Random question, but what are your favourite beauty products?!

OP posts:
Hoohaahoo · 30/05/2020 08:06

Cerave face wash. It’s the best cleanser I’ve ever come across, I won’t use anything else now!

NewbieSM · 30/05/2020 08:26

Alpha H liquid gold
Clinique moisture surge
Kiehls midnight recovery concentrate
ASAP A+ serum
Nars soft matte concealer
Hoola bronzer
Nars afterglow balm
By terry cc serum in sunny flash
Kerastase resistance masque

I love beauty stuff and am due a rehaul, but find these threads so overwhelming!

Me too, Dieu! So many recommendations I’m sure many of which are fab but no idea which to go for.

I have terrible smokers lines/cat’s bum mouth, despite never having smoked, think it’s genetic as DM is the same.

Any ideas of products that would plump them out v gratefully received..typically I find a really thick moisturiser and think that’s the answer for a few days, then it just seems to stop working and I’m back where I started Sad. Thanks for any suggestions.

IT Cosmetics CC cream - absolutely fantastic coverage but really light

justanotherneighinparadise · 30/05/2020 09:08

Astral in a HUGE pot.

NannyPear · 30/05/2020 09:12

Collection concealer - so cheap but the only one that doesn't settle in my lines AT ALL
Benefit dandelion blush
Anastasia Beverly Hills dipbrow pomade
CeraVe moisturiser (big tub)

I've just started some The Ordinary products. Liking their cleanser and the niacinamide is like mini Botox for my forehead BUT I think it's breaking my skin out 😭

CaffiSaliMali · 30/05/2020 09:24

Benefit They're Real Mascara

Ex1 foundation for olive skin - finally a brand which recognises olive skin can be fair. It comes in a special tube which means you get all the product too, and it's only £12.50 a bottle.

Ex1 blusher in 'natural flush' - again, designed with olive skin in mind so I don't look too pink or red

Dermablend foundation - this bad boy covers everything - I have rosacea, melasma and severe dark circles and this hides it all.

L'oreal infallible concealers - best dark circle cover I've found, much cheaper than my old too faced concealer and better than the Ex1 concealer. Good shade range.

Makeup revolution primers are good, very affordable. I have dry skin with an oily nose so I can afford to buy a moisturising one for my face and a mattifying one for my nose. They also do some really nice £3 highlighters - I have a gold one and an insanely pigmented pinky rose gold one.

Lush has a really good 'does it all' cleanser called ultrabland - it's great for dry skin, combination skin and oily skin.

Urban decay naked eyeshadow palettes are good, I'm loving naked honey which I got for Christmas. I love Huda Beauty's mauve obsessions palette too - in normal times I do my eyeshadow on the train to work so her small palettes are perfect.

You've all inspired me to go and put some makeup on for the second time since lockdown started!

Vitamin C. (BP)
Retinol. (BP)
Estée Lauder Advanced night repair.
Glossier Future Dew.
Either Dior forever skin glow, Estée Lauder double wear Or GUERLAIN L'essential natural glow foundations.
Elemis overnight matrix cream.

I love threads like this but they do make me become quite spendy Grin

Mrspeachhh · 30/05/2020 09:44

Hoola bronzer
Alpha H powder exfoliant
Tropic sun drops
Elemis night repair oil
Liz Earle cleanser

Dove gradual tan...tried them all and its the best one.

formerbabe · 30/05/2020 09:52

@AnneLovesGilbert

Sorry, no I haven't tried them before but I nearly bought them the other day!

ChloeDecker · 30/05/2020 09:59

For horrible hormone spots OP, I use Pixi Zero Zit spot treatment on them, calms them down and takes some redness away. M and S stocks it.

OM Pure Glow Cleanser - good for also taking makeup off

The Ordinary-
Vitamin C 23% suspension (PM 5 nights a week)
The Ordinary Retinol 0.2% in Squalane (PM 2 nights a week)
AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (PM once a month)

Domina 24 hour Filler Cream (has HA in it and is by far the most effective moisturiser I have used for my fine lines

Frezyderm Velvet Face Sun Cream SPF 50+

This Works Perfect Hands Intense Moisture Cream for hands-pure bliss to put on.

Bare Minerals Bare Pro compact foundation
Any Boots No7 lipstick.

TheFlis12345 · 30/05/2020 10:07

@AnneLovesGilbert I tried the Superdrug pads as they were so much cheaper than Nip Fab, but they really don’t compare. I am using up the Superdrug ones but won’t buy again. They are not as textured as the NF ones, they don’t seem to have as much liquid so feel quite dry after you have used a few and they don’t seem as effective on my skin.

Barkingfuckingdogs · 30/05/2020 10:12

Someone - for hormonal or cystic acne, try dermatica. You'll get prescription skincare sent out to you for a tenth of the price of a dermatologist appointment. Loads of posts on here and elsewhere singing its praises. It's fantastic!

Barkingfuckingdogs · 30/05/2020 10:15

Hairy - retinol and microneedling for smokers lines. Fillers too, if that's your bag.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 30/05/2020 10:31

Lucas Pawpaw ointment

Aveeno skin relief for very dry skin

Pure vitamin e oil I use at night a few times a week (capsules that are for swallowing I cut them open the oil is very thick)

Waitrose Pure day cream

Benefits mascara

I have been looking at this range for a while. Have you seen a genuine improvement to your skin? Mines combination oily.
jellybe · 30/05/2020 13:05

Schmoo honey and oat range love all of this range for my extra dry skin.

I normally buy from the spa but obviously haven't been there in a while but have just done an online order through their website.

Hairydilemma · 30/05/2020 16:27

Barking thank you, will investigate

Feellikedancingyeah · 30/05/2020 17:03

Liz Earle cleanse and polish and also her exfoliator

ChristmasFluff · 30/05/2020 17:16

Tropic stuff really does work - but it is overpriced by design due to the MLM nature of the company - and as a customer, you become a target for recruiting to the pyramid scheme. It's sad - great products ruined by the nature of the company. I'm also not comfortable buying from a company that is a glorified pyramid scheme.

It WILL close up your pores. But it will sully you with its lack of ethics :-(

Something that is my massive discovery - better than other, much pricier frankincense night creams, is Ilex Wood's rose and frankincense face cream. OMG, a little goes a VERY long way, it just melts into your skin. Too oily for a day cream, but as a night cream - the best I've tried. So re-hydrating and age-defying.

Especially cost-effective when bought with the facial serum - again much cheaper than competitors.

I'm almost not wanting to share it as there will be less for me.....

Make-up wise - L'oriel telescopic mascara is better than much more expensive mascaras.

ChristmasFluff · 30/05/2020 17:19

Oh, and if you have a tendency to eczema, Aveeno bath powder - probably not called that - but sachets of powder.

And a last thing - people recommending coconut oil - please don't use it on your face - it's massively comedogenic.
