I'm so sick of repeating myself today.
AIBU or is ignorance just bliss?

They’re not assumptions? These are things that people have said, have admitted to on this thread!

Why are some people so reluctant to support black people in this fight without there having to be a ‘well white people have had it too...’ Jesus fuck off with your ‘white people too’ shit.

I’m actually ashamed to be British, and ashamed to be white at the moment.

I agree with the OP. Just calling out your bullshit of what people are actually thinking, according to you.

@THATscurryfungeBITCH "That poster said it’s one of the most racist presumptions imaginable. Do you agree with them? Do you agree that it’s more racist than my example?"

Try reading and responding to what I wrote.

Try reading and responding to other posters without accusing them of being in the KKK.

Again this has become all about white feelings

The thread is about white people. Its there in the title

I thought the thread was actually about the pain and despair felt by the OP. Except not any more, because many PPs don't accept that those feelings are valid.

It’s not a competition in life, just because you may have experienced something once (or even several times) does not mean that your experience is superior to the experiences of blacks people in the west. Or even equal!

No-one or very few have said this.

But they have been answering the OP's question.

GreytExpectations · 04/06/2020 13:28

White people who say they have experienced racist name calling or other attacks also still have white privilege even within these events - they have the privilege of exposing it, and being believed, of being validated by their peers and of it probably being widely denounced.

This. And this is why as a BAME person I get really annoyed whenever a white person says "But I've experienced racism too!" when most likly the worse they had was being called a white bitch which isn't even a racist insult. I was a child in America during 9/11 and being of Asian ethnicity I lost friends because their parents told them I might be Muslim and therefore a terrorist, imagine being a child called a "paki" by another child who had be taught the word by the parents. I also had black friends who had been called the N word since they were toddler age. Please, all you white posters, explain to me how you can claim to experience that same level for you entire life.

But they have been answering the OP's question.

But the fact that it’s been brought it in itself is what is so troubling - the OP was stating how dragged down she felt by everything, and the statement that white people haven’t experienced racism does not really need answering does it? At the moment? Is that really something that needs to be discussed?!

Black lives matter, and at the moment it is black lives that are being extinguished by white people.

And not just murdered, they are being extinguished by poverty, deprivation, by lack of opportunity.

White people have never and will never experience the same level of racism and hatred that black people have. End of.

@SuckingDieselFella

I think you’ve got a bit confused.
The poster said:
“I find the "You're white. You haven't experienced racism." one of the most racist presumptions imaginable.“

And I challenged them by asking if that sentiment was more racist than the presumption “this persons life doesn’t matter because they’re black.”

You popped up to kindly tell me that their both racist presumptions. Well done! You’re correct! Except one is wildly more dangerous than the other. Have a think about why me saying that offends you so much.

So I did in fact read and respond to what you wrote. However, you didn’t answer the question I asked you in my last post.

Also, that @ Grin temper, temper.

Why won't you read the thread title, like other posters have told you to?

"You're white. You haven't experienced racism."

White people respond to this thread title and say that they have experienced racism? And you are telling us to fuck off? If you want to combat racism you're going the wrong way about it.

There is nothing in the OP about supporting black people in the fight. Nothing about black people at all. Ask yourself why that is.

And try to think before you post.

Tonz · 04/06/2020 13:36

I read another thread and was asked to watch 13th available on Netflix which I did. Came out more educated. I highly recommend anybody who doesn't understand the difference of racial prejudice to the racism black people encounter every step of life to watch it. You will learn a lot. It is not the same not by a long way. Some will change their view and become an ally of black lives matter. It hit me hard

LydiaDusbyn · 04/06/2020 13:36

AvranaKernsBestSpider ALL absolute assumptions made about someone because of their race (as in the title of this thread) are by their very nature racist. Your point is valid to a point but all absolute assumptions are equally bad in the end.... still, if you can't argue above the level of bringing the KKK into it, God help you in this complex world, seriously.

This. And this is why as a BAME person I get really annoyed whenever a white person says "But I've experienced racism too!"

As a white BAME person, I disagree. In fact the most recent racism I've heard about and seen, nothing will come of it at all.
It isn't even covert, it's right out there and accepted by society.

It's not a competition though and unless racism is tackled in general not by individual races, or ethnic minorities, nothing will change.
There shouldn't be a need for whataboutery, all racism shouldn't be tolerated.
