! Small cantaloupe melon €3.49. One chicken between €7and €8. Thank goodness for Lidl.
Rive Gauche eau de toilette is €50 on the ferry and €115 in the shops.

Property and Vets are the only cheap things I have found here.

Mumsnet premium...

CynthiaRothrock · 05/06/2020 18:55

Might have already been said but, basic socks/underwear. Not the fancy frilly stuff although that's expensive imo. So little material for what?!

Mmpip · 05/06/2020 18:55

Shit Mrsmoastytoasty.....I was absolutely assured that my Mulberry bags were made by fairies....Absolutely gutted......

TheFencePainter · 05/06/2020 18:57

I don't get the moaning about dishwasher tabletsConfused
Asda regularly has Fairy and Finish on offer for about £9 for about 80 tablets. That's ok price

Lincslady53 · 05/06/2020 18:58

Picture framing. Not off the shelf ready made frames, but bespoke frames from a framing shop. I know it is because they are hand made, but still expensive.

bluefoxmug · 05/06/2020 18:58

dyson
style - well not even that, the products look like bloody cheapo plastic tat - over substance

glennamy · 05/06/2020 19:00

For all the people putting ink cartridges, just refill them yourself... Get the ink kit on auction site, it only costs pennies per refill when you DIY and it is so easy... All cartridges can be reused thus you are saving big money and the environment! Buy bigger bottles of black as this is used the most!

Rachand23 · 05/06/2020 19:02

Pears - I bought 14 pears the other day from Tesco’s the cost me over £9. They are not a meal. They are part of your 5 a day. Strawberries too are Really expensive.

TickyTacky · 05/06/2020 19:02

Bread bins! A lot of money for what is essentially a tiny cupboard.

sophe · 05/06/2020 19:02

Tahini. what has happened???

The jars have all shrunk in size and the prices are ridiculous for a ubiquitous staple of many cuisines.

Oliversmumsarmy · 05/06/2020 19:04

I just bought a drill bit.

Even at a builders merchants with a discount it was £25

TokyoSushi · 05/06/2020 19:07

Pretty kids teepees, bonkers prices!

Minai · 05/06/2020 19:07

Cherries are insanely expensive. I picked up a small bag last year in the supermarket and when I scanned it it came to £8!

Gwenhwyfar · 05/06/2020 19:09

"Contraceptives, especially condoms and the morning after pill"

Aren't they available at the GPs or on prescription? It's pretty bad if the pill is free, but condoms which also prevent STDs, aren't.

For all berries, I just buy frozen.

Lou12124 · 05/06/2020 19:12

Toothpaste
Foil
Paint!

WendyE · 05/06/2020 19:14

Ink cartridges - esp Black.
They are like gold dust atm with so many WFH.
Just paid an eye watering amount for these but I'm claiming it back !! :(

£9 for 80 tablets?! That's a RIP off! Groupon or B&m stores are best place for that! £8.99 for 110 tablets!

TheFencePainter · 05/06/2020 19:19

I used to get my pills free from sex health clinic. They used to have massive bowl with condoms there.
I don't consider any contraception expensive though. It's a good investmentGrin I think most expensive are about 10 a month if one cannot get to sexual health clinic or gp

MollyMinniesMum · 05/06/2020 19:19

I live in France and cauliflowers, paint, gates, ho sauce beans and tea are all inexplicably expensive!

Echobelly · 05/06/2020 19:20

Swimsuits... they all seem to be like £40 these days and I don't want to spend that much money on something I wear about 4 times a year, especially when I look like a sack of spuds in most of them.

BarbaraofSeville · 05/06/2020 19:26

£12 for a bloody calculator

You're complaining about that, it's nothing. Mine cost nearly that when I started secondary school, 35 years ago. And I've still got it and it still works.

YaasssQueen · 05/06/2020 19:26

Nice plant pots.
