Influencer Mollie Mae puppy dies after 6 days?

Runtowintowalk · 03/06/2020 11:38

The puppy was a Pomeranian - imported from Russia? Are they known for health problems? So shocked to read the puppy died after only 6 days!! What would be the cause? Underlying health issue?

Apparently it was delayed arriving for her birthday and she said on her Instagram the delay was as he was coming from Russia.

It’s really sad and to be fair no one on this page knows at all why it died.

Could have easily been an underlying health issue that is not related to poor breeding, dodgy as fuck Russians or puppy farming.

It’s not my choice ever to buy a pet, having rescued all of our dogs over the years but I wouldn’t dream of making assumptions over the death of someone’s pet or child or otherwise.

SionnachRua · 03/06/2020 12:14

She (or he, seeing as the boyfriend bought the dog) bought from a known puppy mill. No surprise that it died, many of those dogs have serious health conditions.

Runtowintowalk · 03/06/2020 12:14

Poor little pup. What an awful life and for such a short time. I don’t understand how these people get away with having an actual Instagram page promoting that they’re a puppy farm essentially. Can they not be shut down?

I just went on the Tiffany puppies page and it says in the bio she’s a registered breeder? Is she actually breeding dogs though if she’s just importing them all from Russia? Sounds like she’s the middle man for Russian puppy farms rather than an actual breeder.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 03/06/2020 12:17

Oh no. Poor baby. Sad. Rip Chai.

I don't think anyone is saying Russian dogs are all dodgy!

But any company who thinks it's acceptable to fly a tiny puppy halfway across the world is not exactly reputable, is it?

I can't imagine the stress that poor puppy must have been under - all alone in a tiny crate going through multiple airports, being stuck on a noisy aircraft and going through vet and health checks before being carted to someone's house to be paraded all over their Instagram page.

No reputable breeder who gives one toss about animal welfare would allow that to happen to their puppies. I think it's safe to say that where she got the dog from is dodgy as hell.

Ughmaybenot · 03/06/2020 12:17

They got a tiny puppy from an Instagram page and flew it over from Russia? Fucking idiots. Hardly surprising it wasn’t the picture of good health. How sad, poor little thing.
And it’s super sad for them too, but really this is caused by their (his) own stupidity.

Thinkingabout1t · 03/06/2020 12:19

I hope these silly people will take the opportunity to warn their followers against importing animals (except as a rescue) and against using puppy farms anywhere.

Thelnebriati · 03/06/2020 12:20

There was a campaign to ban importing puppies under 6 months that travelled without their dam, but it didn't get very far because more people want puppies than want to ban puppy farming.

There are at least 60,000 puppies imported legally every year, plus several hundred known to be imported illegally.
They aren't vaccinated, they often have genetic health issues. The breeding bitches aren't fed properly, vaccinated or wormed.

''To demonstrate the ongoing ease with which dogs can enter the country unchecked, we [Dogs Trust] successfully
brought a microchipped stuffed toy with fake paperwork into the UK from mainland Europe on three occasions.''

@mencken

and this is why following influencers just encourages scum. Why does anyone want to be 'influenced?'
This, a thousand times over.
CuriousaboutSamphire · 03/06/2020 12:21

They should be... she isn't a licensed breeder, she is an importer.

She cannot possibly be acting in accordance with the new(ish) law

KensalGreen · 03/06/2020 12:25

This is the link to the instagram page they got the dog from instagram.com/tiffany_puppies/?hl=en

They do import from Russia - it's mentioned in the captions of some photos.

When I looked at the page the other day the bio described the company as 'Luxurious pups', wonder why that's gone.

The fact they have a stories highlight called 'Celebs' with pictures of the influencers who've bought dogs from them tells me everything I need to know.

Glitteryone · 03/06/2020 12:25

Very sad.

I noticed that they had it out in a public place for a picnic a few days ago. This striked me as odd as there’s no way it would have all his vaccinations by then. And therefore it shouldn’t have been out I public due to the risks of parvo, etc.

