I think I'd rather stay at home

Sorry if I come across as being judgmental, but honestly I cannot understand for the life of me how people can find going to a crowded beach with no facilities enjoyable?

I already mentioned this in a much earlier post. Where is the joy, the fun in queuing for everything, trying to find parking, no toilets, not much open and of course SAND! My favourite hate...

I really don't get it. But it seems to be a mass migration thing once the sun comes out. Herd mentality... if there are so many people there, I might be missing something great. OMG.

Hell is other people for sure, well it is for me. Much prefer a quiet place, a forest, climb a hill, look at the lovely view. Still no facilities but I work that out without being a bear shitting in the woods! Each to their own I suppose.

Leave no trace remember?

MarieQueenofScots · 21/05/2020 16:59

We don't have loos at the local tourist attraction. This is very clearly stated on the website.

However earlier in lockdown there was a spate of people thinking they can use the locality as loos.

Thank goodness we've got roadworks on the road this weekend, no space for the droves to park, I'll be moving my car into my private space to ensure they don't park there - they don't like being asked politely to move and get increasingly aggressive

MH1111 · 21/05/2020 17:11

It’s weird, the people shitting are the ones that don’t give a shit?! 🤷‍♂️

Ukholidaysaregreat · 21/05/2020 17:20

Toileting is a verb. Yes people do regularly 'go' outside and not just in the middle of lock down. Yes we do still allow sewage to flow into the sea. You might wish it had been stopped by now but it has not stopped. I spend a fair amount of my time at work removing always ultras and baby wipes from the trees at the sides of the rivers.

BertieDrapper · 21/05/2020 17:32

Someone mentioned up thread that southend toilets are open... only the ones by the main hub and aquarium - which is, for obvious reasons, the busiest bit.
If you wanted to actually keep your distance from people and head further towards Thorpe bay there was NO toilets.

I dread to think what all those day trippers did on the beach yesterday... apart from leaving a shit of load rubbish behind them!

user49er · 21/05/2020 17:57

I hate the phrase toileting.. surely it's only used for pets? Or do people actually say - I need to toilet?
Can't believe that people don't realise that's it's the media whipping people up into a frenzy - to sell papers.... go to Skegness, Scarborough etc after a busy sunny day and there's bound to be a discarded nappy on the beach - even without coronavirus!

fiveforty · 21/05/2020 18:40

I haven't used the word toileting with a completely straight face WinkGrin

@user49er

I have had a couple of people tell me the needed to toilet. One seemed like a classic MN mum, the other was a a professional dog walker.

FOJN · 21/05/2020 19:49

To answer your original question.... If local experience is anything to go by then anywhere they like it seems; allotments, coastal paths, village streams, the beach, behind beach huts, public gardens; literally anywhere and everywhere. The piss and shot are bad enough but it's the shitty tissues blowing about which are most revolting. People are pissed off but really what kind of person are you if you can justify behaving like an animal just because you want a day at the beach.

cptartapp · 21/05/2020 20:12

DS had the idea of taking our small pop up tent and a beach bucket. Then dig a deep hole and empty. Wees only. Lots of small pop up tents on the beach usually anyway.
The traffic was bad so we stayed home and had a barbecue.

Loving this thread. Apparently we're all having an extended summer holiday and not in the middle of a global pandemic. Who knew.

I really despair

@Fluffybutter I live in London and am desperate to get back to walking along Southbank. However, lack of toilets is worrying me! Is anywhere open along there?

Starlet9729 · 21/05/2020 21:54

I’ve read they are using the beaches as a toilet - vile. Thankfully I live very close to the beach. We only visit for short times so we don’t ever need the toilet and just go home.

Hopefully the toilets being closed will discourage people from travelling to the beach from different areas!

Lovely1a2b3c · 21/05/2020 23:20

We decided not to go to a beach for this reason. I can actually
'hold it' for about 9 hours but the rest of the family couldn't and we live a long way from the closest beach.

It is a bit grim if people are doing number 2s on the beach but peeing in the sea is not that bad!

Lovely1a2b3c · 21/05/2020 23:20

**by a bit grim, I mean absolutely disgusting!

purplebunny2012 · 22/05/2020 17:25

Some toilets were open

Cantfindafreeusername · 22/05/2020 17:32

Errrrr.... In the toilets at the beach? They were open this week along with the car parks and shops and cafes - although the papers would much rather you believe otherwise!!

deandra · 22/05/2020 17:32

"pissing and shitting" 😂😂😂😭😭

expatinspain · 22/05/2020 17:36

Loads of beaches in Spain don’t have a loo. People just wee in the sea. I’m assuming if they need a poo, they go for a drink in a bar/cafe and use the loos there.

ITonyah · 22/05/2020 17:40

These loos are closed.

Oscarsdaddy · 22/05/2020 17:43

Beau ass these self centered brainless morons that are visiting the beaches and totally ignoring social distancing don’t even think about such things before they pack up their picnic bags for a lovely day out

They also forget that the kids aren’t on holiday, they are supposed to be doing school work and not on some fucking holly.

Oh well, they’ll all be dead soon and of course it’ll all be someone else’s fault !

Absolute cockwombles!
