And no change before the 28th. What the hell is Nichola Sturgeon thinking?!

schools work to a different timeline to England anyway, there's no need to rush to have an early June restart. So she can look like she's being cautious but the parameters are different.

NI schools likely at home until
September too.

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 15:45

That's because of you question the SNP on Scottish social media you get called a Tory supporting English loving traitor.

flamegame · 18/05/2020 15:45

Agree with @LizzieMacQueen I can’t see she’s been that clever and there are clearly early mishandlings on care homes, Nike conference and testing that she’s escaped flak so far for.

None of us knows if NS is right or not - the Italian PM says they are taking a calculated risk because of the economy, as is the UK govt. The media has been hysterical and unhelpful throughout.

Dinosauratemydaffodils · 18/05/2020 15:48

There's really no need for people to get unhealthy, personal choices.

Yes, it's absolutely been my choice for my mental health to get so bad that I nearly ended up in psychiatric hospital at the start of this month. Or perhaps other people's circumstances are different and lockdown is hell for some of us.

Jaxhog · 18/05/2020 15:49

It IS ridiculous. Because you know who'll be footing the bill for the economic carnage? We will i.e. English taxpayers.

She is hell-bent on doing anything to push forward her isolationist policy. Unfortunately, she can get away with trashing Scotland's economy while we English are paying for it.

Mascotte · 18/05/2020 15:50

My child asked me today "does the Government not care if people are depressed?"

It's fucking horrible to hear that from your child.

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 15:51

Piss off with your English tax payer shite.

If the English taxpayer had so much money why is Scottish taxpayers paying for Crossrail and HS2 when they are fuck all near us?

Aye a Union when it suits eh?

Zilla1 · 18/05/2020 15:54

Stooriehoose, will the economic benefits of HS2 and Crossrail not magically radiate out and eventually reach Scotland? Perhaps we'll need money barriers to bounce the money back from the UK borders and stop is wastefully reaching RoI and France?

Sonichu · 18/05/2020 15:55

Fuck I wish somebody had let me in on the secret about only English people having to pay tax while I sit on my fat Scottish arse doing fuck all rather than working two jobs.

StoorieHoose · 18/05/2020 15:57

the economic benefits of those two projects won't even reach Cumbria

Jazzled · 18/05/2020 15:58

How original Jaxhog Hmm

You've successfully showed your complete ignorance and arrogance in one post.

TheLashKingOfScotland · 18/05/2020 16:09

With 5.5 milions of people ,14k cases and 2000 deaths I can only think she’s thinking nothing more than independence , but she’ll fail again 😂😂
Nothing shows your empathy, concern and humanity more than using laughing face emojis after listing death rates during a pandemic.
Let the grown-ups discuss the big issues whilst you mock grieving families.

The only plus side of all these threads is that certain factions are worried independence is coming closer. If they genuinely thought there was no possibility of independence, they wouldn't waste time trying to trash the SNP.

ThePianist38 · 18/05/2020 16:10

StoorieHoose the R number in Scotland ranged as high as 6 before social distancing measures were put in place, the R value since then has hovered around the 0.7 - 1 mark which is the same as England’s , Scotland has less people than London so the extended lockdown in my opinion is nothing more than NS being stubborn, she seems very difficult to work with and her intentions are not the best for the people of Scotland, again that’s my personal opinion only

GottenGottenGotten · 18/05/2020 16:11

That's because of you question the SNP on Scottish social media you get called a Tory supporting English loving traitor

True! Even when you are in favour of independence but don't think Alex Salmond should have a leading role - because you think it will set the campaign back and alienate some voters.

I know! 😂😂

ThePianist38 · 18/05/2020 16:11

TheLashKingOfScotland- my emojis were directed at NS failure to get independence and not at the number your deaths, don’t twist shit to suit your mood

saints2020 · 18/05/2020 16:11

Perhaps Nicola Sturgeon recognises the different pattern of infection in Scotland? Or just actually has a clue, unlike Mr Johnson.

museumum · 18/05/2020 16:15

Looks like the mayors of the northern cities and midlands would prefer to go with Nicolas timeline too!

BilboBercow · 18/05/2020 16:21

These threads are so disingenuous. Boris Johnson takes England a different way to the rest of the UK, without consulting the other three nations leaders and Nicola Sturgeon is blamed. No I'm not an independance supporter either.

@Nowayhose.

Actually I am Scottish, and I live in Scotland.

OP posts:
feelingdizzy · 18/05/2020 16:47

I think it is really hard ,I'm in Scotland and cant wait for things to loosen up.However I'm hoping that these extra couple of weeks in lockdown will really help bring down the number of cases to a much more manageable level,do when we come out of lockdown we will be in a much better place to keep on top of it.

ToffeeYoghurt · 18/05/2020 16:50

Are the Scottish airports still open?

Hundreds of thousands of people have arrived at UK airports over the last two months. No checks or quarantine.

If Scotland's airports are amongst those recieving all these people, then it's rather strange that they say they're in lockdown.

In any event. Scotland, like England and Wales, never had full lockdown. That was countries like Spain, Italy, and France. (I'm not certain but believe NI might've done a little bit more than the rest of the UK?)

Truthpact · 18/05/2020 16:51

It IS ridiculous. Because you know who'll be footing the bill for the economic carnage? We will i.e. English taxpayers.

Yes because only you English pay taxes.. How dumb are you? Hmm

If you think she's wrong op, go outside and see other people. But don't use the NHS if you catch covid. Stay at home and hope you get through it.

roundturnandtwohalfhitches · 18/05/2020 16:53

I think she's right. If we lockdown for long enough and effectively enough then contact tracing hopefully will both have been set up properly and has a greater chance of working. We aim to keep control that way. Come out of it too soon and we'll be back in lockdown again.

deydododatdodontdeydo · 18/05/2020 16:56

I wish English people like Jaxhog would just give it a rest. I'm English, not got any Scottish in me, but people like her make me want to move to Scotland and vote for independance!
Sorry, Scottish friends, we aren't all like that.
