Woman selling Tesco shopping slots for £30

www.entertainmentdaily.co.uk/lifestyle/woman-admits-selling-supermarket-home-delivery-slots-to-the-elderly-and-vulnerable-for-30-each/

Profiting from the misery of others or supplying a service to fill a gap in the market?

I think this shows entrepreneurial thinking. She saw a gap in the market and moved to fill it. Its not against the law.

Not a particularly easy way to make money. She has to stay up to bid for all those slots, arrange payment and delivery and do the shopping for all those people. Obviously it wont last as when the lockdown has ended people will go back to physical shopping and there will be plenty of slots available again.

But it shows enterprise and she could graduate to providing a "personal shopper" service with a bit more thought and organization.

@squirrelsbizaar

No maybe about it, she is. She sold her story. She knew what she was saying.

Actually, I'll add a word in. Not only is she a scummy bitch, she's a stupid one too. She's just outed herself to hmrc as someone said above, and dwp who she is no doubt claiming benefits from. So she's thick too because she's now going to get investigated and probably arrested.

You can keep feeling sorry for her, no doubt you're one of her friends, but we will feel sorry for the people she's taking money from.

squirrelsbizaar · 18/05/2020 11:14

@truthpact.
I don't feel anything for her pity or otherwise, because I don't have knee jerk reactions to headlines and believe shit that I read in a scummy newspaper.
Just amazed at the number of people that are quite happy to burn her as a witch based on it though.

Ultrasoft · 18/05/2020 11:32

It's entrepreneurial in the same way that drug dealers are entrepreneurs.

CuppaZa · 18/05/2020 11:35

This is appalling. As someone who has a shielding DC, and was unable to get deliveries for 7 weeks due to how bloody long it took to show on the database, I am fucking fuming. Entrepreneurial? Fucking devoid of morality more like

longwayoff · 18/05/2020 13:14

One of Thatcher's own. Employ a few people on minimum wage to do the slot booking, cream off the surplus, Entrepreneur of the Year. What a country we've become.

Truthpact · 18/05/2020 15:05

@squirrelsbizaar

It says more about you im afraid that you're willing to defend her than about us. Least we are defending the people who are definitely innocent, you're defending someone who could quite happily take money off your family for no good reason. Would you be happy then if she scammed your family?

GenevaL · 18/05/2020 15:21

I think she’s a greedy, selfish piece of shit. Hope I’m not beating around the bush too much there.

RincewindsHat · 18/05/2020 15:27

It's ridiculously selfish. Your comment about admiring her entrepreneurial spirit makes me wonder why it's not occurred to you that entrepreneurship and giving back to the community can co-exist, and that entrepreneurship for selfish profits (in this case) does not have to trump kindness and generosity?

Classiccar · 18/05/2020 16:47

@biglouis
You have had no problem posting on other threads this afternoon.

Did you post this for more self-publicity?

Nikhedonia · 18/05/2020 17:53

It's pretty cuntish behaviour

squirrelsbizaar · 18/05/2020 19:02

@truthpact
I think this thread shows that the majority of posters, are one if not all of the below statements -
Don't read beyond a click bait headline
Have poor comprehension skills
Poor critical thinking ability.
Extremely gullible and easy to manipulate

Finally, Its beyond tragic that your rational for condemning the woman is based on the fact that everyone else on the thread is doing it.

There is no come back to that. So I will be leaving the little echo chamber now.

Livelovebehappy · 18/05/2020 19:45

TBH didn’t realise there is still a massive problem getting slots. I’ve shopped online with Asda for years, and apart from one week, I’ve managed to get a slot every week.

NamesNamesSoManyNames · 18/05/2020 20:31

Livelovebehappy I think it depends where you live. Tesco, Sainsbury, Asda have all sold out here for both delivery and C+C since March. No slots for the next three weeks.
I don't need to home shop, though.

NamesNamesSoManyNames · 18/05/2020 20:31

I think squirrelsbizaar may be the woman in question.

Wendigogo · 18/05/2020 21:24

Sorry, @squirrelsbizaar but just because you think people lack critical thinking doesn't make it so.

This woman is profiteering from reselling a valuable resource, by allowing people with the means to do so to pay a premium to safely obtain food.

Yes she's doing it on a small scale currently but what if other profiteers are encouraged by her scheme, that she decided to publicize? Would it be ethical or desirable for a handful of people to accumulate delivery slots, preventing others from obtaining them, to resell at a tidy profit?

Should only people which sufficient means, able to pay the 'community helper', be able to get food delivered?

Should Tesco just make it an auction system? Would that be okay?

What she is doing is barely any different to hoarding hand sanitizer or toilet roll.
