Woman selling Tesco shopping slots for £30

www.entertainmentdaily.co.uk/lifestyle/woman-admits-selling-supermarket-home-delivery-slots-to-the-elderly-and-vulnerable-for-30-each/

Profiting from the misery of others or supplying a service to fill a gap in the market?

I think this shows entrepreneurial thinking. She saw a gap in the market and moved to fill it. Its not against the law.

Not a particularly easy way to make money. She has to stay up to bid for all those slots, arrange payment and delivery and do the shopping for all those people. Obviously it wont last as when the lockdown has ended people will go back to physical shopping and there will be plenty of slots available again.

But it shows enterprise and she could graduate to providing a "personal shopper" service with a bit more thought and organization.

She's a piss taker. End of.

ilovesooty · 17/05/2020 02:26

@BubblyBarbara so you think her behaviour is OK then?

Itwasntme1 · 17/05/2020 02:28

But surely Tesco only allows you to book one slot a week?

ilovesooty · 17/05/2020 02:30

The article says she uses several people's accounts and several supermarkets.

Lynda07 · 17/05/2020 02:43

It's ridiculous because it isn't difficult to get shopping slots if you try all supermarkets. I do that and so far have had no trouble getting a slot somewhere.

I don't blame anyone for trying to make some money at any time but £30 is a bit steep, is it not? Imagine having £30 added to your shopping bill - for nothing. No need for that at all.

SunflowerSeedsForever · 17/05/2020 02:46

Lucky you- it isn't the same everywhere.

I have no problem getting slots here-in a town-booked up to 5th June with lots of choice.

My mother is 30 miles away and can only get extremely vulnerable slots released 3 days in advance. She has long standing accounts with 3 different stores. She lives rurally-only 3 deliver historically.

Pixieblu · 17/05/2020 03:05

Absolutely disgusting and sad that Tesco allows it.

Sparkesocks put it very succinctly, if you are profiting off people's misery you need to review your ethics.

Even more disgusting is that her account has bot been suspended

OgoPogo8 · 17/05/2020 03:19

Incredibly scummy behavior, I hope she's jailed.

OgoPogo8 · 17/05/2020 03:23

Not sure the UK has anti price-gouging laws though...

Still, what an absolute piece of shit.

nanny2012nanny · 17/05/2020 03:29

I think it’s appalling and it’s because of selfish people like her I am out every day shopping for my family and my community.

HannaH021 · 17/05/2020 03:39

The system is stupid enough to not put a limit over the number of times an account can order per week.

It is exploitation and a disgusting behaviour to be selling it... They would have been able to order by themselves if idiots who didnt feel like queuing left these slots for them, and nasty/vile ppl like her trying to profiteer from other ppl's misery

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 17/05/2020 03:52

Profiteering is illegal in the UK.
She should be prosecuted.

AintOverUntilTheCatLadySings · 17/05/2020 03:55

Tesco have introduced a measure to stop you changing your delivery address after booking so she won't be able to sell those now.

Aclh13 · 17/05/2020 04:14

Charging a slight upcharge on the slots would be reasonable during this period but £30 a whole weeks shop for a couple is crazy especially with many furlough Ed or on benefits because of the current economical situation is crazy. I could understand if she was queuing for people irl in the mornings for like £5 an hour but not online slots.

Chicchicchicchiclana · 17/05/2020 04:23

I think our friend biglouis is enjoying the wind-up. I'd suggest you don't click on the article and add to their satisfaction.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 17/05/2020 04:26

Is there t only me who is curious about the shoys Tesco is selling?

Pixxie7 · 17/05/2020 04:30

Completely selfish no slots near me for at least 4 weeks, I don’t know how she is doing it.

Onesnowynight · 17/05/2020 04:31

That’s what you call scum of the earth

antipodalpizza · 17/05/2020 04:35

She is a cunt

Steady on there, a cunt at least has redeeming features.

Mummyoflittledragon · 17/05/2020 05:20

I’ve got Tesco, Morrison’s, Asda and Iceland accounts set up for family. I managed to get delivery savers with a couple and I’ve been doing that for free.

I suppose it is a way of making money if these people shes exploiting can afford it. However, £30 is outrageous. I think it could be more easily swallowed if it was £10 as that would represent the amount of effort she went through to get them. Arrogance personified.

sashh · 17/05/2020 05:23

I've had one Tesco delivery since lockdown - it was booked before then. I can't get a slot. I've used online shopping exclusivwely with Tesco for years.

Iceland have been a life line. They don't let you book multiple slots, if you do then they say they will cancell all but the first one.

IMHO all supermarkets should be doing that.

mathanxiety · 17/05/2020 05:23

What a parasite.

Thepigeonsarecoming · 17/05/2020 05:27

I completely despair, yep despair you hear me say Tesco shopping shoys

Oh my god think of the children!

Reallynowdear · 17/05/2020 05:35

Poor behaviour

nettie434 · 17/05/2020 05:55

Even more disgusting is that her account has bot been suspended

I agree but presumably as she is using different people's accounts it will be hard to identify her? There clearly was a need for a service that would help people set up online shopping accounts but not one that bypasses systems set up to prioritise vulnerable people.

It did not come across well that she was using the money she made to buy Prosecco and plan an expensive holiday.
