Probably a crazy idea but planning for the long term that when this is all over and we are back to normal we are hoping to do a tour of the UK with our children. We’ve spent a lot of time in Cornwall and Dorset but want our children to see more of the lovely country that we live in.
Can I have some tips for some great places to visit and perhaps some hidden gems! Anywhere in the UK!

I've been planning to go to Liverpool this Easter which of course didn't happen, but will do as soon as poss, so could you advise on where to go on a day trip to feel the atmosphere as you describe, not just do the obvious docks area tourist thing?

CatAndHisKit I go to Liverpool regularly as my firm has an office there so know the city fairly well.

Go to the Baltic Triangle, it's the old Cain's brewery site converted into a food market. It's amazing, they change the stall holders regularly so there's always something new to try. Opposite is the Red Brick vintage warehouse which is good to have a nose around. It's about a 10 min taxi ride from Liverpool One & the docks.

Definitely the Gower, particularly a little bay called Mewslade.
Also North Devon, again one particular beach called Rockham Bay which has many happy childhood memories for me.

Silverdale
Lake District
North Wales

We can get to all in an hour to 2 hours and I miss them

Bbq1 · 19/05/2020 08:10

I live 15 minutes from Liverpool city centre. I'm a Scouser born and bred. Isn't it funny how we all live where everyone else wants to visit! I do love Liverpool myself though.

Keeva2017 · 19/05/2020 08:33

Robins Hoods bay. We camp at a beautiful place within walking distance and it’s the place that Iv been to heal after burnout from work. Everything about the campsite, the bay itself, I know it’s cheesy as hell but I literally feel healed and peaceful there. I’m not spiritual or anything like that but that place and the routine I have when I go there just grounds me.

I feel such a longing for it.

Silenceisnotgolden · 19/05/2020 08:40

Northumberland - it’s all so beautifully quiet and unspoilt.

6demandingchildren · 19/05/2020 08:41

Mersea island, its so beautiful, I have plans to retire there.

lastqueenofscotland · 19/05/2020 08:42

Liverpool is such a fun city. That’s my first Saturday trip.
I grew up in the Cairngorms and I’m biased but they are stunning
The north lakes

Queeneee · 19/05/2020 08:45

A little village nearby (Marlborough) which has a beautiful little tea room that my grandparents used to visit. They died when I was younger. It’s a special place to me and I’m looking forward to visiting when we can.

dontknowwasmadetoknow · 19/05/2020 08:52

Bbq1 I also miss potters resort- we should have been there next week for our whole family annual get together.

It's our happy place can't wait to go back

Funsize123 · 19/05/2020 20:25
