I have about 7 creatures growing on my nose and kind find the right group so I'm posting on aibu!

I'm in lockdown but they are sore and really bothering me. One maybe infected. It's getting me down.

Aibu to be so vain? Wibu to post a pic? I have no idea what to put on these things!

I agree with Crazycrazylady that it could well be impetigo. If it is, it's highly contagious and can spread very rapidly.

Fucktacula · 22/05/2020 19:59

Have you been in the sun? That can cause them.

I get them on my nose occasionally. Not much you can do now but if you get them regularly, I recommend a dose on lysine a day. You can buy from Amazon or H&B.

Don't bloody touch it!

Knocksomesense · 22/05/2020 20:02

I've just looked up shingles. That could be it! Headache, feeling unwell and tingling. It says call 111 immediately. Surely an over reaction. I've also had a.patch at the nape of my neck last week but obviously can't see that

Perhaps check with a pharmacist if you can. I had a cold sore right on the tip of my nose once many years ago, and now I get a one inside my left nostril at least once a year - they don’t just appear on the lips. I always use Zovirax or similar.

Knocksomesense · 22/05/2020 20:02

Often get cold sores in my nostril

I was hoping for a good squeezing but it seems it might not be appropriate. I'm sorry it's so sore OP. I'd have been popping with a needle but then I've never had any common sense when it comes to squeezing things BlushKeep is updated with pictures of course!

MandosHatHair · 22/05/2020 20:02

Another vote for impetigo. My DH had it on his nose and it started just like that. I'm all for sporn but I wouldn't touch those, impetigo is very contagious.

MandosHatHair · 22/05/2020 20:03

The pictures on the NHS site look dramatic but DH's (diagnosed by GP) case didn't get much worse than yours.

Knocksomesense · 22/05/2020 20:04

Just googled impetigo. Looks more.similar to shingles in pictures.

Dh just mentioned I have been complaining of a sore neck this week.

Some good fun drama for lock down Confused

I've just zoomed in and it's definitely not for squeezing. One is crusty. I'm not familiar with impetigo or shingles but ouch, right on the end of your nose Sad

Knocksomesense · 22/05/2020 20:09

I must look gross zoomed in Grin tash and massive pores Blush

That crusting says impetigo to me, sorry OP, I think you need to see a GP. It's VERY contagious.

Fanthorpe · 22/05/2020 20:12

Ah yes, looks like cold sores, I agree. I’ve had them in a line, went and got oral acyclovir prescription. Have you got any Zovirax in the house? Don’t squeeze or poke!

Knocksomesense · 22/05/2020 20:14

Look what I've just fucking noticed... too busy staring at my nose that I didn't notice six of the buggers on my lip. They were NOT there this morning

wigglybeezer · 22/05/2020 20:14

Impetigo is one of the things Pharmacists can treat, in Scotland anyway.

Ukholidaysaregreat · 22/05/2020 20:17

I love squeezing normally but don't squeeze those. Get cream from the docs or pharmacy.

overandoverafail · 22/05/2020 20:22

Look sore OP. I'd suggest calling 111 especially as more have appeared since this morning.

Knocksomesense · 22/05/2020 20:31

I'm actually going to call 111. I think I need some antiviral meds. The one on my lip has come over the last couple of hours

OP posts:
Knocksomesense · 22/05/2020 20:41

111 says to see a gp today or tomorrow Blush I really don't want to

Pinkywoo · 22/05/2020 20:49

They might be able to do a telephone consultation and have you send them the pictures, that's how they diagnosed DS's eczema recently.

The wonderland known as Sporner's Corner is found in the section "in the club" on the main Talk menu Grin

mineofuselessinformation · 22/05/2020 20:57

OP, if you need antivirals there is a cut-off point after which they don't really help that much - better to be safe and see someone ASAP in case that's what you need.

Anotherlovelybitofsquirrel · 22/05/2020 21:18

Until I saw this post, I didn't know Sporners Corner was even a thing! Headed over there and oh wow... there's some amazing stuff there!

Thanks and OP I hope it gets better!

pennee · 22/05/2020 21:36

I say shingles too. I’m on 4 bouts within 18 month so make sure you get the antivirals within 72 hours. The feeling tired and aching fits in. Horrible and you have my sympathies. Get to a gp and they will start going with the medication within three days

StoneofDestiny · 22/05/2020 22:17

Until I saw this post, I didn't know Sporners Corner was even a thing!

Likewise.
I looked and nearly threw up!
Not for the faint hearted.

Why would anybody want to look at that stuff?
