Has Boris just had enough of being PM?

Seems to me that Boris has has enough of being PM and that is why he is now saying that he's not doing it without Dom.

Thoughts?

He was supposed to be enjoying getting brexit "done" then a pesky pandemic came along forcing him to work as an actual PM. He's a man of slogans not detail.

Pleasenodont · 27/05/2020 12:01

He was never going to be a good PM, I’m not surprised things have turned out this way. He was obviously very sick but he recovered weeks ago and he’s barely been involved with public life ever since.

Would not surprise me if Cummings has dirt on him but also think he needs Cummings to do his job.

chipsandpeas · 27/05/2020 12:01

maybe DC knows how many kids BJ has

Hingeandbracket · 27/05/2020 12:03

I don't get this.

Boris can't fire Cummings because Cummings has "dirt" on him. Bollocks - even if true, in the current climate there is NOTHING that Boris or his pals could do or have done in the past that Tories and their apologists wouldn't just write off with obfuscation and lies - so why would Boris care? Doesn't make any sense. Worrying about past crimes and their reputation isn't something these people do.

BiggerBoat1 · 27/05/2020 12:08

He must be so pissed off. He wanted to call himself Prime Minister with all the shagging rights that brings and thought all he had to do was burble on about "taking back control" every now and then.

Then along comes a pandemic and he's actually expected to behave like a grown up and a reasonable human being. Not the gig he signed up for at all.

Techway · 27/05/2020 12:11

*We're going to out-trump america at this rate?

Yep, we must look similar from an outsider perspective

Hingeandbracket · 27/05/2020 12:13

Then along comes a pandemic and he's actually expected to behave like a grown up and a reasonable human being.

Except he isn't expected to do that. All the people who voted for him knew what they were getting, it is funny all the people (liars) who say they will never vote Tory again - what the fuck were they expecting?

Rockbird · 27/05/2020 12:21

Someone on Twitter yesterday said that Boris wanted to be PM and wanted to have been PM but he wasn't so keen on the middle bit. That summed it up pretty well.

PrimeroseHillAnnie · 27/05/2020 12:29

His privileged background, vocabulary and accent perhaps appealed to some voters ......................... do you think it was that , that made the difference in so many northern and previous pit constituencies that secured him a substantial majority ?.

AlternativePerspective · 27/05/2020 12:29

Well, this thread is full of libellous accusations so I suspect it will be gone shortly.

Still, I agree with Matt Hancock for PM, he’s much better speaker anyway, and I liked the way he dismissed Robert Peston last night, even if it was over Cummings.

Hancock doesn’t flinch.

AdoptedBumpkin · 27/05/2020 12:33

It definitely seems as if BJ doesn't want to offend DC.

CadburysTastesVileNow · 27/05/2020 12:33

I suspect he has a very short attention span and is bored of covid.

Asuitablecat · 27/05/2020 12:45

People round here voted for Brexit. I also think there's a weird subconscious belief that posh people really are better than us, borne of 1000 years of being made to feel grateful for those in power not razing our farms to the ground. It's the only reason I can think why so many wc people are vehemently Tory and are currently defending this shower.

KKSlider · 27/05/2020 12:47

He basically campaigned for the election based on two issues - "Let's get Brexit done" and "it's me or Corbyn" - essentially tapping into the two predominant moods of the time which were Brexit fatigue and frustration at how weak Labour were. That's not to say everyone who voted Conservative did so because of those two issues but, let's face it, a lot did especially those voting Conservative for the first time or voting Conservative while trying not to vomit because it was the lesser of two evils.

Now that Corbyn is gone and Brexit is inevitable that was Johnson's job done. He could have done next to nothing for next few years aside from shaking a few hands and having his weekly bants at PMQ and then retired to the guest speaker circuit. Except COVID-19 came along, fucked that plan entirely, and now the wheels wre slowly falling off his premiership.

Selfsettling3 · 27/05/2020 12:47

I think he ever wanted to do the job. He just wanted to win the job.

YouTheCat · 27/05/2020 12:54

He probably had a bet on for a pound with his Bullingdon mates, that he could be PM. He clearly has no clue what he is doing. We're all fucked.

RainMustFall · 27/05/2020 12:54

So much bullshit it's amazing but keep up the good work, I need something to make me laugh while I'm in lockdown.

SinglePringle · 27/05/2020 12:57

He was only ever meant to be a figurehead PM. Someone the ‘Prols’ would vote for; the bumbling, Jolly Japes Posho we could all identify with (not personal opinion). DC (and to a certain extent, Gove) was always going to be the true, hidden PM. The entire Cabinet is built around DC. If he goes, no one is in charge. No one will know what to do.

Boris is snookered - keep DC and he’s weak to both the public AND his Party (who know the truth). Sack him / accept his resignation and well, see previous comment about ‘who knows what the actual fuck is going on’.

BiggerBoat1 · 27/05/2020 13:01

@RainMustFall

Are you a BoJo fan? If so, I'd genuinely be interested to know what you think he's doing well.

SuckingDieselFella · 27/05/2020 13:03

Matt for PM.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 27/05/2020 13:04

I wouldnt have Hancock as PM. I would not want anyone who has defended the Durham/Barnard Castle-gate debacle, in the process making themselves look extremely foolish

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 27/05/2020 13:06

Those ministers who have defended Cummings know they are lying to the public and are prepared to do so, even while knowing that the public know its lies. I may be idealistic but I want a bit more from a PM.

I'll stop short of saying I want an honest PM as I'd get laughed out of here Grin

HollowTalk · 27/05/2020 13:11

Matt Hancock for PM? I've heard everything now.

Pukkatea · 27/05/2020 13:16

@PrimeroseHillAnnie I mean my auntie, who is northern and a remainer, switched from voting labour to boris because he's 'funny'.

NeedToKnow101 · 27/05/2020 13:25

Those rumours posted above; if they're in general circulation, they can't really hurt Johnson can they. And if they're not, and he's essentially being held to ransom about it, that's blackmail and pretty shitty behaviour. Why not just make the allegations public at the time? Blackmail is not a good look.
