And no change before the 28th. What the hell is Nichola Sturgeon thinking?!

The roads were visibly busier today (Edinburgh). A lot of teenagers round my way seem to have completely given up on any form of social distancing now.

IamHyouweegobshite · 18/05/2020 18:41

Yesterday we took our dog out for a walk, it was ridiculously crowded, car park full, people parking in the road, we drove on by, found a a very quiet spot a few miles away. After seeing the news, seeing the amount of traffic, ppl wandering around in massive groups, we lifted the lockdown too early.
I hope that I'm wrong, but I suspect in a few weeks hospital admissions will be going back up.

FinallyHere · 18/05/2020 18:43

If it's safe for primary school children to go to school, why aren't we sending secondary pupils. And MPs back to HoC?

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 18:44

Also in Scotland and really quiet where I am. I guess it will always differ area to area though. However if like you say it's happening already how much worse would it be if restrictions were lifted

ssd · 18/05/2020 18:45

@dememtedma, that's the opposite of what I'm seeing here in my bit of Glasgow. Most people I know are sticking yo the guidelines and I haven't seen many people in each others houses. Im sure NS knows not everyone is sticking to the guidelines, but if enough do that should be OK.

bellinisurge · 18/05/2020 18:45

Because she is entitled to. Health and education are devolved matters.

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 18:46

@finallyhere primary schools aren't back in Scotland

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 18:46

FinallyHere

You can't contain secondary schools S3 and above in bubbles because of their course choices.

I say that not sending my primary and nursery age children anywhere until August at the earliest by the way.

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 18:47

Well, happily there's no VE Day spike manifesting in England, so infection rates should be ok.

A huge huge proportion of Scotland's cases are in care homes because of the government policy. Not random community infection. Protect the vulnerable.

PrimalLass · 18/05/2020 18:48

If it's safe for primary school children to go to school, why aren't we sending secondary pupils. And MPs back to HoC?

Have you not read any of the science or is this a loaded questions?

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 18:48

Stirling town centre is still very quiet - M&S and Boots are open but not busy at all today

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 18:48

I dont think that will be solely through my choice either. I don't think any schools will go back here before summer.

olivehater · 18/05/2020 18:51

You don’t create natural resources yourself though do you? Not from the sweat off your back. They Are there. They are a part of or off the coast of the island of Britain. Why are those north of a certain man made border more entitled to benefit profits from them? It’s very much have your cake and eat it.

overworkedandstressed · 18/05/2020 18:51

I really hope the people of Scotland don't think everyone in England spouts the same shit. Some of us know full well what Scotland brings to the UK. I love Scotland and it's people. Some people need to do their research before they open their stupid mouths. Nicola Sturgeon is doing what is best for the people of Scotland..that is her job.

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 18:52

I am so sad. My child is so lonely and isn't going to get back to finish primary. Or at this rate, probably s1

flamegame · 18/05/2020 18:53

NS is doing what she thinks is best - we have no idea yet whose response to the epidemic will turn out best, all factors considered.

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 18/05/2020 18:53

She’s also happy for Scottish garden centres to go bankrupt while English ones a mile away across the border are opening outdoor areas safely with regulated customer numbers. 60% of the whole year’s business for garden centres is in May - Scottish ones will lose their entire stock, while Sturgeon allows bloody supermarkets to sell plants!

What makes you think that Nicola Sturgeon is 'happy' about any of this?

And I'm surprised to hear that there are no garden centres open. I've been buying plants in several garden centres in the past couple of weeks. I guess they must be Schroedingers bedding plants.

I have no issue with lockdown continuing meantime. The numbers aren't down enough yet. I work in a school and we are taking care of the ASN kids in small groups, as well as lots of remote conversations and support.

I go out every day, walking dogs and doing the grocery shopping for two sets of elderly parents. I don't feel cooped up, the weather up is reasonable at the moment.

I do pity the English people, it doesn't take a genius to see the crowds on public transport and realise that you're being set up to reseed each other again.

Good Luck herd.

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 18:54

Hahahaha keep stretching Olive! I'm sure if England had the natural resources you wouldn't be saying that!

Pumpkinpie1 · 18/05/2020 18:55

She’s actually a leader unlike Boris a cardboard cut out Would show more leadership than him!

helpfulperson · 18/05/2020 18:56

We are still in stricter lockdown because it 's right for us. Just like some European Countries are still stricter than us, some German areas (sorry can't remember what they call them) are stricter, some Australian states are stricter. It isn't a one size fits all. Look at our stats and you will will see why. If BJ had any sense Cumbria etc would still be as well.

the England policy is based on London - which it may come as a surprise to some is not all of England

thaegumathteth · 18/05/2020 18:58

@SusieOwl4 is it? do you have the source for that? I thought it was lower

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 18:59

What numbers would you consider down from two @Chocolate?

AdoptedBumpkin · 18/05/2020 19:02

Probably for the best in the long term.

amber763 · 18/05/2020 19:15

@overworkedandstressed

We know they don't ❤️
