A lot of this time has been great and a real eye opener as to how many material things we don’t need. But I’m really struggling now and feel like a treat, money’s tight but I’ve spent way less than usual, so looking for an idea on a bit of a treat. What have you bought that’s made you smile?

Sorry - had to leave to break up an argument between teenagers and then went to sleep

gel moisturising socks - amazon have them

OllyBJolly · 26/05/2020 08:39

Read right to the end to find out about these socks! @thatsforsure - just went on to Amazon - which ones did you get and did you get the cream as well?

Might as well add mine

Gourmet bird food
White company candle
Quality wool because it is so much lovelier to knit with
luxury soaps
New bedlinen

I bought an online beginners drawing class and a load of art supplies. I can’t draw but want to. It’s really good so far - it’s more of an illustration style which I wanted to do anyway.

Really need something for my feet which are so cracked and sore

Fluffybutter · 26/05/2020 08:45

@Sexnotgender of course , it was these ..

Not to everyone’s tastes but they’re the only type of heel I can walk in now !
Super soft “leather” and comfy footbed

A beautiful variegated cheeseplant. Thinking of getting a mini greenhouse as well.

BillywigSting · 26/05/2020 08:56

A fabulous pair of sheepskin moccasin slippers (sheepers).

They're not even vaguely attractive but considering I'm spending the vast majority of my time stuck at home and my floor is cold, decent warm and comfortable slippers were a must.

They were more expensive than some of my shoes but absolutely zero fucks given. I love them.

A tin of watercolour pencils and a putty rubber. Dug out my sketchbook and brushes and did a bit of doodling. Am very much eyeing up a daler rowney pallet but I can't really afford it. I really really want it though. Maybe next month. Would also like to get some canvases and try my hand at acrylic again but I've never really got on with it as much as I'd like to.

Lots of very nice (moderately healthy) food that I would not normally have the time to prepare or enjoy.

Some nice skincare, my skin hasn't looked or felt this good since before I was a teenager so I will probably keep this up now.

A few plants for the garden and bird feeder plus some food. Lots of lovely little birds now flitting all around the garden and can see them from the kitchen window. There is a pair of great tits nesting in the hedge who have been making great use of it.

Quite a bit of rum.

drspouse · 26/05/2020 09:14

Mainly jewellery, especially fiddle necklaces so I don't touch my face as much; zero waste creams and soaps; and some basics in clothing e.g. socks and pants! Lots of socks. And fair trade slippers.

AnonymityReqd · 26/05/2020 09:17

An order from Lovehoney.

Redwren · 26/05/2020 09:21

Plants, a painting by numbers kit, some yarn. I'd do quite well and not spent a fortune, I was really surprised that I didnt buy loads of clothes, messed up this week though, yesterday i spent £170 on a pair of trainers, some running leggings and some pretty tops 🙈

TrickyKid · 26/05/2020 09:22

Plants and a couple of prints.

AHippoNamedBooBooButt · 26/05/2020 09:25

Hand dyed yarn, sewing patterns, liberty fabric, knitting needles, nike air force 1s, adidas sliders, skinny tan fake tan, an exercise bike.... it's been a random bunch of stuff tbh. But it's like getting gifts each week, from me to me x

Make up

professionalnomad · 26/05/2020 09:33

Oh dear...

I must admit by the third interminable Zoom of the day I mute my microphone on the laptop and go browsing. So far I have bought

2 new M&S summer dresses (so gorgeous - love them)
Foot peeling mask and callus razor (Summer is coming)
A set of SPF stuff from Avene (see above)
CeraVe hydrating facewash
A handheld vacuum (so may more crumbs around the sofa now - I wonder why?)
About 10 new books for the Kindle
A pretty new cream eyeshadow, hand cream and foot cream (local brand here in Turkey called Farmasi)
Countless seeds and pots for the garden as well as new balcony boxes
2 new perfumes - also M&S (really nice - I wear perfume everyday even locked down because I like how I smell)

begoniapot · 26/05/2020 09:35

£70 on 60 coloured art pencils. Top of the range artists pencils. They are gorgeous.

Coldilox · 26/05/2020 09:37
