i agree but the trouble ispeople dont mind liars.

i mean boris can't stop lying, brexit was built on cummings lies, and people knew this- when will people get bothered that they are being lied to? maybe people prefer it that way?

Inoneminute · 26/05/2020 16:09

Yes, I wish one of the journalists had picked him up on that. Saturday he couldn't care less how it looked, Sunday he spent how long telling us all how we should think it looked?

TheWordWomanIsTaken · 26/05/2020 16:12

Intermittant GrinGrinGrin

Leicester5 · 26/05/2020 16:29

The testing eyes thing baffled me, surely he could have gone for a walk to see if all was ok. I don't know why people would want to drive long distance anyway if they were in doubt.

mondaynoon · 26/05/2020 16:37

I was beginning to feel a tiny bit sorry for him when people were heckling him outside his house but his account yesterday was absolute bullshit.

I can't believe he's supposedly such a great genius - he comes across as anything but that.

BIL has a friend who worked with him a few years ago and he says he is a bully and a deeply unpleasant person.

tinytemper66 · 26/05/2020 16:41

I think the smirk caught at the end was the most telling!

Leicester5 · 26/05/2020 16:44

Yeah I was curious about how he felt being thrust into the limelight like this - he might enjoy it, or feel psychologically threatened.

He's used to directing behind the scenes and people following his directive.

lljkk · 26/05/2020 17:00

I really don't like giving DC any headspace. My opinion of him remains somewhere suspended in a distant unpleasant space. I have more opinion of MW now and that opinion has gone down given the contrast betw her "spiritual" revelation-tinged account of her family covid experience and the many aspects she didn't publicly document.

In contrast, I am very freshly annoyed at the Tory MPs who rushed to DC's defence and have hovered around like King Arthur's knights. DC is literally more important to the govt than even the PM. This is abundantly clear. Appalling naked revelation.

LockdownLucie · 26/05/2020 17:04

See bob a job is back to being furloughed again.

Thedogscollar · 26/05/2020 17:39

Matt Hancock out defending DC, bloody disgraceful. Just cut Robert Peston off cold.

As I said this morning why is he being protected? We did note vote him in, he does not represent a constituency. He is an unelected bureaucrat that has a hold over BJ and ultimately over this country.

The Attorney General has now become involved in the debate to do away with his services whilst two junior ministers have resigned.

The audacity of DC knows no bounds. His flagrant disregard for his own rules are breathtaking.

As long as he remains in post this government's message re CV means nothing. As DC said we can all just act on our "instincts"

Inoneminute · 26/05/2020 17:52

No Whitty or Vallance again then? Have they had anything to say about the whole sorry affair undermining their work? Are they refusing to stand up and defend it?

mondaynoon · 26/05/2020 17:53

It does make me worry what he has on the government that means they can't sack him. Or is it just that BJ is so incompetent that he can't manage without DC.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 26/05/2020 17:53

He ‘couldn’t remember’

Lawyers always tell you to say "I can't recall" or "can't remember " instead of actually lying.

ITonyah · 26/05/2020 17:55

Matt Hancock out defending DC, bloody disgraceful. Just cut Robert Peston off cold

I thought that was brilliant. MH just went up in my opinion.

Carouselfish · 26/05/2020 18:00

Please don't forget the Jenrick slime as well. No repercussions for him apparently.

Walkaround · 26/05/2020 18:09

mondaynoon - it’s patently because BJ cannot speak without his ventriloquist nearby.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 18:11

Hel it's possible that time has come. Suddenly everyone is interested in any past lies.

ChaToilLeam · 26/05/2020 18:13

I just wonder what on earth DC has on BJ and co that allows him to get away with this. Absolutely shocking and it isn’t going to go away.

Walkaround · 26/05/2020 18:14

It’s quite funny to see how many cabinet ministers are willing to make public pillocks of themselves saying with such transparent lack of sincerity that they think DC acted reasonably and within the rules. How are we supposed to believe anything they say about anything when they are so publicly and obviously talking out of their arses?

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 18:15

What did the Attorney general say? She's my MP. She has so far ignored my last email. I could send her another. Especially as she sent me a covid leaflet today telling me if I have symptoms I must stay at home!

It also says do not go to hospital or GP. I'm not sure MW followed that did she?

Mumratheevergiving · 26/05/2020 18:16

Surely the other Ministers are getting sick of Cummings actions torpedoing their public health messages? How long are they going to go on protecting him at the cost of health policy and economic recovery?

In a few years time there are going to be some fascinating memoirs about what is going on behind closed doors in No. 10.

Originally my anger was over him bending the rules now my anger is directed at Gove, Boris, Hancock and the rest of the MPs forming their protective circle round him, the public deserve an apology you set of arrogant arses.

Thedogscollar · 26/05/2020 18:17

@ITonyah looking at your previous posts I would expect no less from you.

sleepingpup · 26/05/2020 18:22

They are tying themselves in knots to protect Cummings.

It is beyond depressing. This cabinet of absolute clowns and liars that expect us to believe that joke of a story.

An explanation, regret, a fucking sincere apology, I could have understood this.

We are being played for fools by an uncaring, manipulative pack of chancers. And they lead us.

sleepingpup · 26/05/2020 18:23

I should have added arrogant.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 18:24

There's a real opportunity here for one of the top MPs in government. Atm they are all being tarnished in reputation. I get the feeling if one broke ranks they'd be remembered for that rather than their previous spouting of the WhatsApp group party line.

I hope for the economy of the country it's Rishi.
