Just that really. I loved it. I loved everything about it. I cried, I laughed, it was one of the best films I've ever seen.

OP posts:
KKSlider · 23/05/2020 13:45

I loved it too!

I could go into a whole essay about the things I liked about it Grin

Gilead · 23/05/2020 13:59

Brilliant film!

ProseccoBubbleFantasies · 23/05/2020 14:05

Another fan here. Soooo few people I know saw it.
Thought it was great.

LetsGoFlyAKiteee · 23/05/2020 14:05

I didnt expect it to make me cry so much! Even apart from the obvious scene. The ending wow! Heroes and the dancing.

ssd · 23/05/2020 14:09

It was great.

Ohdeariedear · 23/05/2020 14:13

I loved it too. I particularly liked how the ‘imaginary friend’ got more dishevelled and more like their actual selves as the movie went on, starting off very comedic as I think most children see him but then as the scales fell from Jojo’s eyes, they changed more into how an adult sees them. Even down to the way they spoke and what they were saying. It was very good.

iklboo · 23/05/2020 14:16

Definitely not unreasonable. It's a brilliant film. DS(14) ranks it in his top ten.

FenellaVelour · 23/05/2020 14:24

I thought it was wonderful and my favourite movie of the year.

fizzybootlace · 23/05/2020 14:31

Me too, I loved it, and what a great young actor! I loved Hunt for the Wilderpeople and What We Do in the Shadows is fantastic, can't wait for the new series.

But I also felt afterwards slightly angered that so many people/media are comparing our situation now with the war. God knows how many people hid in attics/cellars and with strangers, were sent away never to return home or see their family again. That's true isolation and I can't begin to imagine it. Feel so very grateful for what we have!

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 23/05/2020 14:32

Best film so far this year, loved it, nearly didn’t go cos had no idea what it was about but friend booked it.... so glad she did.

KKSlider · 23/05/2020 14:36

I loved how colourful and fashionable Germany was at the start of the film, especially as Berlin was quite a fashionable place at the time. And then how it degrades as the film goes on and the war goes less and less well for them.

Loved how no one was overtly "bad" (other than Hitler), they were all just people doing people things.

Cried at the obvious bits.

And his mum was such a beautiful soul, I can only dream of being so patient with my DC!

TheMotherofAllDilemmas · 23/05/2020 14:37

I loved so many things in it, particularly the mum’s character. It was great, even when I wasn’t particularly looking to it when I noticed the imaginary friend was Hitler.

Belfastian · 23/05/2020 14:37

I loved it.

SansaClegane · 23/05/2020 14:47

Yes I loved it too. Although the bit where he recognises his mum's shoes broke my heart.
I had high expectations though having discovered 'Hunt for the Wilderpeople' last year, also by Taika Waititi! Highly recommend that one too if you haven't seen it!

iklboo · 23/05/2020 14:56

@SansaClegane - HE'S A MOLESTERER! Grin

VirginWestCoast · 23/05/2020 14:58

Absolutely brilliant. Would definitely watch again.

mummymeister · 23/05/2020 14:59

Yes totally agree. I have seen some fantastic films this year. seems like a surfeit of good ones for a change. I also loved Joker and 1917. all very compelling watchable emotional films.

Trentmum · 23/05/2020 15:00

Loved it. Such a clever film.

Cloverforever · 23/05/2020 15:05

Are you all talking about seeing it at the cinema, or Is it out on Netflix/amazon etc?

Ironfloor269 · 23/05/2020 15:09

OP, where did you catch the movie?

KKSlider · 23/05/2020 15:23

It's on Sky Store at the minute so will likely be on Sky Movies by the summer?

recededpronunciation · 23/05/2020 15:35

You can rent it on amazon and apple for £2.99 at the moment. It’s a superb film and the best I’ve seen in a long time.

YouTheCat · 23/05/2020 15:41

I went to the cinema to see it and it's one of the best films I've seen in a long time. Love Taiki Waititi's stuff. He's supposed to be directing the next Star Wars film.

parentallyadept · 23/05/2020 16:05

We all loved it

dancerdog · 23/05/2020 16:14

We watched it last night, and thought it was excellent.
A film to make you think, as well as enjoy.
