Stay tuned..

Ooh, have they got something else or just teasing??

The80sweregreat · 30/05/2020 22:26

My MP has ignored me completely and I sent two emails last weekend.
Both very polite as well.

Roussette · 30/05/2020 22:35

80s that is AWFUL.

Look at this...
it's very enlightening what our MPs are doing with regards to response to us...

@Roussette A VERY interesting link. Thanks for sharing it.

Laughably feeble attempt by The Mail to try to make Johnson sound more in control -

"One No10 insider said: ‘The Prime Minister has made it absolutely clear that Dominic cannot be the story again. He will not tolerate it. If it happens again, he’s out.’ While the PM was satisfied with his aide’s explanation for the trip to Durham, another source said he had been frustrated at how the fall-out had been handled"

"A No 10 official admitted that the PM ‘unsurprisingly had more than a few words to say to Dom behind the scenes"

A few words? What, like 'I don't know what to do on my own!!'

Also quotes Deltapoll showing Tories on 43% and Labour on 38%. - presumably to try to bring angry Tory voters to their senses.

I think I am a bit in love with Alastair Campbell...

I'm not. To me he will always be the conniving bully who helped Blair drive us into a disastrous war. He knows what he's talking about, as does Blair, but every time I hear their voices it still sets my nerves on edge.

HeIenaDove · 31/05/2020 00:28

lol at the Mail Reeks of desperation.

Boris and Carries old neighbours could have warned that witness that this would happen

And unless that witness was the real one who came up with the -laws- guidelines then......................Not The Same.

Peregrina · 31/05/2020 00:34

I am a bit bemused - wasn't Alastair Campbell a spin doctor par excellence?

However, I am pretty sure that he was a member of the Labour party, and if he'd been told to resign, or be sacked, he would have gone.

Mumratheevergiving · 31/05/2020 00:37

Remember this is a public health issue not ' a political ding-dong' as Johnson tried to pain it. Come on No. 10. let's follow the science... A group of leading scientists have written to the PM 'This trust has been badly damaged by the actions of Dominic Cummings, including his failure to stand down or resign in the public interest, and Boris Johnson’s subsequent unwillingness to remove him.
As lockdown is eased, public trust and high compliance is essential to reduce the risk of a second spike in infections and deaths. It is vital for all people in positions of power to follow the rules with the same discipline as the rest of the population.'

I think I am a bit in love with Alastair Campbell...

Did no one see the video he posted on his twitter account earlier this week? It was in very bad taste especially given his past and I actually think this DC thing has pushed him over the edge.

Destroyedpeople · 31/05/2020 00:44

Yes a spin doctor....but still it's a good piece.

SabrinaThwaite · 31/05/2020 00:46

Ah, right - the retired teacher that blew the whistle on Cummings is accused of breaking lockdown by collecting his student daughter. Non story, as students moving back home was a permitted journey. As is the bit about the jogger making things up, as they weren’t a source anyway.

Durham police should face an enquiry

HeIenaDove · 31/05/2020 03:27

I was reading the comments on Durham Police fb page The people of Durham are not happy.

Humphriescushion · 31/05/2020 07:11

Copied from the sunday times. One of witnesses was the original teacher.

"Three witnesses claim to have sighted Cummings in Barnard Castle, a trip that took place on Easter Sunday. It was also his wife Mary Wakefield’s birthday.

The first witness, Rosalind Evans, 60, a retired council worker, provided police with a “lengthy” witness statement on Monday. She says she spotted Cummings in Market Place — a partially cobbled street of shops and Barnard Castle’s main thoroughfare. She claims he was with a “group of people”.

She said the sighting was “around lunchtime”. The unverified account, examined by Durham police, conflicts with Cummings’s own story that “we did not walk around the town”.

A second witness, Alan Gowland, 62, a retired Glaxo Smith Kline engineer, claims to have walked past Cummings on a narrow path that runs alongside the Tees, known as Scar Top walkway, in the early afternoon.

The path is a popular walk with residents and runs past the castle walls down towards Barnard Castle weir and Flatts Wood.

“I am 100% certain it was him,” Gowland said. “I have a friend who looks a bit like Cummings. At first I thought it was him. I didn’t have my glasses on and I saw him coming and thought it was Richard.

“I put my glasses on and as we walked past each other I thought, ‘I recognise this guy.’ His wife and child were behind him on the path. And he was walking ahead.”

Gowland alleges they had to keep to each side of the narrow walkway to maintain the two-metre social distancing rules."

Roussette · 31/05/2020 07:47

I want it to be uncovered that he did wander round Barnard Castle because the sitting on a park bench because he felt ill, sounds made up.

It's a beautiful sunny day, it's his wife's birthday, they've driven to a beauty spot, they will have been wandering round.

On Alastair Campbell, I've never been a great fan, but we need someone like him to push back against BJ/DC and he's doing a very good job of that. His 10 point plan is what is sorely missing in dealing with COVID, so much so, it scares me where we are going with this pandemic.

bobtrain · 31/05/2020 08:13

If witnesses saw him wandering around the town wouldn't CCTV pick it up or doesn't the town have any. Surely the police would have checked?

Roussette · 31/05/2020 08:23

There is more to come out.

The 'cottage' he stayed in is in DC's name on his father's estate. So he travelled to a second home. Not allowed under the restrictions. And... this 'spare cottage' he spoke about at the press questioning... does in fact not have planning permission, nor is it registered for council tax.
Oh dear...

The plot thickens.

HappydaysArehere · 31/05/2020 08:29

Its a case of a habitual lier employing another lier. They obviously get on very well. Come on Keir, we are waiting for you to nail Johnson at Question time. It won’t take much to do it as has been shown by Johnson’s recent attempts at answering direct questions.

NotEverythingIsBlackandWhite · 31/05/2020 08:52

I read somewhere that Boris and crew are saying if it's not on the front page of Sunday's papers, they're clear. I would love something else to come out before then."
Like the Labour MP resigning from the front bench due to rule breaking?

Roussette · 31/05/2020 09:03

A Labour MP who resigned because what they did was wrong.

Unlike DC.
