Seems to me that Boris has has enough of being PM and that is why he is now saying that he's not doing it without Dom. Thoughts?

Who knows, the world has changed a lot since getting the job, personally too seriously ill & a new baby both events change your outlook IMHO. Surprised he hasn’t sacked Dom, I wonder why? A very unpopular decision for most people.

My partner worked with Cummings, and my best friend’s brother worked under Johnson at the FO.

There are a lot of scurrilous rumours doing the rounds in the London political scene right now about Johnson stalking, flashing and sexually harassing a female co-worker when he worked for the Spectator. That female co-worker is now married to Cummings, and is also now editor of the Spectator and thus has considerable media influence in her own right.

Boris has been very absent since his recovery from CV and could have used his health as a reason to step down and escape the clutches of DC. He must have serious dirt on BJ or DC has been running things to the extent that BJ wouldn't know where to start if DC left with his close allies.

Not at all. Boris very much wants to be PM. He isn't doing it without DC because D.C. is the one who pulls his strings, not the other way round.

I think he doesn't want to do the job without Cummings telling him what to do. It's all got a bit difficult for him, and it's a far cry from the "glorious-brexit" leadership he had in mind when he went for the job. He wanted to be quaffing champagne and chanting "We Took Back Control".

He's not fit for office. He was just popular with tories and brexiteers at the time of the election, but the world's changed now.

I wish hed stand down and let Matt Hancock be PM, hes so much better than Boris at the briefings, he answered that question on fines yesterday really nicely. Even if they dont refund them we could see his opinion on it.

Maybe this cummings nonsense is just the step to BJ standing down - that makes way more sense that testing eyesight weirdness. Yes, it allows BJ to say hes sorry we have lost faith in him and hed like to stand down for the unity of the party and the good of the country at this terrible time, etc etc. That allows him to keep face, DC to stay in there, and someone with more skills and heart to take the leadership. Yes that makes more sense!

What the fuck people expected I don't know: this is a man who has lied, cheated and evaded consequences throughout his life, relying on his enormous privilege rather than any actual competency or work ethic.

I think for some people, he gave an impression of ability and therefore competence. His privileged background, vocabulary and accent perhaps appealed to some voters...

His serious limitations are now on full dIsplay. Unable/ unwilling to do the job, weak and indecisive. And possibly this for another 4 years.

He won that election by taking seats in labour areas that hadn’t seen a Conservative MP in generations. That gave Labour their worst result since 1935 and the Conservatives their largest majority in thirty years so who , prey tell, is going to oppose him ?. Is he still recovering , almost certainly but it was only a few weeks ago they were preparing to announce his death !. Ultimately he’s got the job he always wanted. He’s not going give that up. It’s a long way to the next election and Labour have a mountain to climb. That’s why arch remainers like Kier Starmer are suddenly onboard with Brexit. And you call Boris Johnson a cynical opportunist ?.

I fucking hope so.

I think he's got the job of his life and had a rude awakening that for the first time in God knows how long, he's supposed to knuckle down and do some actual serious work. Which he's lazy and entitled and spoilt enough to have imagined was beneath him. In fact it's beyond him, which is now being painfully exposed.
