Pure bred pets from breeders often have awful health problems in their bloodlines & prospective owners are often left unaware.
It pays to research the type of pet you want.
My sister adopted a pedigree Persian kitten from a breeder off Pets 4 Homes who turned out to be running a kitten farm (I did warn her!!).
He cost £500 6 years ago & suffered poor health from the start, mainly linked to the fact he'd been bred with the typical Persian brachycephalic skull. Luckily he was insured for vet treatment.
Sadly he died aged just 4 from acute heart failure which is common in purebred Persians. My sister was devastated as he had a lovely personality.
My friend Lottie had a pedigree purebred puppy from a reputable breeder that died suddenly aged 3 of an illness that was common to his breed, she was heartbroken.
And a friend lost his lovely purebred Siberian cat very young to a heart attack. Again something he should have been aware could happen to those type of pedigree cats.
It's well known that the more pure bred or overbred an animal is the weaker & more prone to health problems it will be.
If it's from a kitten or puppy farm the risks of poor health are even higher.
Crossbred animals or better still, mongrels are much stronger on the whole.
I hope Mollie Mae & Tommy Fury will get over their loss & have learnt their lesson about puppy farms, providing there is someone sensible around them to inform them on the subject. Otherwise they may make the same mistake again!
