'if I hadn't been well I'd probably do a test drive before a long drive, yes.'

No no you see he wasn't doing that, according to some on here he was going for a spec savers style eye test!! Even quoting the police saying driving to test your eye sight is an offence. Maybe Pippa Crera could do a spec saver scoop to investigate this further?

Where is her apology anyway to say she lied and he hadn't made repeated trips to Durham?

LatteLoverLovesLattes · 26/05/2020 10:43

Well, I've followed the lockdown guide to a T, but you know what, they can shove them up their arse now. I'm exhausted and I want to see my mum

Yep you go see your Mum.

Give her CV

That'll teach them!

🙄🙄🙄🙄🙇🏻‍♀️🙇🏻‍♀️

sleepingpup · 26/05/2020 10:46

So what's the actual point people are trying to make saying they didn't go to loved ones funerals??”

FFS.

They complied with the fucking lockdown instructions.

Despite difficult circumstances.

You know. Even though someone who helped write the fucking instructions didn't.

or claims it WAS in the fine detail and was open to 'interpretation'.

derxa · 26/05/2020 10:47

Well she’d be pretty ineffective childcare no matter where she was doing it if she wasn’t going to come into contact with the infected household... There's a big difference between her being packed off to London to stay in DC's house and going round the corner to check on them. No way would I have sent my 17 year old down to London in those circumstances.

Candyflosscookie · 26/05/2020 10:48

The Tories must think the UK public are stupid.

Well, enough of them swallowed their Leave bullshit and voted for Brexit so ....

Ooh controversial!! GrinGrinGrin

Hingeandbracket · 26/05/2020 10:50

The Tories must think the UK public are stupid.
Well the UK public voted them in so they have a point.

travellerist · 26/05/2020 10:50

sleepingpup

You haven't noticed the front pages of every newspaper for the last few days

Hahahahahahahahaha good one. Those trustworthly agenda-free papers.

The type of idiots that see one politicians mistake and go 'duh he broke the rules, so I can break the rules' are the type of idiots that are incapable of following the rules in the first place.

LaurieMarlow · 26/05/2020 10:50

I’m sure the poster in question will take all precautions to keep them safe.

Y’know, just like Dom did. Oh wait ... Wink

If people don’t take the lockdown seriously now, Dom only has himself to blame. ‘Testing my eyesight’ is now a government endorsed excuse to break lockdown. Uh oh.

BeatrixPottersAlterEgo · 26/05/2020 10:51

Hardly. There's been no cases of CV in my immediate area, we live rurally, she's 10 minutes away, is under the age of 60, and none of us have underlying conditions. She's a front line keyworker who has tested negative last week and hasn't been in work since My DH is also a front line keyworker, I won't see him until late tonight and I'm currently in agony with endometriosis while caring for a toddler. This prat beetled across half the country with a case of covid19 ffs and I can't go 10 minutes down the road?

LaurieMarlow · 26/05/2020 10:52

are the type of idiots that are incapable of following the rules in the first place.

You are in grave danger of underestimating people’s anger here.

It is very far from cool to belittle the sacrifices people have made because they were told it was the right thing to do.

No one of any integrity could stand by Dom’s performance here. It’s seriously undermined the strategy.

ITonyah · 26/05/2020 10:52

Did Scotland stop adhering to the lockdown after the Catherine Calderwood scandal?

stilldazed · 26/05/2020 10:53

The government are actively employing people to write on forums such as mumsnet in support of the government's CV management and now in support of Dominic Cummings.

If it seems unbelievable that people are supporting him and 'understanding his POV' and think a 60 miles round trip to a beauty spot on his wife's birthday is a reasonable eye test..it is unbelievable!!

It's the government spin machine!!!!!!

LaurieMarlow · 26/05/2020 10:54

Did Scotland stop adhering to the lockdown after the Catherine Calderwood scandal?

Um, she resigned. Did you miss that bit?

Thus clearly signalling that her actions were unacceptable.

tabulahrasa · 26/05/2020 10:55

“There's a big difference between her being packed off to London to stay in DC's house and going round the corner to check on them.”

That’s not childcare...

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 10:55

I finally got madder than I've been up until now after a scene I witnessed to the supermarket this morning. Woman in front of me (friend A) saw a friend (B) Friend B did looked dreadful.
Friend A asked how she was. Friend B broke down. Her dh had died of covid. She was living alone. No one could visit. His funeral was week away due to backlog and she still wasn't sure if it was limited number etc. Her friend couldn't even hug her to comfort her.

And we have Cummings travelling hundreds of miles just in case he needed support and driving 30 miles on his wife's suggestion just in case his eyesight wasn't up to driving further.

People have suffered. They are still suffering. They will suffer for years.

Yet he thinks a stupid pack of lies in a rose garden will fool us into all thinking he has integrity.

(And no I didn't stand easedropping it was a one way system and they were clocking the aisle.) I gained nothing from the encounter except sadness.

ITonyah · 26/05/2020 10:56

This old chestnut. I wish I was being paid. Maybe I am not blindly supporting or hating anyone but making my own mind up?

starlight36 · 26/05/2020 10:57

Bottom line the people who are responsible for creating the rules need to stick to them if they want others to follow them / respect them. Others on this post clearly disagree but he clearly chose not to follow several of the key guidelines. Douglas Ross clearly feels this way.
I think fewer people would be defending his actions if this had broken when Covid 19 was at the peak and everyone I know was terrified of getting it.

LaurieMarlow · 26/05/2020 10:57

Maybe I am not blindly supporting or hating anyone but making my own mind up?

That you’re fine with being openly lied to? I do find that interesting.

GetOffYourHighHorse · 26/05/2020 10:58

'The Tories must think the UK public are stupid.'

'Well, enough of them swallowed their Leave bullshit and voted for Brexit so ....'

You see one minute we are told politics have nothing to do with it then we have 'leave bullshit' actually confirming it is actually (if people were honest) to do with brexit v remain.

Anyway, as I said the media have made tits of themselves, their harassment has actually made people sympathetic

Helmetbymidnight · 26/05/2020 10:59

yeah i certainly dont think youre being paid to post.

Everyone's got an agenda. Even you @travellerist

I'm talking about IMPACT.

And yeah DC's actions have had a massive fucking impact.

But you crack on about "other people /idiots" doing this and that and on face book blah blah "cos that's real life."

Wink
twilightermummy · 26/05/2020 11:00

The whole situation has highlighted for me how completely useless BoJo is. He's pretty much irrelevant it would seem.

derxa · 26/05/2020 11:00

Um, she resigned. Did you miss that bit? Thus clearly signalling that her actions were unacceptable. Nicola and Jason Leitch supported her initially till the public outcry. NS rightly acted swiftly and CC was gone. DC should have gone as well. The intriguing bit is why not? Smokescreen? Who knows.

sleepingpup · 26/05/2020 11:01

Who was it that kept going on about being 'on the payroll' when the whole crisis started, was it you?

I'm not a Cummings fan. However the welfare of a child when both parents are ill (or about to be and a spouse with CV pretty much indicates the other will get it) is an exception. Get over it.
