To think if Boris won't sack Dominic Cummings then Boris should go?

Boris Johnson will have known Dominic Cummings broke all the rules of lockdown and self-isolation by taking his covid-19 wife to County Durham 260 miles away to his elderly parents' home.

Boris will have known that Dominic Cummings then went back again two weeks later.

Boris has told the rest of the cabinet to defend Dominic Cummings now he's been found out.

AIBU to think Boris should go too?

Boris doesn't "mark him down". In every respect he's acted "responsibly, legally and with integrity".

Goodbye Boris, you dishonest, hypocritical idiot.

Why do people keep stealing this off Twitter and posting it like it's their original thought?

You can tell it's not original as 2 different posters have posted it on the same thread without referencing the other. The one I saw on Twitter was basically the same but Keith Harris and orville.

I would feel slightly better if DC had issued a fake, half arsed apology "it was an error of judgement etc etc" I wouldnt have believed it but at least it might have looked like he realised what impression was coming across. Now that so many MPs are covering up and defending him it really makes a mockery of the lockdown rules.what about people that have been fined for "lesser" offences...?

WelcomeToTheNorth · 24/05/2020 17:15

Absolutely sick to my stomach.

Helmetbymidnight · 24/05/2020 17:29

Boris making a mockery of his own advice.

We all were stupid. We could have been moving around the country, going on holiday, getting our elderly parents in for childcare, going out with symptoms, going sight-seeing.

We were just confused.

effingterrified · 24/05/2020 18:22

Would be surprised if this was not seen as a turning point for this government.

Especially now the LOTO is competent and more popular than the PM.

Highonpotandused · 24/05/2020 18:23

I’m quite a disenfranchised member of the electorate (I didn’t vote for anyone in the last election or in the Brexit referendum) but this has enraged me.

bellinisurge · 24/05/2020 18:27

Johnson (stop calling him Boris; he's not your mate) was not elected with a massive majority, the Tory Party was with him as leader.

wewillmeetagain · 24/05/2020 18:27

This is getting boring now..........stop the bitter, pathetic attacks! This sort of petty spiteful Attitude is exactly why labour/liberals don't stand a chance of getting elected any time soon!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 24/05/2020 18:30

wewillmeetagain many Tory MP’s are outraged too

Maybe you have missed that and Tory supporting papers

TheGinGenie · 24/05/2020 18:32

@wewillmeetagain Have you ever read Animal Farm?

wewillmeetagain · 24/05/2020 18:34

Probably because they have an axe to grind and are using it as an excuse to get rid of him! Look at history, whoever has the ear of the person in charge is a target for the nasty little backstabbers who want to take their place!

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 24/05/2020 18:36

Why would Tory MP’s want to take DC’s place ?

Many Tory MP’s have been critical of Boris Johnson. No leader of a party of MP should be above criticism

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/05/2020 18:40

Why are people surprised, even outraged by this? Tories gonna tory. Particularly the brexit brand of tories. People voted for it. Centrists sat on their hands (because Jeremy). Reap what you sow.

wewillmeetagain · 24/05/2020 18:43

There's genuine criticism, which is all good and fair. Then there's petty, pathetic, sniping attacks at everything and anything! It's demeaning on those that do it and just makes those that are targeted more popular with many people. This spoilt child behaviour is exactly why Labour were destroyed in the last election and will continue to lose any attempt at reelection for a very very long time. The victim before all this began was Priti Patel, she had a lucky escape when she was all but forgotten because of the pandemic.

pontypridd · 24/05/2020 18:47

This is absolutely the turning point for this government.

I can’t see how they can get any credibility or respect back now.

In normal times they could have got away with this. Not now. People have invested too much. Lost too much.

And Cummings has placed a huge metaphorical shit on the lockdown strain we all share.

effingterrified · 24/05/2020 18:50

On an entirely unrelated note, recent research has shown that around a half of all comments related to coronavirus are by bots as part of paid disinformation campaigns.Hmm

Just saying.

As we were...

showmethegin · 24/05/2020 18:51

@wewillmeetagain I think Priti Patel is anything other than a victim!

wewillmeetagain · 24/05/2020 18:54

@pontprid I don't know anyone who has lost any respect for them, I certainly haven't. I come from a very working class background and most people I know think it's yet another witch-hunt by the media and liberal left!

pontypridd · 24/05/2020 18:54

@effingterrified Where did you find that research?

pontypridd · 24/05/2020 18:55

@wewillmeetagain That’s worrying

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 24/05/2020 18:57

GhostofFrankGrimes we didn’t all vote Tory and are outraged because we have all made sacrifices for many they have been heartbreaking but have been done (or choice taken away) in the belief of we are all in this together

Surprised well I am taken aback how quickly senior Tory MP’s closed ranks that is now unfolding but few times can I remember this happening in politics

As as for centrists sitting on their hands it was the staunch labour seats that have always voted labour even under MIchael Foot that sealed Corbyn’s fate

Even if someone voted Tory no one could have possibly predicted the situation we are in now - reaping what you sow does not apply in this situation as no one voted for Dominic Cummings

jugglingbeans · 24/05/2020 18:59

I don't know anyone who has lost any respect for them

I haven't lost any respect for them because I had none in the first place

@wewillmeetagain I think you are very misguided not to have. Time will tell.

MintyChapstick · 24/05/2020 19:04

wewillmeetagain yet another boring Tory bot.

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/05/2020 19:05

This was a government elected on the back of slogans. Nobody could have predicted a pandemic but this government was always going to crash and burn as soon as it hit a crisis.

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 24/05/2020 19:13

Unfortunately Frank while that is true it was made so so easy for them

Now there is a suitable leader with integrity and intelligence for the opposition that shall change. Regardless how good government is managing there always has to be a strong opposition to hold them to account when they need to be
