To not pay the fine because I was following my parental instincts?

I have to pay a fine (correctly issued). I am planning to write a letter to the council tonight to explain why I was merely following my parental instincts and why they should contact my MP instead who can explain why it’s important to forgive people like me who mean no harm. AIBU? Grin

no review for fines after all so best just pay up op

That’s some cheeky fuckery on Hancock’s part (his boss too obviously!). This is going to be extremely interesting. I think they are going to let the local councils take that burden off of their hands, rather than do it in MSM. They are trying to save faces and hoping it will go away.
Nope. Not paying.

It's called civil disobedience.

And if it can be employed in a tongue-in-cheek manner, so much the better.

Good on you OP.

The point here isn't the fine. The point isn't whether OP's infringement of the rules is comparable to DC's infringement of the rules.

The point is that we live in a democracy where governance is by consent and supposedly based on the principle that we're all equal under the law.

If the current government start to become too blatant at revealing that actually they consider themselves absolutely the elite above the law and we're the plebs... well, it's off with yer 'ead time, isn't it? All bets are off Grin

This is where it starts.

We KNOW they are corrupt, right? We KNOW that as we speak DC and BJ and all the other corrupt, money-loving fucktards are right now passing laws that will disadvantage us and make sure they make a lot of money.

If they're stupid enough to overstep publicly, then the gloves come off, and the background to the gloves coming off so fucking quickly is the overall corruption, stupidity and arrogance of this government.

Whip off those gloves. Personally I hope that we see an absolute AVALANCHE of people politely refusing to pay fines of all sorts 'because I thought it better to trust my instincts and interpret the current law on X as I saw fit'

Don't take us for fucking fools.

I think that civil disobedience is overdue; and by defending DC, Boris has handed the public a reason to break every rule in the book, on a golden platter. He keeps trying to distract the public by saying "time to move on"; also, DC himself said "no apologies, no regrets". Do you remember who else said that? Tony Fucking Bliar, defending his illegal war. He is the reason I loathe politicians in general.

Perhaps a few hairdressers are now going to take matters into their own hands, and work anyway, as he's still denying the public decent hair (while smirking "have a mess like mine!").

missing the point again op fine is nothing to with lockdown accordxing to them

sylwright · 27/05/2020 13:43

@Experimenopause

So it was fine until you were the one getting the fine. Understood. Nope. Until I realised that you have to be someone like me to receive a fine. And if you are more equal than the others, you can get away with anything so long as you put a label of ‘wanna check my eye sight mate!’ on it and have a Trump wannbe boss. Hundreds of others on this site have endorsed my point. Do you not realise why you are in such minority?
She's not in a minority. Only amongst Mumsnet commentators who I'm guessing had the same views about Brexit and probably read The Guardian and think the BBC are unbiased Hmm
LindainLockdown · 27/05/2020 13:50

You would be a total nob to do this (think you've already proven that point on this thread) but each to their own.

Experimenopause · 27/05/2020 15:29

On another thread here, a mother stuck in a two bed flat with two children was reprimanded immediately by the police.
Some people are not more equal than the others. There is no way this should be allowed to happen.

Why are you confusing Brexit with BBC and Guardian? Also, my AIBU vote portrays a completely different picture than what you imagine it to be. I believe in democracy and upholding the rule of law, especially for people who are responsible for the law and order in the country.

Apparently we should all just "move on" now. I wish Johnson and all his cronies would move on.

PamDenick · 28/05/2020 11:19

"Move on" feels like an abusive DH after a particularly nasty spate of gaslighting.
Boris Johnson seems like the minimising Mother-in-law - "they just had a bit of a marital 'ding dong'."
All the other Tory MPs they are wheeling out seem like Dom's mates from the football team…
Britain is now an abused wife. Hopefully she is getting her ducks in a order.

PamDenick · 28/05/2020 11:19

in a row. Not 'a order'

This x10.
It’s like finding a condom in your husband’s jacket and being told ‘I was keeping it there on an off chance’. And then being told you are imagining things when caught red-handed.
