New thread to continue previous one, hope you don't mind original OP!

He's definitely got some dirt on him Figment, definitely.

Peregrina · 24/05/2020 17:14

He’s just committed political suicide. He’ll be gone by the end of the year now.

Only if you do the only thing now available to you and inundate your MPs with complaints, especially if they are Tory, to complain about how you obeyed the rules at considerable personal expense, but you were taken for a fool. Otherwise he will get away with it.

SophieB100 · 24/05/2020 17:14

I feel stupid, I never voted for them, but I warmed to Boris at the start, and thought in the first month they were doing a good job.
Now, over 48 hours, they've just thrown it all away, just because he can't cope without his best mate.
It would be laughable if it wasn't so bloody tragic.

Well done Boris, your actions have just declared that lockdown is now over. If you get stopped by the police and they ask for your name, you say Dominic Cummings. I am appalled.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 17:15

He's a spineless wankshaft.

mbosnz · 24/05/2020 17:16

Starmer would have to be Hitler incarnate for me not to vote for him now.

And Bozo would have to be replaced by Allah himself for me to vote for him now.

What a completely fucking dumb bastard.

Oh, and trying to shove teachers and children under the bus? Let's not pretend they give a single solitary shit about anyone that's not them and theirs - and thus their 'science' (still thinking reading the entrails) is completely lacking in any kind of credence. Especially since they won't release the science, let alone the people who created the science.

Figmentofmyimagination · 24/05/2020 17:16

doesn’t Johnson sound like a twat now.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 17:17

That is misjudging the public mood. A lot of people are angry about this.

Daily Mail commentator on LBC said 30 minutes ago that a lot of people don't actually know who Dominic Cummings is - mainly the 'London Bubble' who do.

The80sweregreat · 24/05/2020 17:17

Ladies, go and see your loved ones. Take care and common sense bit just do it.
These people do not give a shit : it's time to take your own control now.

everythingthelighttouches · 24/05/2020 17:17

Well clearly most parents did not have the same instincts.

Most of us thought, well it’s unlikely we both become really ill and unable to look after our child. Let’s stay at home.

Peregrina · 24/05/2020 17:18

He also said the claims about DC sight seeing were false.

I would be pretty sure that the Mirror and Guardian would have checked that out. They would want to be 100% sure the story stacked up. Even then, as with the election and the baby being treated in a hospital corridor, Johnson and his cronies will try to make out that people reporting are lefties, or making it up.

Inoneminute · 24/05/2020 17:18

I really hope the Guardian has some good evidence of those extra trips. It beggars belief that anyone could be sticking to the story that those allegations aren't true if he has made multiple trips.

TBF it's pretty rubbish of the Guardian if it's not true but I bet it is, I don't think they'd have published without being certain.

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 17:18

Any ducker I was the same. Voted in a government who's party politics I don't generally support. Was actually supporting them against critism in the early stages.
About 2pm yesterday I felt like a right knob.

b0redb0redb0red · 24/05/2020 17:18

"How dare he put Cummings on a pedestal and suggest that Cummings acted in the way he did because he just cared so much about his son? How dare he?"

It's absolutely gutting, isn't it? Apparently the rest of us just don't love our families enough, or we'd have been super cool mavericks like Dominic Cummings instead of sheeple who actually follow the rules during a national health crisis.

NoMoreReluctantCustodians · 24/05/2020 17:19

Boris has not one ounce of shame. At least shapps had the good grace to look embarrassed and uncomfortable this morning on the andrew marr show

Inoneminute · 24/05/2020 17:19

I think that may well have been true 48 hours ago Clavinova but not anymore Grin

NiknicK · 24/05/2020 17:20

Why are you all so concerned about what ONE man does and doesn’t do? Surely like me and lots of other people up and down the country, you have other more pressing concerns right now. Maybe not, but I know that I have ie work, finances, children etc. I haven’t the time or energy to be concerned about anything else.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 17:20

He also said the claims about DC sight seeing were false.

I think he said some of them were false - so perhaps not all.

Lostvoiced · 24/05/2020 17:20

See I've been following the sensible rules for the plebs, when clearly I could have been following the extra special "because I said so" Tory rules.

Fuck them. I have a relative I may never get to see again because of this virus, but they feel free to swab about wherever.

Clavinova · 24/05/2020 17:20

I think that may well have been true 48 hours ago Clavinova but not anymore Grin

Figmentofmyimagination · 24/05/2020 17:20

I really don’t think it matters that they didn’t know who cummings was. They know what they’ve been told not to do over the last 3 months and they know that they’ve just been told that the government didn't really mean it, and how stupid were they to do what they were told.

DanielleHirondelle · 24/05/2020 17:20

Appalling but unsurprising. I think they are hoping this will be a 48 hour story, let's hope it doesn't go away. I'm struggling with how angry this story and the support being given to Dominic Cummings' decision has made me. I am worried about the impact it may have to future spikes in the virus transmission.

Peregrina · 24/05/2020 17:20

Well Clavinova since 8 million or so people live in London, it's quite a big bubble. They do know who Boris Johnson is though, and they do know that they have been making sacrifices, which were apparently all a waste of time.

Lostvoiced · 24/05/2020 17:21

Swan*

Clearly they would never swab anything. Hmm

itsgettingweird · 24/05/2020 17:21

Don't worry Helena. I have a child. I coughed earlier due to hay fever and so just in case I am getting Covid I'll come to yours in case I need childcare. What shall I get from the supermarket on the way?
How far is the beach? I think travelling about 30 miles whilst isolating is about the going distance. You don't even need to actually provide the childcare. Just lay 2m away from me on the beach!
