Random question, but what are your favourite beauty products?!

OP posts:
OpenWheelRace · 31/05/2020 09:01

Could someone point me in what direction to get started with the fab sounding skincare routines mentioned?

I'm 28, dry skin with minimal breakouts.
Currently just wash face in shower and slap on some moisturiser afterwards if I remember Blush

Grumpos · 31/05/2020 09:07

None - I am a beauty whore and buy everything and anything to try. I am not brand loyal and am addicted to shiny new gorgeousness like a cosmetic crackhead.

BUT some of the bits I would recommend are

Benefit precisely my brow pencil - it is the best hard pencil for natural stroke affect. Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow wiz is almost as good.

Too Faced chocolate matte bronzer. Light and Matte bronzer - not orange, not sparkly, smells of chocolate.

ESPA - pretty much anything by them but the ProOptium serum is lovely.

NUXE honey lip balm. Blows any other lip treatment out the water.

Mio Skincare heavenly body scrub. Perfect soft citrusy skin goodness in a tub.

Korres guava shower cream. Smells of holiday, it’s beautiful.

Oh I love beauty stuff, this thread is triggering my need for new things

@QuestionableMouse

I recently bought Paulas Choice anti greasy, lightweight SPF 50. (Think it’s 50, might be 30?). It’s specifically for sports so it’s light and not at all greasy on the face. It’s gorgeous! I keep it in my pram because I’m always out with the kids and I put it on every morning before our walk. About £16 for a really decent sized bottle. Highly recommend (also my face is nice and tanned and zero redness)

Liz Earle cleanse and polish, toner and exfoliater.

Charlotte Tilbury serum, magic cream and night cream. Only started using CT recently but feeling a difference.

Haha you sound exactly like me
Saucepanlid · 31/05/2020 09:35

Thanks Lottie.

It felt a bit too greasy at the time but skin very dry at moment due to health issues . Does any one know of something similar ?

Hoohaahoo · 31/05/2020 09:35

Liveandforget I use the hydrating cleanser but I suppose it depends on your skin type as to what would suit you.

I’d stop washing your face in the shower and wait until you get out instead. The water can be too hot for the face. Get a non-foaming Cleanser and properly rub into your face and neck and wipe it off with a tepid damp flannel (use a new flannel daily-maybe get a cheap pack of them)

If your skin is dry, find a moisturiser or serum with Hyaluronic Acid to really hydrate your skin.
Do this am and pm

Finish off with a separate High SPF for the face in the morning every day.

Once you have this down, you can start looking at other products to include, based on your age and skin (I’d start by researching vitamin C products in your 20s)

I've just ordered Lagom SPF50 sun gel after reading some great reviews. Will report back when it comes!

notheragain4 · 31/05/2020 11:03

Can I just ask, I cleanse (with a face cloth), tone, serum and moisturise (spf for day, night cream for night)

Should I do this twice a day? Including toning and serum?

Thanks

I would but depends on what you serum is on whether I would use that both morning and afternoon. Personally, I would use a moisturiser and a separate SPF in the morning.

@Grumpos

Thank you! Will check it out. 😀

crazyspaniellady · 31/05/2020 12:58

Anything from Ole Henriksen but especially the transform+ night cream and day serum.

Soaper Duper body butter - I have never been softer, even DP has noticed!

Too Faced better than sex mascara, but only the waterproof one, and the better than sex eyeliner too!

NARS afterglow lip balm in Orgasm

contactusdeletus · 31/05/2020 14:23

Nip and Fab daily glycolic cleansing pads (used nightly)

Boots no 7 foundations (the hydraluminous is my current fave)

Simple exfoliating scrub (fraction of the price of the Clinique seven day scrub and does the same job, a really gentle daily exfoliation)

Maybelline made for me lipsticks, the universal shades that match to every skin tone. Their mauve and pink shades are better than Mac and Lancome ones I've splashed out on over the years

lazylinguist · 31/05/2020 14:29

Aldi's dupes of Cleanse and Polish. Just as good and very cheap!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 31/05/2020 14:36

Maybelline Great Lash. Been using it since I was a teenager. Have tried others, but I always go back to it.

mintandgold · 31/05/2020 14:37

Has anyone tried Charlotte Tilbury Magic Cream? I'm being tempted by reviews!

mintandgold · 31/05/2020 14:39

Oh sorry, my phone hadn't loaded the last posts. Notheragain4 has recommended it. Grin

areyoubeingserviced · 31/05/2020 14:40

Astral

ifyoulikepinacolada · 31/05/2020 14:53

By Terry lip balm, alpha h liquid gold, embryolisse lait-creme concentre.

AlpacaGoodnight · 31/05/2020 15:05

Everything NUXE! I started with the reve de miel lip balm which is the only lipbalm that keeps my lips from becoming dry and stops me from getting coldsores, it's expensive but lasts for months! They send you samples and have great offers so over time I tried a lot of their other products and have bever looked back. My skin is the best it has ever been!

BlushPeonies · 31/05/2020 15:11

@OpenWheelRace I really recommend Dr Sam Bunting on Youtube for simple, straight forward, science-based skincare advice.

I would recommend that a simple cleanser (I love the CeraVe one), a simple moisturiser (again I recommend CeraVe, it has done wonders for my dry skin) and a face SPF to wear everyday. Then you can start adding in things as you feel you need them. You don't need expensive serums or anything as there are only a few ingredients known to be effective for skincare and they can all be purchased relatively cheaply from somewhere like The Ordinary.

GellerYeller · 31/05/2020 15:14

Hylamide high efficiency face cleaner
The Ordinary: AHA/BHA Peel, hyaluronic, rosehip oil, niacinamide, squalene cleanser
Isotretinoin
La roche posay SPF50
St Tropez gradual tan, great colour
Body Shop Hemp on hands and feet, nothing comes close for me
Salycylic acid products for breakouts, currently using superdrug deep action gel and pads.
I'm in the market for new eye, day and night creams. Can't tolerate silicone, fragrance or sulphates as they break me out.

OpenWheelRace · 31/05/2020 17:29

@BlushPeonies Thank you Flowers

OpenWheelRace · 31/05/2020 17:30

@ChloeDecker solid advice, thank you!
