Just that really. I loved it. I loved everything about it. I cried, I laughed, it was one of the best films I've ever seen.

I've vaguely heard of the film, no idea of what it's about but why are we not meant to like it?

Is it suitable for teens, without giving spoilers can someone please explain why it's unreasonable to like it?

TerrapinStation · 26/05/2020 14:50

Posted too soon,

Is it sexist, racist, homophobic, I don't want to pay for something inappropriate

Sproglets · 26/05/2020 14:54

Loved it, very clever.

Shamoo · 26/05/2020 14:54

It is absolutely amazing. My favourite film of the last year for sure. Brilliant.

pinkazing · 26/05/2020 14:58

Is it too much for 9 year old he wants to see it but I’m not sure and the Swearing isn’t an issue we can cope with that

KKSlider · 26/05/2020 14:59

I watched it with 10yo DS, he found two scenes mildly upsetting and am happy to answer via PM what they were as I don't want to spoil the film for the whole thread. Other than those two scenes he really enjoyed it and it gave us a lot to talk about too.

I've vaguely heard of the film, no idea of what it's about but why are we not meant to like it?

Its about a 10yo boy (JoJo) growing up in Germany during WW2. He is a member of the Hitler Youth and has an imaginary friend in the form of Hitler. His mum is hiding a Jewish girl in their house but can't tell him because he's a fanatic but he finds out. It makes him start to question his devotion to Hitler and the things he's been taught, it's very sweet in places and funny too but because of the WW2 backdrop also has some sad parts.

None of this is spoilery and is all in the trailer.

pinkazing · 26/05/2020 15:03

@KKSlider yes please; he’s never forgiven me for the beginning of Pete’s Dragon (he was much younger).

Megatron · 26/05/2020 15:12

There's a massive spoiler in this thread. I'm sure I'll still enjoy the film though.

Coughsyrupsucks · 26/05/2020 15:38

Loved it so much, may have cried a lot :)

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 26/05/2020 19:49

Also watched it on a long flight. Wonderful film, I absolutely loved it.

Butteredtoast55 · 26/05/2020 20:57

Absolutely loved it too. I went to see it with my adult son and we both sobbed at the end. We really want to see it again with the rest of the family but my son has said his heart is just not ready! Smile

ITonyah · 26/05/2020 20:59

I didn't enjoy it. Now thinking I might have to watch again.

MyBlueMoonbeam · 26/05/2020 20:59

Bloody brilliant - best film I've seen in years

TerrapinStation · 26/05/2020 21:37

Thank you for explaining what the film is about @KKSlider, still not sure why there would be a film that people would be unreasonable to like, presumably filmmakers don't deliberately make films for people not to like.

I'm obviously missing something Confused
