The puppy was a Pomeranian - imported from Russia? Are they known for health problems? So shocked to read the puppy died after only 6 days!! What would be the cause? Underlying health issue?

Pure bred pets from breeders often have awful health problems in their bloodlines & prospective owners are often left unaware.
It pays to research the type of pet you want.

My sister adopted a pedigree Persian kitten from a breeder off Pets 4 Homes who turned out to be running a kitten farm (I did warn her!!).
He cost £500 6 years ago & suffered poor health from the start, mainly linked to the fact he'd been bred with the typical Persian brachycephalic skull. Luckily he was insured for vet treatment.
Sadly he died aged just 4 from acute heart failure which is common in purebred Persians. My sister was devastated as he had a lovely personality.

My friend Lottie had a pedigree purebred puppy from a reputable breeder that died suddenly aged 3 of an illness that was common to his breed, she was heartbroken.

And a friend lost his lovely purebred Siberian cat very young to a heart attack. Again something he should have been aware could happen to those type of pedigree cats.

It's well known that the more pure bred or overbred an animal is the weaker & more prone to health problems it will be.
If it's from a kitten or puppy farm the risks of poor health are even higher.
Crossbred animals or better still, mongrels are much stronger on the whole.

I hope Mollie Mae & Tommy Fury will get over their loss & have learnt their lesson about puppy farms, providing there is someone sensible around them to inform them on the subject. Otherwise they may make the same mistake again!

You can adopt puppies. Day we went to dog adoption talk at the dogs trust most of other people there were adopting a litter of Yorkshire terrier puppies. We had to do 2 visits to dog and the talk. Think he cost us £120 adoption fee.

Whitney168 · 03/06/2020 15:13

Those who think these pups are flown to the UK are a bit naive - try dozens of litters travelling across the countries for days on end, shoved in to tiny crates. Where the transporters aren't approved, they will be hidden in unsuitable containers.

Toy breed puppies should never leave their mothers until at least 12 weeks of age, and can still be very fragile if not fed at appropriate intervals. Not conducive to making good time travelling ...

Sorry, got distracted in my irritation ... all pups coming in to the UK should be 4 months old anyway to comply with import requirements. It's patently obvious with a lot of these imports that they are much much younger.

fuckinghellthisshit · 03/06/2020 15:19

They are sure to have scored a sweeeeeeeeet discount on their accessory by advertising the company and pressurising her young impressionable 'followers' to copy her. Selfish disgusting idiots.

Didactylos · 03/06/2020 15:24

could we not just go back to the 1880s and have the influencers wearing stuffed kittens and squirrels for their ever so fashionable images?
at least that cruelty was quick and obvious

Designer dogs for vacuous Insta celebs without a brain cell between them.

I can’t believe they’re advertised as being a max weight of 2kg. These “teacup” breeds are not supposed to be so tiny. But they’re totes adorbs so... 🤷‍♀️

Runtowintowalk · 03/06/2020 15:34

The ‘breeder’ now saying she is devestated as she ‘watched the puppy grow from birth’ - err over FaceTime was it?? Confused

That poor puppy. And to think there's shelters full of gorgeous loving dogs looking for homes.

I honestly do not agree with importing animals from abroad anyway , rescue a dog from a shelter .
Of course a shelter dog is not as cute .
A fool and his money but they are young I suppose .

howlatthetrees · 03/06/2020 15:47

If they want a puppy you can adopt puppies! Both my dogs were adopted from puppies, but they wanted a toy breed to go with their image!.

Marsis · 03/06/2020 15:52

I wonder if Tommy actually did ‘buy’ her the puppy, most of the influencer types don’t pay for any of the stuffI can imagine that Tiffany thought this would be a load of free advertising, that backfired poor little pup.

spiderlight · 03/06/2020 15:55

Poor little soul - let down at every stage in her short life by her breeder, the importers, the sellers, and the owners for being so stupid as to fund and publicise this awful trade :(

IntermittentParps · 03/06/2020 16:02

Of course a shelter dog is not as cute .
Nonsense!

littlealexhorne · 03/06/2020 16:03

I can only hope that some good might come of this and it might raise awareness to their young fans about the horrors of puppy farms?

Al1Langdownthecleghole · 03/06/2020 16:03

God, I feel about 95 somedays. Why the fuck would anyone with half a brain cell buy a puppy via Instagram?

Or have I answered my own question?

ribbetribbet · 03/06/2020 16:11

Yes they clearly got the dog discounted or free from the breeder in return for advertising this puppy farm. They tagged the breeder in every post to do with the dog and influencers never ever do this unless they're getting something out of it too.

VioletNoRegard · 03/06/2020 16:20

The PP is quite right that a rescue dog wouldn’t be perceived by someone who only does anything for pics, clicks and likes as “cute”.

But I think she means “cute” in the eyes of the shallow influencer and their followers, not that rescue dogs can’t be cute. And it’s sad that she’s right. Never mind that a scruffy happy bright eyed healthy dog is what a dog should look like. Never mind that a dog should be a dog, not a toy. No, it’s all about being a photogenic accessory and absolutely nothing to do with actually wanting to give a dog a loving home Angry

ThePluckOfTheCoward · 03/06/2020 16:20

Well this so called "influencer" is obviously thick as mince, but I'm guessing that most of them are, along with vain, shallow, self absorbed and oh yes Thick.

imsooverthisdrama · 03/06/2020 16:27

Of course a shelter dog is not as cute .
Nonsense!

You know what I mean you won't find that dog in a shelter. I personally think all dogs are cute .
This dog has been chosen for the aww factor and is a fashion accessory that is not why you should get a dog .

IntermittentParps · 03/06/2020 16:37

This dog has been chosen for the aww factor and is a fashion accessory that is not why you should get a dog .

Yes, totally agree.
I don't happen to find those weird dogs with popping eyes and Frankenstein's-monster bulging foreheads cute, personally. Not that it's the dogs' faults of course!

JokingAsideNow · 03/06/2020 16:43

People who cannot adopt a dog from here shouldn't be allowed to adopt a dog from abroad. There is no doubt a good reason why they can't adopt a dog here. It's the same as saying someone has been rejected from adopting a child here, so they can just go abroad and get one. Proper checks need to be made.

I know this woman purchased a dog rather than adopted one, so not really relevant here.

A representative of Molly-Mae and Tommy confirmed Mr Chai had died of 'a seizure and neurological issues.'
A statement read: 'Chai died of a seizure and neurological issues. This probably relating to the puppies skull not being fully formed (see note on anterior fontanelle below).
'Chai passed away with a number of health issues outlined below and the puppy clearly was not at full health and potentially had been carrying an infection and fighting it for some time before reaching Molly and Tommy.'
It then listed a number of ailments the dog suffered from, including: 'no white blood cells present in blood, anterior fontanelle not completely ossified, body condition 3/5, liver congested, spleen enlarged congested, adrenal glands enlarged, kidneys congested, colon congested, lungs congested and Heart right ventricle dilated.'