ErickBroch · 03/06/2020 12:26

Yes it's sad but imported puppy from a Russian puppy mill - dog is inbred to look like a toy (not a proper pom) - and she was taking it out in extreme heat. Considering it's age I wonder if it even had all it's jabs.

I work in animal welfare - partcularly dogs - so I am just really fucked off with it but also not surprised. Every time some instagrammer gets a toy puppy it enrages me! I actually like Molly, they are both very young and not the brightest, I hope they learn from this and educate others.

Runtowintowalk · 03/06/2020 12:27

What’s worse is that I don’t think they will use her influence to now say that buying from a puppy farm/importing is wrong. I noticed she made the announcement on her ‘story’ which means that in 24 hours it’ll be gone and there will be no trace of them losing the puppy on her page. Just a few pics of them with a cute dog and it’ll be back to selfies.

OP posts:
ErickBroch · 03/06/2020 12:27

Also I highly doubt this dog was flown over, more likely in the back of a car boot with it's siblings.

IntermittentParps · 03/06/2020 12:30

That's disgusting.

Poor puppy (and its mother) but I've no real sympathy for the 'influencer' and her boyfriend buying an expensive dog as a birthday present and without (one assumes) trying to do any due diligence. Idiots.

Oldraver · 03/06/2020 12:34

I have never understood why we have to import animals for pets when we have so many wnating homes in this country

And that goes for rescues as well. I think it totally imoral for a rescue to be imported

ChateauMyself · 03/06/2020 12:35

I’d lay money this dog wasn’t flown over - too expensive & too much paperwork. Doubt it even originated from Russia.

I met a person from DEFRA and one of their jobs involved impounded puppies and investigating the ‘importers’. Easy money with non of the associated problems from drug smuggling.

Parvo, distemper, fleas, worms, congenital issues, malnutrition of the mother - who knows. As long as you get the cute picture and ‘likes’...

GrumpyGran8 · 03/06/2020 12:36

Tiffany puppies Instagram suggest it’s a Cheshire based breeder...aka puppy farm. Do they import them from Russia?
Yes, they do. They posted this three days ago.
Meet little Miss Dorothy Poofington🌸She is looking for parents ♥️ Will be ready to go to her forever ♾ family in 3 weeks, estimated adult weight appx 1.8-2.0 kilos. Enquires are officially open for her 🔓🖋
Super friendly, well balanced and very happy nature..
Dorothy is from a reputable partner kennel in Russia 🇷🇺 .
FaceTime is possible to meet her and partners, for serious enquires only.
We are fully licensed breeders and agents, all license numbers are in our bio 🗞
I may be wrong, but that reads like this particular pup is still in Russia. And it's very telling that they don't say how old she is.

I don't have a pet of any kind and I'm not too fond of dogs. But treating intelligent, feeling animals as commodities to be bought and sold makes my blood boil!

Witchofzog · 03/06/2020 12:36

What the hell was she thinking. Shame on you Mollie Mae. You should have gone to a rescue but that's not cute enough is it? Angry

ErickBroch · 03/06/2020 12:37

@ChateauMyself Agreed. I have worked on many campaigns and seen first-hand the state of these puppies shoved together in car boots coming in from Dover. Most journeys will have taken days and the dogs have not been out. Not many survive!

Oh and yes it is mostly pomeranians, french bulldogs, pugs, and all these new 'mini' daxis and doodles.

JacobReesMogadishu · 03/06/2020 12:38

I wonder if the pup came from Ireland not Russia. The middle person being in Cheshire is the right side of the country for that. I know that smuggling vanloads of pups over from Ireland for UK puppy farm sellers is/was a big problem.

Coniferhedge · 03/06/2020 12:38

At 48 years old, I’m far to old to be in the target market anyway, but I’ve never understood influencers. You must have a very high opinion of yourself if you think you’re important enough to influence people, especially at such a young age.
