To ask your Hogwarts house and why?

Only read HP books not too long ago, hence the name Grin. I didn't think I would but I loved it. Constantly looking for conversations about it online.

You're the Sorting Hat here. Which would you choose as your Hogwarts house and why?

I'd go for Ravenclaw - because I'm a bit of a rebel and think Gryffindor is overrated and they're a bit too big for their britches! Ravenclaw is just as strong and powerful.

Failing that, it would be Hufflepuff - The name alone is just 'sweet fluffiness"! Love it..and they're all sweet, kind people and smart there too.

Percy should never have been in Gruffindor tbh. He was cowardly, hugely ambitious, lacking in loyalty, and very proud. Imo he would actually have been in slytherin.

I can only assume he had a strong preference for Gryffindor thanks to his family all being in that house and the sorting hat chose it for him against its better judgment!

rosiejaune · 17/05/2020 22:39

Well I have fairly evenly spread traits of Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff, but the Sorting Hat put me in Gryffindor.

amusedbush · 17/05/2020 23:15

I was sorted into Slytherin and I’m very proud - I even have a Slytherin pin on my leather jacket lapel Grin

Slytherins are clever, cunning, ambitious and, given the choice, they’ll save their own arse first. I’m okay with it Grin

GuyFawkesDay · 17/05/2020 23:17

Ravenclaw. I'm a classic.

Kids are a Hufflepuff (absolutely one too!!) and one Gryffindor. Though I suspect she may be a touch Slytherin!!

LittleMissTeacup · 17/05/2020 23:45

Ravenclaw on Pottermore. I’m happy with that.

iklboo · 17/05/2020 23:56

Ravenclaw biatches!

Hoppyhops · 18/05/2020 00:04

Gryffindor here! I’ve done the pottermore quiz a few times over the years and always ends up the same. I wanted to be a ravenclaw but alas, not meant to be. My husband’s a lovely hufflepuff though which is definitely right.

You can also do your patronus on there. Mine is a Manx cat! Perfect for me, being a cat lover!

Whatsnewpussyhat · 18/05/2020 00:08

I always get Hufflepuff on Pottermore. I see myself more Ravenclaw.

My patronus is a black bear

RowenaRavenclawsLostDiaphragm · 18/05/2020 02:07

Slytherin for me, despite my user name.

KittyRainbow · 18/05/2020 02:17

Slytherin according to Pottermore. Not surprised.

My patronus is a Hippogriff.

Aclh13 · 18/05/2020 02:25

Slytherin because I'm quite intelligent but can be a bit evil at times

LateHarryPotterBloomer · 18/05/2020 06:22

@RowenaRavenclawsLostDiaphragm You're username is apt for a Slytherin actually. I can totally see a Slytherin writing that on the wall in the girl's bathroom 😅

Pottermore gave me gryffindor which I really don't agree with. Gryffindor are brave, I am not in the slightest bit brave. I am very loyal though, so maybe it just excused the lack of bravery.

WindsorBlues · 18/05/2020 08:14

I'm a slytherin married to a hufflepuff

BrokenBrit · 18/05/2020 08:16

A hufflepuff! They love animals and plants and their common room is by the kitchen. Also badgers are lovely Smile.

heartsonacake · 18/05/2020 09:00

The hat takes your choice into account as well

Into account, yes. But if you were choosing Ravenclaw to “be a rebel” or Hufflepuff to “be near the kitchens” it would exclude those choices.

MoonBabysMagicalKalimba · 18/05/2020 09:07

@zscaler that’s all very true about Percy, but I suppose you could also argue that Percy came around at the end, rejoined his family to fight against the ministry and admitted he had been very wrong? I guess that’s a very Gryffindor thing to do. The Malfoy’s would have rather stuck pins in their eyes than do that.

MoonBabysMagicalKalimba · 18/05/2020 09:08

And I say that as a Slytherin Grin

RuffleCrow · 18/05/2020 09:16

I always come out of quizzes as Griffyndor. Ex is always Slitherin. Think that says it all. Our kids are Hufflepuff.

@Truthpact Do you think one has to have every trait/value to be in a house? I was under the impression the more house traits/values you have, the more qualified you'll be for that house but you don't necessarily have to possess all of it, and you can have a few traits of others too.

Harry also had some Slytherin qualities but that could be because Lord Voldy was part of him?

I have more Ravenclaw traits than that of other houses but definitely don't have everything listed. And I also have a few other house traits, Hufflepuff being the next in line. (It just turns out these are houses I like too, so that works for me).

I dislike JK Rowling’s portrayal of Slytherin House and people in it - not at all nuanced IMO.

Think I am Ravenclaw with a big Slytherin streak!

LateHarryPotterBloomer · 18/05/2020 09:32

I agree, it was so "These people are to be hated and Gryffindor house is to be liked". It did put me off and I would choose Slytherin just to go against it, if I had to 😄

The hat sees your potential as much as who you are now. Let's face it we change a lot from age 11-adult. The sorting hat does also get it wrong at times.

Regarding Percy being a Gryffindor, he was brave! He was left I'm charge of all of the Gryffindors when Sirius broke into the castle. He went against his entire family when they said Voldemort had returned (I wouldn't want to disagree with Molly. Shes fierce!) He contacted Aberforth even though he knew the ministry were keeping a close eye on him and eventually returned to the 'right' side.

LateHarryPotterBloomer · 18/05/2020 09:44

True. I actually liked Percy, for all he did/didn't do. He only believed he was doing the right thing and went against those who (he thought) weren't, didn't matter if they were family or not. That takes strength of character.

PorpentiaScamander · 18/05/2020 09:49

I agree!
