The antiviral medication is more effective the earlier you start taking it. Please do get treatment.

Knocksomesense · 23/05/2020 05:36

I've left my details with 111 and am expecting a call back but it's looking infected on my nose already. Gross. I'll try to take a picture after everyone else in the house wakes up. I have a banging headache and sore throat Sad

OP you poor thing, that looks so painful. I hope you get some meds soon that make you feel better.
For the cold sore prone, a combo of aciclovir tablets and sticky cold sore patches is the only thing that works for me!

understandmenow · 23/05/2020 06:40

Why don't you want to go to the doctors? You need medication.

Knocksomesense · 23/05/2020 07:14

It's ooh so a pain in the arse. It's ok. 111 said 24 hours so hopefully they will call by this evening

Can you get to a Holland & Barrett, or get someone to go for you. They're still open as they sell food.
They sell a lipbalm called Llysine. You can get it in tablet form too but it really needs to be in your system. If you suffer from coldsores I'd get a bottle and take them regularly. Anyway the lipbalm is brilliant. Very soothing and helps clear them up. Be careful though, no double dipping in to the pot. Super clean hands when using it as you don't want to infection in the tub. I use that alongside the tablets every day even if I don't have a cold sore.

It looks like cold sores to me. I’ve had then since I was a small child and discovered that if they are really painful bonjella can help numb it for a while and seems to reduce the swelling.

Although I don’t know if this would have any bad side effects if it’s not coldsores

Fucktacula · 23/05/2020 10:29

You've got beautiful eyes, by the way.

DC1JackieReid · 23/05/2020 11:18

@Fucktacula I was just about to post that! You do have very lovely big dark eyes OP.

Suzie6789 · 23/05/2020 11:34

Can you get some Zovirax in the meantime? I get big cold sores (and in my nose).

Knocksomesense · 23/05/2020 11:51

@Fucktacula @DC1JackieReid thank you for the compliments on my eyes. It's made my day because I feel like crap. I've been in bed today and all I can hear is my two preschoolers giving dh merry hell.

I do look rough in the pictures I've posted. I'm so tempted to post a head shot Grin

@Knocksomesense we all have a time our body does something shit and makes us feel crap, I sympathise. I discovered an antibiotic allergy by being swollen and covered in big scabby blotches all over for a week! I drew eyes at work and while out, I tell you!

Knocksomesense · 23/05/2020 13:55

My eye!!! Confused

Where are the sporners?!

A&E NOW

Shingles in the eye can cause sight loss if not treated quickly.

Hope you are better soon.

Knocksomesense · 23/05/2020 14:03

I'm just waiting for a call back from a clinician. I really don't know what to do other than wait

sparklefarts · 23/05/2020 14:07

Oh op I'd be seeing a dr immediately wine eye development

sparklefarts · 23/05/2020 14:07

*with the. Not wine!

Namechange2020onceagain · 23/05/2020 14:08

Actually probably for the best as shingles is very contagious. They should be able to send a prescription to your nearest pharmacy for medication. As long as you start to take it within 3 days, it should clear up quicker.

TinnedPearsForPudding · 23/05/2020 15:00

As a nurse practitioner who works in A&E / urgent care I strongly advise you to go to your nearest urgent care / walk in / A&E

Muppetry76 · 23/05/2020 15:26

OP do you have a minor injuries/ooh gp nearby? At the least it needs seeing in person ASAP.

Knocksomesense · 23/05/2020 15:39

Yes our ooh is weird. You aren't allowed access without the call. I've spoken to a the call handler. Then a nurse rang me. I'm now waiting for a doctor who will make an appointment with me.

My two preschoolers are napping so I'm watching trash telly. I feel like I'm being stabbed in the head. I'm such a baby when I'm ill

OP posts:
Knocksomesense · 23/05/2020 15:40

Our ooh is at the hospital next to a&e but I won't be allowed in

notapizzaeater · 23/05/2020 15:43

Hope they get you sorted soon - looks bloody painful

Fucktacula · 23/05/2020 15:43

Our Out Of Hours has the same set up.

I hope you get seen soon.
