Friedbluetomatoes

Puppies were that price pre-covid! You are looking at 2-3k now. Wink

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 04/06/2020 16:28

Taps

Kids magazines, 10 pages of 'activities' and plastic tat. You'd think you'd get a discount for an annual subscription - nope, eye-watering!

Chocolatekitty · 04/06/2020 16:30

Stand mixers. Why can I get a hand mixer for £20, but a stand mixer is between £250-£500?

Tropical2 · 04/06/2020 16:30

Lego - my four year old can build a set for his age in an hour then he wants another one!

HeretoThereandBackAgain · 04/06/2020 16:31

I live in the US and food is insanely expensive here.

Milk - $3.89 half gallon
Bread - $5.99
Chicken - $8.99 per lb
Raspberries - $4.99

Insurance is outrageous
Home- $3500 a year
Car 1 - $1600 a year
Car 2 - $1000 a year
Don’t get me started on health insurance!

speakout · 04/06/2020 16:31

Doughballs- from a supermarket- even supermarket own brands are so expensive, for a few tiny pieces of dough- why?

Jaxhog · 04/06/2020 16:32

Printer ink....what is it? The tears of unicorns

And coloured by fairies. At least that's what the price would suggest.

Jaxhog · 04/06/2020 16:34

'designer clothes'

Why does it cost 100000 as much for the same old tat, just because some x rated celebrity wears it?

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 04/06/2020 16:37

Tea towels.

They're like, £7.99.

speakout · 04/06/2020 16:37

justasking111 · 04/06/2020 16:40

I used to make all our curtains, tie backs, cushion covers. The price of fabric became insane, add on linings, hooks, header tape, zips. I worked out it was cheaper to buy ready made.

MikeUniformMike · 04/06/2020 16:42

@speakout, those UK prices aren't right.

speakout · 04/06/2020 16:42

MikeUniformMike

Why? That's what I pay.

earthyfire · 04/06/2020 16:43

Smartphones - prices seem to have got out of control
Light bulbs
Butter
Trainers

The cost of having my hair cut and coloured at a hair salon - I pay it but this lockdown has made me think that I don't actually need to do it as often...my hair feels great for not having it done now the salons are closed.

Tabitha005 · 04/06/2020 16:44

Another vote for dishwasher tablets. WTF are they made from, palladium? They're ludicrously expensive. There MUST be a cheap alternative that does exactly the same thing, surely?

SnugglySnerd · 04/06/2020 16:44

Toothpaste, antihistamines, printer ink, pull ups - the night time ones for older children.

listsandbudgets · 04/06/2020 16:44

@thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter try The Phoenix. Its about £12 a month subscription and arrives weekly ( at least it does when Royal Mail are working normally). No plastic tat and best of all no flipping adverts and my DS loves it ( hes 7 year 3)

Downinthetubestationatmidnight · 04/06/2020 16:44

Greetings cards from a specialist shop, i.e. not a chain or supermarket
Children's pyjamas
Vegan food

Crazycrazylady · 04/06/2020 16:46

Blinds...
More expensive than the flipping windows.

Can you tell i just got a quote of €975 for one plantation Blind🙄

Thinkingabout1t · 04/06/2020 16:47

My sister told me a book she wanted was £75. We agreed that was a ludicrous price. I looked it up and found it was £7.50. She really needs to go to specsavers. But I won't tell her I'll just look good when I give her the book.

WaffleCash · 04/06/2020 16:48

@justasking111 last time i made cushion covers it was cheaper to buy a cheap cushion cover from ikea and reuse the zip than just buy the zip on its own!

LaurieFairyCake · 04/06/2020 16:48

I had NO idea food in the States was expensive Shock

TheMandalorian · 04/06/2020 16:49
