Now illegal to have sex with partner you don't live with?

Sueannnnna · 01/06/2020 11:46

Lots of newspapers/online articles announcing this today.
Being in a private place with partner and having sex can lead to a £100 fine if i've read correctly.

The world is going cuckoo.
But who cares about seeing my boyfriend, at least I can go shopping in Primark and go sit on a packed train (sarcasm)

There did at the start you should choose your household and stick with it. If it’s feasible to live with your partner for now that’s what I’d do.

Monkeynuts18 · 01/06/2020 12:08

*I more started this thread for how ridiculous the country is becoming,
Not as anything serious.

But sure, go back to school, go on the packed train, get a takeaway cooked by someone, but heavin forbid you see your loved ones.

And yes, seeing loved ones is essential to many people.*

You can see your loved ones. Outside.

Tbh though, it’s pretty much unenforceable. If you want to go and have sex I doubt a police officer is going to storm your home.

EmperorCovidula · 01/06/2020 12:08

@Monkeynuts18 there was a labour MP as well. I’m not sure that one MP and one government advisor makes a trend though.

MrMeeseekscando · 01/06/2020 12:09

@StewPots The problem is when there is no end in sight isn't it?
I've seen my boyfriend about 6 times now for walks, did we distance? Did we fuck. I couldn't go on any more, I hadn't had a single human touch me since mid march. It's soul destroying.
In your circumstances I'd have already broken lockdown.

FrodoTheDodo · 01/06/2020 12:10

The Police aren't going to send someone round to see if you're fucking fgs.

Sueannnnna · 01/06/2020 12:10

@Monkeynuts18 haha I now have visions of a drug-like raid for two people having sex!

And yes the government even admitted this week in one of their briefings that school's are opening to get parents back to work. So yes the economy is coming first.

And yes to posters saying it's the same through lockdown - yes I get that and I've stuck to those rules but when everyone else is treating it like it's not applicable anymore doing stuff yet I can't even cuddle my boyfriend - what then?

Well, the penalty if you’re caught breaking the law is a £30 fine. Just as it is for everyone else who’s ‘treating it like it’s not applicable anymore’. If you feel it’s that essential, then you could risk the £30 fine.

There was a labour MP who met a partner outside, no idea whether sex was involved, I've missed any reports on MPs having inside visitors, I'm interested in who @TulipsTwoLips is referring to.

Lsquiggles · 01/06/2020 12:11

You're not meant to be in close proximity to someone you don't live with, of course that means sex isn't allowed if you live separately, why the shock?

Jjjjjj1981 · 01/06/2020 12:11

Feels like those who aren’t married/have a live-in partner are now second class citizens.
Lockdown certainly isn’t an equal playing field is it

luckylavender · 01/06/2020 12:13

@Choice4567 - but it has its own specific law now.

Sueannnnna · 01/06/2020 12:13

It's a shock because some people are seeing this as okay!! What a scary world it is that some people are just accepting everything the government says.
It's wrong to force couples apart.

And yes there is a massive difference between me needing that close relationship with dp, and me seeing my mum.
My mum and my relationship will always be intact but couple relationships need close contact.

I refuse to take someone who lives with their partner opinion seriously.

Corona Sex😉

EmeraldShamrock · 01/06/2020 12:14

It sounds like you need each other for hugs and support it has been a hard road.
Don't feel guilty OP calculate the risk, was he isolating too. If everyone is on the sea splashes about in each others piss, kids are on groups, neighbours having barbecues forgetting to keep a distance after a few drinks I don't see how this is any different in terms of germ swapping.
I'm sorry to hear of his DM'S illness. Flowers

midnightstar66 · 01/06/2020 12:14

It's changed in that it's now against the rules to receive guests too where as before it was just the person visiting that was breaking them. That's my understanding.

Janet38373 · 01/06/2020 12:14

I believe this is the nanny state gone too far. The Lockdown has already hurt us. Didn't many Americans protest their lockdowns in the name of freedom and liberty?

EmeraldShamrock · 01/06/2020 12:15

@2468whodoyouappreciate Brilliant 😂

Hire your partner as a plumber/cleaner/handyman or handy woman/babysitter/chef so they can legally be in your house - if nosey bastard neighbours report you then you have a legitimate reason. What you do in the house can’t be seen so do what you like.

peopleherearerightcunts · 01/06/2020 12:16

It is now illegal from today to have someone from another household in your home, sex or no sex. They will be relying on neighbours to report this I assume.

What country is this illegal in? Just England? Or all 4 nations?

yossell · 01/06/2020 12:17

You can have sex outdoors with a lover, but not indoors at either of your houses; and it is legal to bring an escort to your house for sex, as that's necessary for work purposes. It's all very clear and logical.

So wait a second. You think that the first step in the government’s exit strategy should be to let you, an adult, see your boyfriend so you can have sex ‘for your mental health’, and children’s education should be a lower priority than your sex life?

midnightstar66 · 01/06/2020 12:17

I assume just England. Law is devolved in Scotland. I'm not actually sure of the other nations.

MadameMarie · 01/06/2020 12:18

YABU you should be social distancing

peopleherearerightcunts · 01/06/2020 12:19

I did wonder as I've not heard anything about this. As far as I know in Scotland the social distancing laws have no jurisdiction over private properties.
