That is worse than childbirth?

Just trying to ease my anxieties over giving birth, due this week!

I hate the unknown and not having a client what level of pain to expect. I know every labour is different but I cant sleep and thought I'd ask!

Wisdom tooth abscess. I'd have another 12 babies than go through that again. Plus no one brings you tea and toast after a wisdom tooth removal.

After spending 9weeks in an air boot to mend my broken foot I was then walking about on a still broken foot for 8months before i had surgery on it, bone grafts were required to help fix it along with a metal plate and pins, I had more surgery at a later date to put in another plate and pins and a screw through it, that is the worst pain I have ever experienced, after being virtually pain free for a couple of years I am now back on the orthopaedic surgeon's waiting list again because the pain is now becoming unbearable so I probably need more surgery.

At least there was an end to the labour pain.

Gall stones. I had 2 of my children without any pain relief at all but I couldn’t get through a gallstone attack without an injection of tramadol.

Sarahlou252 · 01/06/2020 19:40

In all honesty no, but it is pain with a purpose and each contraction brings you closer to meeting your baby.
No pain like it. But no pain brings greater rewards at the end of it either xx

DanceWithYourBalloon · 01/06/2020 19:51

I've had mumps, toothache etc all incredibly painful but constant.
Labour is really painful but a contraction is it's own little event and then it's gone. You get relief in between them.
Also you'll be in the zone and it's very primal and as soon as the baby is out you'll be thinking about nothing else but them. 😊

Pericombobulations · 01/06/2020 19:53

Another one saying gallstones!

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 01/06/2020 19:53

Having my eyebrow pierced! Hurt for months too.

Juliet2014 · 01/06/2020 19:54

Blown ear drum on a plane aged 18

Childbirth without any pain relief was a walk in the park in comparison

Iamnotminterested · 01/06/2020 20:06

Being examined by a student midwife. I think she had a previous career as a vet. The pain of childbirth didn't compare.

westiepoo · 01/06/2020 20:08

Childbirth was a walk in the park compared to :
Ingrowing toenails (bad)
Dental abscess (worse)
Diseased gallbladder /gallstones (worst pain known to man /woman) 😁

user1470132907 · 01/06/2020 20:10

Dry socket and bone marrow biopsy both worse. Also, you get into a rhythm with the contractions so it comes and goes. I had an induction and gas and air was all I needed

mineofuselessinformation · 01/06/2020 23:01

Oh and I forgot - having a midwife trying to force my cervix over a baby's head when I had an anterior lip...

Whatafustercluck · 01/06/2020 23:10

I broke my fibula just above my ankle last March. Fucking excruciating and brought me to actual tears in a way that childbirth didn't. Loads more debilitating for much longer too!

TriciaH87 · 01/06/2020 23:13

Yes. I had a cervical cancer scare and had to have a loop diathermy excision. When they injected my cervix with an anaesthetic before removing chunk of it that was worse than labour. Labour hurts but once it's over the pain is gone and your holding your beautiful baby for the first time.

Smileyaxolotl1 · 01/06/2020 23:13

I second burst ear drum. Much worse than either child birth (and I did my second on paracetamol alone) x

Laniakea · 01/06/2020 23:14

Quinsy, corneal abrasion, dry socket.

Makingamonkey93 · 01/06/2020 23:14

Leg cramp hurts more. Don’t get me wrong - it does hurt but I found it bearable on G&A.

empod · 01/06/2020 23:15

I have had two c sections... Kidney stones definitely worse 😭

JustTryingToGetThroughThis · 01/06/2020 23:17

No..
But they all vary. Eldest I can't remember being too bad
2nd never felt anything like it.
3rd was terrified. But was so fcst and intense. I was checked at 6cm.. 27min later the baby was in my arms. I still can't get over that now how fast it was.

MaddeningtheUnhelpful · 01/06/2020 23:17

gallstones. And that is a comparrison to three natural births with no pain relief.

Girlwhowearsglasses · 01/06/2020 23:18

A few yes.

Meningitis - headache x many many many
Sinusitis while pregnant- I wanted to die. The birth of twins two weeks later was a breeze in comparison.

Pain with an unknown or scary origin so so much worse. Pain when you know it has an ending and it’s doing something is very different.

StepAwayFromGoogle · 01/06/2020 23:22

Nothing, no, but if they offer it to you then have diamorphine. It was magic stuff.

Tanfastic · 01/06/2020 23:24

I ended up having an emergency c section but that was after going into labour and having a few contractions. I thought they were horrific but not as horrific as the trapped wind I had after the c section. No bastard warned me about that! I was given liquid morphine it was so bad 😂

Runnerduck34 · 01/06/2020 23:27

Gall bladder pain, unremitting and atm I didnt know what it was so a bit scary as well as being incredibly painful.
Childbirth is really painful ( sorry) but you get a breather in between contractions and if this makes sense it is positive pain ,as in you know what is causing it, that it will be over and it will produce a lovely baby. Its only really bad at the end and if you need it there are a load of pain relief options some of which will block all pain.
You will get through it , your body is designed for it, i found moving and pacing around really helped as did having a water birth as i felt more relaxed and could move but ask for strong pain relief if you need it and bare in mind that some pain relief they wont give you towards the last stages of labour so if you think youll need for it ask sooner rather than later. Good luck

OutComeTheWolves · 01/06/2020 23:27

Yes it is definitely not the worst pain I've been in in my lifetime.
