I have to pay a fine (correctly issued). I am planning to write a letter to the council tonight to explain why I was merely following my parental instincts and why they should contact my MP instead who can explain why it’s important to forgive people like me who mean no harm. AIBU?

Well, this preferential treatment means exactly that. Pity we didn’t know that all we had to do to get out of fines was to hold a press conference in 10 Downing Street and claim that we go on long drives to check our eye sights, hunt unicorns whilst tens of thousands die and are too special to follow our own rules even when we are practically a walking, talking biological weapon.

It is very possible as an unpriviledged individual to challege fines and many other things - you win some. you lose some - that's life.

Yes. Some pretty big ones at that. Like parents and grandparents dying alone. Like parents letting their child die alone. Like an economy that is about to tank (and I am sure Cummings was paid for the time he spent on doing that frigging press conference!). The list is getting longer now.
