How will you be allowed to meet?

AnneKipanki · 26/05/2020 18:41

Sorry, if anyone has already done this .

HipTightOnions · 26/05/2020 18:44

From what I have seen you can then get a test

If you have symptoms, not if you’ve just been near to someone with Covid. And getting a test is certainly “inconvenient”.

rosie1959 · 26/05/2020 18:45

This virus is going on indefinitely at the moment you will be allowed to meet your family in due course You cannot reasonably be expected to stay apart for 6 months 12 months

rosie1959 · 26/05/2020 18:48

I heard it explained think may have been Question time ' once alerted you can then get a test
It is not inconvenient for me to get a test no matter where I have to go zinc have a daughter with Type 1 diabetes I will protect her at all costs as well as my husband and the rest of my family

StealthPolarBear · 26/05/2020 18:49

Agree, suppose I'm just getting frustrated no one in charge sems yo be recognising that. Was hoping I'd missed an announcement as I missed the start of the briefing.
At the moment you can test drive and buy a car but you can't see your family.

StealthPolarBear · 26/05/2020 18:50

Sorry not at the moment but we know when it'll be. No one at the briefings is even talking about family and friends any more.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 18:55

The test and trace is also missing one important point.

Those who know or believe they had it.

I work in a school. I could be sent to isolate frequently. But I have very likely had it.

I have a testing centre 3 miles away. But even if I can get a test that could be 3 days to wait, 2-3 days for results. That's a whole week of god knows who running a class.

There are more holes in this app idea than Cummings version of Durham.

YouTheCat · 26/05/2020 18:56

I'll not be using the app.

I don't trust them or it.

Incredibly powerful article with parallels between Britains response to Covid 19 and the response to Chernobyl.

bylinetimes.com/2020/05/15/britains-chernobyl-covid-19-and-the-cost-of-lies/

Funnily enough Sky News have been re running their series The Real Chernobyl late at night

HipTightOnions · 26/05/2020 18:58

once alerted you can then get a test

How would that work though? You may not test positive immediately but surely would have to isolate for the likely incubation period.

Clearly you would be very motivated to get a test Rosie1959 but that won’t apply to everyone.

SophieB100 · 26/05/2020 19:12

@itsgettingweird
I work in a school too! I am almost certain I had the virus early March, when a lot of staff and students were off with similar symptoms. There were also a lot of kids in class with nasty coughs, and I sent a few to medical, who suddenly developed a fever.
I share your concerns completely.

We need to move on.

Perhaps Johnson would care to advise as to how we turn the clock back, so that we can spend time with dying relatives?

We need to move on to start tackling this seriously - proper tests which work, tracking and tracing by people who know what they are doing and above all, make laws which consistently apply to all people, not exempt some spin doctor because he can't be arsed to keep the law.

SophieB100 · 26/05/2020 19:14

The numbers are rising: almost 40 Tory MPs are now saying Cummings must go.

mbosnz · 26/05/2020 19:14

We absolutely have to move on. So BJ needs to pull on his little big boy's pants, and sack his little buddy, and then he needs to actually pull bloody finger and start doing his own goddamned job.

itsgettingweird · 26/05/2020 19:17

So is that almost half his cabinet?

This could get messy.

StealthPolarBear · 26/05/2020 19:18

I'm sick of being told "He's explained"
Not to our satisfaction he hasn't

Durham Police have had more complaints from the public which they are investigating: breaking on Sky

mbosnz I'm not sure he can.

SharonasCorona · 26/05/2020 19:20

The parallel with Chernobyl on delayed action is interesting and Craig Mazin’s based on the qreal events of Chernobyl was mesmerising.

What happens when the next coronavirus is as deadly as SARS and has the transmission rate of Covid-19?

mbosnz · 26/05/2020 19:21

mbosnz I'm not sure he can.

I'm almost entirely certain he can't, he most probably still needs a nanny's help to get his grundies up.

And he's notoriously work shy, so the mere thought of having to do his actual job must be just about giving him a fit of the vapours.

Violetparis · 26/05/2020 19:26

I emailed my new Tory MP (red wall area) and I've just seen on Twitter that he has put out a statement. He mentioned hearing from many constituents over the weekend and that he felt that Cummings broke the spirit of lockdown and should be reprimanded. Not quite the call for a resignation but at least an acknowledgement about the strength of public feeling. So, anyone yet to email their MP please do.

SophieB100 · 26/05/2020 19:27

@itsgettingweird

Copy and pasted from live stream (Guardian)
Evening summary
A government minister has resigned and nearly 40 Conservative MPs, including the former attorney general Jeremy Wright, as well as the Scottish Tory leader Jackson Carlaw, have called for Dominic Cummings to go, as pressure continues to mount on the top adviser to resign. The junior Scottish minister, Douglas Ross resigned from the government over its continued support for Cummings. Ross said the way that Cummings had interpreted the lockdown rules was at odds with the vast majority of the public who followed them. The prime minister’s key aide was defended this morning by the Cabinet Office minister Michael Gove and at the daily press briefing by the health secretary Matt Hancock, who maintained his explanation had shown that he acted within the guidelines. A growing number of Tory MPs, however, disagree and have revolted against the government, calling for Cummings to either resign or be sacked.

Yes, it's going to get messy. Opinion polls showing that more people now want Cummings out (from Saturday's poll).
This isn't quite going the way the wanted it to, they thought yesterday's briefing amongst the roses would shut it down, looks like it's done the opposite.
