I tried to make an emergency appointment at the Specsavers at Barnard Castle around the time he went and was interviewed on the phone told unless I had double vision or floating spots I wasn’t urgent enough and was put on a priority list to make an appointment and was called back yesterday.

liverpoolsfun · 27/05/2020 22:49

I thhope no we should start looking for a replacement Prime Minister. He’s completely lost the confidence of the electorate

liverpoolsfun · 27/05/2020 22:50

Savid Javid , penny Mordant or Rishi Sunak might make goood replacements

itsgettingweird · 27/05/2020 22:55

No flies it's me who has Braverman. She's yet to reply to my email from 4 years ago I sent Saturday, Monday and today.

But ha involved seen her voting record on they work for us I'm even less surprised now.

The80sweregreat · 27/05/2020 22:59

Mark Francois is my one! He will back both of them

FliesandPies · 27/05/2020 23:07

Oh that's right weird, I think I offered my condolences previously. I'm not surprised she hasn't replied - same school of arrogance and ignorance as Piffle and Barney Castle - but there should be someone else you can complain to about that?

Oh 80's, Mark Francois?? There are no words..

Pembsgirl · 28/05/2020 02:51

They're desperate for us to let it go, but why should we?

It wouldn't have been so bad in my opinion, if Cummins had had the moral fibre to admit that what he did was wrong, and said he was sorry, but instead, he sat there, and might as well have said 'yes I did it, so what? Boris isn't going to sack me, and I'm not going to quit, so there's nothing you lot can do about it!!' What makes me so mad though, is if he refuses to resign, and Boris won't sack him, what can we do about it??

I'd love to know what Cummins has got on Boris that he's prepared to put himself through all this, rather than fire the slippery little toad.

Leicester5 · 28/05/2020 02:56

@Pembsgirl I know, makes you feel impotent doesn't it.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 06:06

Yes they want us to move on and keep saying it.

But

What's most shocking in all this is a supposed genius at being able to read people and capitalise on disenfranchised groups and their feelings really thought we'd buy

"I moved for childcare in case we both got Covid"

As an exceptional circumstance.

In the middle of a pandemic!

None of the other stuff really matters.

It's the absolute disrespect for the British public's intelligence and their own personal experiences that does it.

Hiddenmnetter · 28/05/2020 06:22

What I really don't get is why he didn't just stand up and own it and apologise?

All he had to do was say "I'm really sorry- it was, in hindsight, a bad idea, but feeling feverish and worried about how we would cope we made what is in retrospect a terrible decision. I have paid the fine as a donation to the NHS and apologise for what was an error of judgement while I felt unwell."

Then the whole thing would have blown over in a day or two. The problem is the lies about the lies about the lies have now become the story...Does anyone else want to see the whiteboard with all the brainstormed ideas about what lies we would accept about the drive to the castle? I mean if 'to test his eyesight' was the best they could come up, there must have been some real piles of shit on there...

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 06:31

Precisely. It was bad before. Then he came out into the rose garden and spewed the most obviously stupid sorry expecting us to buy it and made him ten times worse.

He's dug his own joke. And our supposed leader of the country handed him the spade.

redfuchsia · 28/05/2020 07:06

DC and Boris are taking the country for fools. Was not convinced by DC's explanation in the rose garden at Downing Street. BBC's Newsnight's Emily Maitlis's introduction to Tuesday night's broadcast was spot on

OddBoots · 28/05/2020 07:26

The story was complete BS, anyone can see that. It's not unexpected for Cummings, he's a snake that works that way so in many ways that doesn't bother me but the way the government have reacted means they are effectively welcoming that and accepting him treating the public like that. It's devastating because it means we have a government we can't trust at a time we most need to be able to trust them.

The government think we need to move on because they don't want to admit how fundamental and dangerous this is.

It's shocking they think it is possible! It's like someone moving their friend into the family home, the friend batters the spouse and instead of the friend being moved out and arrested the spouse is just told to just get over it and move on with the friend still under their roof!

LaurieMarlow · 28/05/2020 07:34

Telling people to ‘move on’ strikes me as the least effective way of getting people to move on.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 07:37

Thing is - if Boris Johnson seriously believes that what Cummings did was perfectly ok why not invite a public enquiry?

Surely independent people rather than Johnson and Cummings themselves agreeing would go some way to restore public trust in them?

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 07:55

80's does he have a FB page. A quick check of ours today shows that many people have emailed and been ignored. She posted a "we are hoping to open ...." type post and most replies are about her impartiality, ignoring emails and asking if that was information for everyone or just Dominic Cummings Grin

happychops · 28/05/2020 08:01

Can't believe they gave him a press conference - he's not an MP just an adviser. He then turned up late for it and spoke to us like we were really stupid. There's no doubt who is in charge at No 10.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 08:02

Exactly. Stupid.

As if we believe maybe catching Covid and maybe needing childcare in an exceptional circumstance in the middle of a pandemic!

Hillary4 · 28/05/2020 08:18

If you'd seen Johnson in Mayors questions in London you'd have known exactly what's coming if you were gullible enough to vote for him
Is he better than Corbyn?
What a shit choice we had.

But, we do know because of cummings and johnsons failure to provide leadership, shut down early, ppe and tests (which other countries managed very well) we all have now lost family or know someone who has. This is not funny and Hancock laughed on Kay Burley this morning

The excuses by cummings re his son are akin to the excuses about tests and PPE, it was hard you know!
Yes , it's been hard for all of use you buffoons

He blusters on at every one or two interviews he gives, and his lines are written by Cummings.

I hope this brings down this government

What a dream team

Cummings, get on your bus with £350M on the side of it for our NHS (that was ONE of his bright ideas) you lying weasel

MarshaBradyo · 28/05/2020 08:28

Listening to MH on R4 is funny. He could not answer those last two questions

‘Have the public been take for fools’ and ‘has the message been mixed up’ something along those lines.

Defers.

InsanityRocks · 28/05/2020 08:30

@itsgettingweird

And the most interesting thing is the reaction from my friend - a lifelong Tory who talked me into voting for them Smile
What was your friends reaction please?
lilgreen · 28/05/2020 08:37

Got a reply from my crap Tory MP basically more pretentious piffling in support of a lying, non elected adviser. Save us all Keir!!!

GetOffYourHighHorse · 28/05/2020 09:04

'both he and his wife appear to have lied, neither were tested etc. Reports of Abba dancing.'

Why would they have been tested then? At that stage we were all told to self isolate if you get symptoms. They did, just near family in case their child needed looking after.

Reports of abba dancing? Confused Pippa Crera's 'reports' of him going back repeatedly have been shown to be lies so I wouldn't get too excited about abba dancing.

The focus now needs to be on track and trace, like it or not the msm have to move on and focus on that. They seem to be missing everything else going on in the world too at the moment, they really are utterly pathetic. The Cummings story needed clarifying not days of nonstop coverage with fake dossier Campbell constantly wanging on.

itsgettingweird · 28/05/2020 09:07

Insanity that they are wrong. That they have alienated a huge population of people. People who switched alliance and voted for them. And it's unlikely they'll recover from this.

lilgreen · 28/05/2020 09:18

Getoffyourhighhorse Hancock and Johnson and Witty had been tested. He could have arranged a test at the click of his fingers.
