I'm not a Cummings fan. However the welfare of a child when both parents are ill (or about to be and a spouse with CV pretty much indicates the other will get it) is an exception. Get over it.

It is absolutely not an exception, it is a situation many others have found themselves in and they have not used the small print to allow them to break lockdown- Thank Goodness - or the spread of COVID might well have been worse.

there must be - what? 30 million parents of under 18s (thats a guess) in this country - many of them single - if we had realised driving cross country was ok, using a second or holiday home was ok, just in case we needed help, when we were explicitly told to stay at home, then the lockdown would have looked very different.
