And no change before the 28th. What the hell is Nichola Sturgeon thinking?!

@sonicshoegazes

By the time a vaccine has been tested, manufactured and distributed, it is likely to be at least a year away. Are you seriously going to stay in lockdown for another year?

If one death is one too many, how do you do the trade off between people dying of mental health problems, or being unable to afford food on austerity vs deaths from the virus?

Laaalaaaa · 18/05/2020 14:48

Not an snp fan in the slightest - tactically voted Tory to try and stop them winning my seat but I agree with her. We’re a long way from ready to come out of lockdown. Also - you could at least spell her name correctly.

SorrelBlackbeak · 18/05/2020 14:49

@HirplesWithHaggis

Everyone throughout the UK will be starved back to work at some point.

FliesandPies · 18/05/2020 14:49

It does seem excessively controlling not to allow golf. They seem to be of the mindset that if they let go a tiny bit too many people will stop following all the rules.

Could be right of course..

Frage · 18/05/2020 14:50

Thank goodness for Nicola and common sense

Nicola Sturgeon is an idealogue and a complete menace.

inlectorecumbit · 18/05/2020 14:53

She is only legitimising what people in Scotland are already doing- and she knows it..
Pathetic

KaronAVyrus · 18/05/2020 14:53

I really don’t see the harm in opening golf courses.

HannahStern · 18/05/2020 14:53

Come on, Nicola. Open up Scotland and allow it to have a similar death rate to England.

Scotland is really letting the side down when it comes to the encouraging death rate. Angry

To think it's ridiculous that Scotland is still in full lockdown..
Tentatively · 18/05/2020 14:54

I think Nicola Sturgeon is making wise decisions so far, unlike Boris. People in Scotland are lucky that restrictions have not yet been lifted (with the exception of exercise) Give it another couple of weeks and England could easily be heading back into lockdown, just around the time restrictions start to be lifted in Scotland.

BlackAndWhiteCat01 · 18/05/2020 14:56

Fuck that, I’d rather feel shit but alive thanks.
In no hurry to go the bloody garden centre.
In no hurry to send the kids to school.
Fuck no.

Cheekychops73 · 18/05/2020 14:58

@TheMagiciansMewTwo you are aware that the rallies were set up by a British first group and not really about the lockdown eh ? Before coming out with such shite read up on it. You look like a clown and the rest of your post is drivel too I don't think people are lazy scroungers or Boris is wonderful but there is a middle ground and we do need to learn to live with this virus because its not the only thing healthwise in the world and extending and extending lockdown will cause far more deaths in lockdown than Covid ever will.

amusedbush · 18/05/2020 14:58

I feel so sorry for them.

You can keep it to yourself. I think Nicola Sturgeon has made the right call.

Mulhollandmagoo · 18/05/2020 14:58

I'm in England and honestly thought we should have done three more weeks in lockdown before any changes were made, three more week in lockdown would have made a significant impact on the infection rate making it much safer to make small changes. I'm not Nicola Sturgeons biggest fan but I do think she's made the right call here

tabulahrasa · 18/05/2020 15:01

“She’s also happy for Scottish garden centres to go bankrupt while English ones a mile away across the border are opening outdoor areas safely with regulated customer numbers. 60% of the whole year’s business for garden centres is in May - Scottish ones will lose their entire stock, while Sturgeon allows bloody supermarkets to sell plants! “

There’s a garden centre near me open, they’ve set up outside instead...

Nothing stopping the rest of them doing stuff like that

PrimalLass · 18/05/2020 15:02

NS is making herself very unpopular with some people by taking a hard line on this.

No doubt the same ones who abuse her for everything.

JinglingHellsBells · 18/05/2020 15:02

@T0tallyFuckedUpFamily NI isn't in full lockdown. Friends there are going to garden centres and DIY/ home stores.

Full lockdown would mean not out of the house, surely.

JinglingHellsBells · 18/05/2020 15:03

NS will do anything, whatever it takes, to create an argument.

The sooner they get their indy 100% and can bugger off, the better.

Ohdeariedear · 18/05/2020 15:04

@JudgeRindersMinder same. I am a non-SNP voter, can’t bear them tbh, but I putting politics aside, our First Minister has done a really good job in her daily briefings. She’s clear and direct and apart from the brief mis-step when she wouldn’t fire the woman who went to Elie, she’s done well.

PrimalLass · 18/05/2020 15:04

Since when has 2 been a "large number"?

Since it was part of the weekend lag and a 7-day rolling average of 35. But you know that really.

EvilPea · 18/05/2020 15:05

Hindsight will only tell us what was the right way to handle this pandemic

ChangeThePassword · 18/05/2020 15:06

NS will do anything, whatever it takes, to create an argument

What is she doing to create an argument? Maintaining a similar policy to two out of the three other countries within the UK?

SimpleKindofLife · 18/05/2020 15:08

Nope, for once I agree with her! She's watching, waiting to see what happens with us.

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 18/05/2020 15:10

I actually forgot about that. 😳 Thats because my youngest is vulnerable and was going through tests that might well put her on the shielding list, so we don’t go out. They’ve only just opened those. I wish they hadn’t.

Likethebattle · 18/05/2020 15:11

I’m happy to stay in lockdown working from home. I’m working class so don’t understand the whole ‘middle class working from home’ line that gets trotted out here.

I’d like to be able to go somewhere nice for a walk but there are more important things..,like not dying.

Also if England think they are funding a country who pays into the treasury why don’t we start charging for water, oil, gas and other resources we send south. We could even start charging rent for the big fuck off nuclear submarine parked on our doorstep against our will. After all if it all goes tits up the UK government are happy for thousands of Scots to be killed but not Thousands of English people! Oh yes and we get to pay for that fucker anaw!

TheLashKingOfScotland · 18/05/2020 15:13

YY both garden centres near me have done that too. You order online and then they deliver - all contactless.
