To think farrow and ball isn't the best paint? What's the best

I have used them for years but recently feel that their paints haven't had a truly through through pigment
I use their more hard wearing paint but haven't been amazed

I want a dusty old fashioned pink bedroom and want to paint it

Any tips?

Or is farrow and ball the best?

Our house had been refurbished when we bought it, and painted throughout in Johnstone's (the matt one). It lasted really really well. Upstairs hasn't been repainted yet, 14 years on.
When we redid downstairs 7 years ago it was the Wickes own paint, and that has lasted perfectly well, though the colours are less subtle than f&b, LG etc.

I got Sanderson Paint in the end in Rose Ash

Its here now but the walls are a state so I have got to motivate my husband to line them properly .. wonder what I'll have to do 😁

@MrsKoala
I have no freshly plastered walls to comment on.

My decorator now uses it in all situations though.

Thanks. I really wanted the Valspar to be good because we love the colours and finish. I just am wondering with so many people raving about it if we are putting it on wrong.

I’ve attached 2 pics of the blue bedroom 1 where the Landry bin was touching the wall and 1 where a chair back was. The green pic was where a corner of a mirror was leaning.

The yellow is the hallway covered in finger marks which have never wiped off. The red gets chipped so often I’m regularly touching it up and now looks patchy so needs to be completely repainted. No idea what touched the pale green wall as that chip is tucked away where there is no footfall.

I’m wondering if it’s too many coats which has made it brittle?

Mylands is 100 times better than farrow and ball, it’s much thicker, has crushed marble in so is a lot more durable, has better pigment, is easier to work with and also changes colour in the light. We used F&B in one of our bedrooms to see what all the fuss was about and it really doesn’t compare to Mylands, I’m glad we got it reduced from B&Q because we needed twice the amount of paint we thought we would as it was so thin. The colour is nice, I will give it that, but Mylands and Little Green have equally nice colours for the same price without being thin and watery.

We recently used Midlands for our kitchen diner after using it in our bedroom and our builder was initially very skeptical as he’s “been asked to use expensive paints like farrow and ball before and they’re not worth the money and are a nightmare to work with”, after using it he said he’s converted, he was really impressed that on fresh plaster (with a white emulsion mist coat) it only needed two coats, and used half the amount of paint he thought he would need, said it’s definitely worth the money.
