Just that really...
yanbu - I wear a mask
YABU - I don’t

FWIW - I have bought a couple and worn for supermarket trips but nothing else. I probably would if having to get on the tube etc

Daily exercise, no. Supermarket trips, yes.

KaptenKrusty · 19/05/2020 22:30

Grumpylockeddownwoman · 19/05/2020 22:31

@kapten - if that was an issue where I am early on! Gloves all over the verges where we live.

Yes inside shops etc but not on daily walks

Campervan69 · 19/05/2020 22:33

I don't think there's any point at the moment. I have been following all the social distancing and handwashing rules for the last 8 weeks so couldn't really have picked up the virus. And wearing masks is only to protect other people when you have the virus it doesn't benefit the wearer at all.

FOJN · 19/05/2020 22:34

A home-made washable and reusable one to the supermarket for the first time last week but not for outdoor activities.

TylluanBach · 19/05/2020 22:35

I don't use gloves, mask is washable.Agree wirh you, the amount of discarded masks and gloves I've seen around trolley areas is pretty dire.

undercoveraessedai · 19/05/2020 22:35

Masks in shops but not for daily walk :)

Blankiefan · 19/05/2020 22:36

Im wearing ones I've made when I'm in shops. It's not for my benefit but for others. It feels like the respectful thing to do for shopworkers who have been out in public all this time I've been in the house and don't have a choice.

Eggybreadleg · 19/05/2020 22:36

Yes a face covering when in the supermarket . No when we are outside exercising. They fit and we don't touch them etc once on.

Cactusflower1 · 19/05/2020 22:36

Yes but only in shops but not in the park etc

FOJN · 19/05/2020 22:37

And wearing masks is only to protect other people when you have the virus it doesn't benefit the wearer at all.

People can shed the be virus because they are asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic; surely thats a good reason to wear one in some situations?

WarmSausageTea · 19/05/2020 22:38

I’m the same as Camper, but got a couple of reusable ones in case guidance or my circumstances change. That said, if I thought I had it or that I might have been exposed to it, I wouldn’t go out at all.

Grumpylockeddownwoman · 19/05/2020 22:39

@Blankiefan that’s an interesting view - it being respectful. I wore one when picking up and dropping off some stuff to my parents (first time I’ve seen them since lockdown started) - and it was more to be respectful than anything else - didn’t think about it for the POV of keyworker staff but a really good point.

Supermarket trips yes. Runs and dog walks no.

purpleme12 · 19/05/2020 22:42

No
I've not ventured past our estate though
I'm dreading going somewhere where they want to use one
I can't breathe in it
I can't drive we normally use the bus all the time
The whole thing is a real worry for me

andannabegins · 19/05/2020 22:42

No and I watched a woman at the supermarket this week and she sat in the car and took her mask off by pinching the front of it and then folded it up, if there was any virus on it she immediately spray it over her hands. I think they give a false sense of security and are pointless if not used correctly

LilacTree1 · 19/05/2020 22:43

No

I have asthma and it’s known to aggravate it

asthma UK said clearly, if you feel your breathing is impaired, don’t use them

Tbh I think that advice applies to everyone

AgentCooper · 19/05/2020 22:43

I haven’t been to a shop since lockdown started as DH is the one who can drive and therefore bring a decent load of shopping back. I’m just going for walks with DS so I haven’t worn a mask once.

CurseryKinkajoo · 19/05/2020 22:45

Not yet, but yesterday was the first time I’ve been into a shop in weeks. I had a go at making masks last night and today but with little success so far!

I think it’s inevitable that they will become compulsory so I’m trying to find a pattern I can follow successfully.

Oysterbabe · 19/05/2020 22:45

I'm not. I only go to the supermarket late at night when it's virtually empty, I don't use public transport and haven't been within 2m of anyone since lockdown began.

DramaAlpaca · 19/05/2020 22:45

I had to pop to the doctor's surgery today. I didn't even go inside, the receptionist came out to me, but I wore a mask there.

At the pharmacy I didn't, they have sneeze screens and there were no other customers in the shop.

At the supermarket it was very quiet so I didn't bother, but would have if it had been busy.

If I had to use public transport I absolutely would wear a mask.

So I use my common sense and put a mask on if I feel it necessary. I use hand sanitiser a lot while out, and wash my hands as soon as I get home.

Acrasia · 19/05/2020 22:46

Yes. I live in Germany and it is compulsory to wear them in shops etc in my state. It was a bit strange the first couple of times, but now it’s normal, and everyone else is doing it too. Because I walk to the shop, I wear the mask for the whole trip so I can remove it after washing my hands at home.

Northernsoullover · 19/05/2020 22:46

After watching Horizon tonight I'm going to keep wearing mine in shops. I don't on the street though.

Cecilia2016 · 19/05/2020 22:47

Only in the shops
