Something to lighten lockdown a bit. I love uniforms, didn’t have them in my country growing up and I think they’re wonderful!

I think Christ’s Hospital probably has the weirdest.

Hill House International and Garden House School have very sweet ones, with GHS being pretty much what I dreamed of when imaging English schools.

I grew up in Australia and my summer uniform dress was almost same as Home & Away's - this is a standard look for Australia, very comfy and cool in the heat. In winter was pleated wool skirt and blouse.
Here in London I loved Blackheath's Pointer School uniform so much I almost sent my daughter there because of it. It's a very distinctive and pretty purple and dark green plaid with pale lavender blouses - just gorgeous!

I can’t believe that Red Maid’s School uniform. They literally do look like Red Maids! Who would send their child there?

And that other one QE Hospital looks like the Christ’s Hospital uniform. DD knows a girl that went there. They look like loons and they must know it. What are they playing at?

CatBatCat · 16/05/2020 11:26

My secondary was bottle green with a gold Griffin logo. The original Griffindor Grin

Kinda proves my theory that people are prepared to pay any amount of money for any old shit no matter how embarrassing, impractical and uncomfortable it all is, based on nothing more than pure snobbery. No wonder so many are against non uniform or generic all supermarket non-logo stuff...

That uniform is highly degrading

LuckyMarmiteLover · 16/05/2020 12:20

The Redmaids’ and QEH uniforms are for a few students on ceremonial days only! They wear a normal uniform the rest of the time Grin

Delta1 · 16/05/2020 16:05

Not degrading in the slightest! It's an acknowledgement of its origins and history during formal occasions! A nod to the founders who enabled girls to get a decent education.

I’ve just found the uniform for Knighton House Prep (via this article: www.independentschoolparent.com/school/fancy-dress-school-uniforms-with-a-story/) and I’m in love! Red dungarees!!

I like Australian ones. One of my friends at school moved there when we were about 14 We found it highly amusing that she wore a checked sun dress into sixth form, when in the UK sun dresses stop at primary school. The girls in our year at school thought we would start a campaign to be allowed to wear checked dresses in summer with white socks, like our pal in Aus, instead of the usual skirt, wool blazer, shirt and tie combo. The headmaster told us to stop being ridiculous. We did start wearing white knee socks though, as a small act of rebellion.

Ah Poland. Just wondered. I like my daughter's school uniform. She attends a private school and it's very retro. Think red cardigan, shirt and pinafore. The straw boater sets it off nicely.

mathanxiety · 18/05/2020 01:20

Hedley Park Montessori School, Dublin, has a very Madeline-esque uniform for the girls.

maybelou · 18/05/2020 01:25

omg this is a bit outing but Christ's Hospital was my school!! 😂 i love seeing it pop up in unexpected places it's such a thrill!

Purpletigers · 18/05/2020 01:49

Inchmarlo prep in Belfast has a lovely uniform .
As does Hunterhouse and Victoria College .

Purpletigers · 18/05/2020 01:51

Some of these are hideous. Just shows you can’t buy taste .

yelyah22 · 18/05/2020 09:29

My secondary school uniform was brown and gold - I thought it was awful at the time but actually I think it's one of the nicer ones in the area now. They brought in lovely brown kilts after I left too.

Abbazed · 18/05/2020 17:58

My eldest at Grammar school. They have kilts. Not a fan of kilts...
