@bobtrain

We have a decent effective government. You just don't agree with that comment. Boris your fab. Keep up the great work. I will vote for you every time. Can't wait to get out of Brexit.
Huh? Out of Brexit? Grin

You've voted for the wrong party then.

P.S. This is not America. Or Russia. We do not vote for prime ministers, we vote for parties.

Alsohuman · 29/05/2020 14:29

Maybe bobtrain lives in Uxbridge.

itsgettingweird · 29/05/2020 14:30

Bob I'm sure when Boris is reading MN later he'll be really pleased you wrote that.

merrymouse · 29/05/2020 14:33

We have a decent effective government.

Objectively, no.

Rather than agreeing that Cummings actions did not comply with the rules, (and they could have done this while insisting that a resignation wasn't necessary), they have trashed their test and trace policy by communicating to the public that it is voluntary.

@derxa

don't join in with the "move on" piffle. But I'm not. Take a leaf out of Keir Starmer's book and argue calmly. He's not calling DC names. Keir will have his day and Johnson is on his way out.
You'll be delighted to know I am being very measured in all my emails, then. I think I called that guy in Downing Street Mr Cummings and his pet Mr Johnson.

Genuine question. What do you think all your posts about enjoying the drama sound like?

They sound like "move on" to me, and I've told you what that sounds like.

Peregrina · 29/05/2020 14:39

derxa - I wasn't decrying your comments about 'Sheep worrying' as it's wrongly called. I know idiots myself who haven't kept their dogs on leads, and come out with the excuse 'He was only playing.' not realising how serious it is.

This is before the lockdown - I haven't been out into the open country where the sheep are myself.

Peregrina · 29/05/2020 14:47

What do people think about the car being 'painted' with slurry? Part of me thought that two wrongs don't make a right and another part thought that this is the only way to get through to an arrogant so and so like the driver must have been.

derxa · 29/05/2020 14:48

I think I called that guy in Downing Street Mr Cummings and his pet Mr Johnson. This is the kind of thing I mean. But it's hardly the end of the world. Grin It's just the way people post I suppose. I'm not the thread police.

PotholeParadise · 29/05/2020 14:58

You're right. Proper title is figurehead, and my cat is deeply offended by the comparison.

Suspect Keir knows getting Johnson to shift on sacking Cummings is a battle he can’t win, so he’s letting the Tories blunder on and look ridiculous and incompetent. His stance is pointing out Johnson’s weakness and lack of leadership in the whole debacle.
YouTheCat · 29/05/2020 15:06

I thought the car painted with slurry was fair enough. He had deliberately opened a gate to park on private land. It's shit spreading season. Why should the farmer have to delay his plans because of some idiot who thinks he can do as he likes?

triedtothinkofanewname · 29/05/2020 15:12

I have a question.
A lot of the focus was around the miles to the gallon that DC's car could do, and people were calculating whether or not he could have made the trip without stopping, as he said.

However...to do that, surely he must have filled up before he left? I have not seen anyone questioning where he did that in London/if the CCTV captured him mixing with anyone at that time etc.

Why has nobody queried this?

derxa · 29/05/2020 15:13

Why should the farmer have to delay his plans because of some idiot who thinks he can do as he likes? He'll likely be prosecuted. This is the sort of thing the French do. Vive la France!!!

triedtothinkofanewname · 29/05/2020 15:21

And another thing.
Even if his car made it all the way down without stopping to fill up, he must surely have then needed to fill up before the Eyesight Testing Trip which was another 60 miles?

I've only seen him being questioned on whether he stopped London-Durham OR Durham to London. He hasn't been questioned on the filling up IN London, or the filling up Durham-Barnard Castle, assuming that was necessary.

CricketCrocket · 29/05/2020 15:23

Perhaps he didn’t need to visit a petrol station to fill up? Maybe he had access to red diesel? Wink

bobtrain · 29/05/2020 15:27

Just on BBC news. 17,000 fines issued 12 May to 25 May most fines given out to 18 -24 year olds according to NPCC.

Roussette · 29/05/2020 15:27

Course he went to a petrol station. He was very vague when questioned and said he couldn't remember.

bobtrain · 29/05/2020 15:34

I agree with you. The farmer had no choice but to defend his property.

Did anyone see the dashcam video of the jogger who kicked in doors of cars as he was jogging down a country road. He didn't realise he was being filmed. I wonder if the police have caught him yet.

sleepingpup · 29/05/2020 15:40

Course he went to a petrol station. He was very vague when questioned and said he couldn't remember.

of course. Obviously you can check your card statements 🙄

Unless you've paid in cash, but then you need to go to a cash point and ...unlikely especially when your car does so few miles to the gallon.

This so needs a proper investigation, Really fed up with people saying "he's answered the questions ".

monkeyonthetable · 29/05/2020 15:48

@bobtrain Boris will wince at 'your fab'. But he knows peasants who cant parse a sentence won't challenge him.

ZaZathecat · 29/05/2020 15:52

sleepingpup Boris probably pays Cummings cash-in-hand Grin

itsgettingweird · 29/05/2020 15:55

I can ensure anyone that's genuinely concerned I am not enjoying the drama.

I'm concerned.

I'm concerned that we arguably have one of the weakest governments we've seen in decades. Who have no respect for the population they represent, have lost favour with their own party - and we are in midst of the worst Pandemic in 100 years.

I'm not enjoying having to spend time emailing Mps (who don't respond). Emailing a Prime Ministry who thinks he can tell the bosses to shit up and move on (that's us!)

I'm not enjoying being told I'm on a witch hunt, or part of a lynch mob, or a lefty because I don't agree with what they are doing.

And I'm not enjoying watching them lift lockdown restrictions when we are still at alert level 4 which meant we were meant to continue with the current restrictions.

And I'm not going to enjoy watching what I watched in March and April for a second time.

Ah but no country can manage without peasants. Can you imagine MPs doing menial jobs. Oh that's right you would say they already are.
