So she had a party in lockdown? I hope she gets fined.

Yankathebear · 30/05/2020 05:31

I don’t understand how you have a gender reveal party without knowing the gender and even more so while in lockdown?

@mumofmany81 and @Mulderitssme I’m so sorry for your loss.

gumball37 · 30/05/2020 06:57

What a nut!

I did gender reveal cookies just for me and my kids with my last. It was fun. A girl from work made them for me.

She sounds spoilt and high maintenance.

CrowdedHouseinQuarantine · 30/05/2020 07:10

totally spoilt, what a diva

Tombero · 30/05/2020 07:24

Missing the point of the thread, but why were the clinic prepared to disclose the gender over the phone to her partners mother?

Norma27 · 30/05/2020 07:25

I am another who feels so angry reading about this spoilt, entitled brat.
When I had my second pregnancy, for various last minute reasons I had to take my 6 yr old with me to my 16 week checkup. All seemed fine and she was asked if she would like to hear the heartbeat. There wasn't one.
My daughter didn't fully understand at that point. When I told her that evening the baby had died after the hospital confirmed it, she screamed. That was fuckin heartbreaking not some 11 yr old realising their mum knew the sex before he did
I won't even go into the trauma of delivering the baby and the complications I had.

I did go on to have another pregnancy which was fine and have another healthy girl, so my eldest got her little brother or sister in the end.

leckford · 30/05/2020 07:26

Gender reveal are ludicrous and hopefully are one of the many things that will be killed off by this current pandemic

ManCubsMama · 30/05/2020 07:29

Her fella is really giving all the Tiger King vibes

saffy1234 · 30/05/2020 07:30

'I came out with belly pains'

Talk about gilding the lily

saffy1234 · 30/05/2020 07:31

Hahaha @ManCubsMama

Waiting1987 · 30/05/2020 07:33

It made me angry reading it. What a stupid and pathetic woman. I can understand being upset but that article is a joke. Utter idiot!

Antipodeancousin · 30/05/2020 07:44

She got a crap service but usually you just negotiate to waive the fee, you don’t go to the local rag and broadcast it to the world!

SpillTheTeaa · 30/05/2020 07:45

I think she acted a bit OTT. I don't like the fact she used the word 'devastated'. She should be happy that she has a healthy baby not that her party was ruined.

FeelingTheBurn · 30/05/2020 07:46

I don't understand.
Surely she would have had to know the sex to have the scratch cards and all the other shite to "reveal" it to her party guests?

understandmenow · 30/05/2020 07:51

@Norma27 ThanksThanks

understandmenow · 30/05/2020 07:53

@Norma27 sorry I posted to soon, I'm sorry for your loss. Thanks

This woman is just bloody stupid! What a fuss over nothing and saying I came out with belly pains making a veiled threat that it affected the pregnancy is just awful.

lovepickledlimes · 30/05/2020 08:00

@FeelingTheBurn you can these day go to someone who will bake the cake, blow up the balloon whatever you desire and hand them a sealed envelope and so the person who provides the service will but no one else will

Norma27 · 30/05/2020 08:02

Thank you @understandmenow

It's a few years ago now, and I know so many people who have had similar experiences too.

I don't really understand wanting to know the sex anyway, although I understand lots of people do. I did ask at my 20week scan ofmy subsequent pregnancy as I found it hard to bond as I was so scared. I was pleased she couldn't give me a definite answer tho because of her position. She said she thought it was a girl but couldn't be sure. I still felt I was getting a bit of a surprise.

lovepickledlimes · 30/05/2020 08:09

@Norma27 so sorry for your loss 😔

TreeTopTim · 30/05/2020 08:21

I had to have a lot of pregnancy scans and on one of my last scans the sonographer revealed my DCs sex in conversation. I thought nothing of it and the conversation moved on. I actually thought that I was having the other sex but I didn't go running to the newspaper or call her a stupid bitch. I just gave birth and carried on being a mum to a beautiful healthy baby.

Rabblemum · 30/05/2020 08:27

Gender reveal parties are really odd. Gender is way too important in our society, it puts kids under pressure to behave in certain ways and harms adults.

7 year olds cry when no one turns up to their birthday party, that’s forgivable but a woman who is about to be a parent should get her priorities straight.

Yelllow · 30/05/2020 08:36

She's 100% just having a tantrum bc she wanted a girl!!

namechanging2020 · 30/05/2020 08:39

For a start it is sex not gender.

bee222 · 30/05/2020 08:53

Even the the woman that invented the idea of gender reveal parties wants everyone to stop
