To think you can't reserve places in the Aldi queue

Another shopper had placed their bags in the queue before wandering off to get the trolley.

They expected to return to where the bags were rather than go to the end of the queue.

Were they being a bit CF?

I don’t know what the Aldi queuing system is. Do you get your trolley first?

Carolduckingbaskin · 10/05/2020 11:30

Hmmm bit on the fence. I get my trolley first and then get in the queue. Many get in the queue then grab their trolley as you approach the front where the trolleys are, which is sort of reserving your space, but once you’ve already queued.
It seems slightly cheekier than either of those options, but not sure it’s cf territory really

usernotknown · 10/05/2020 11:30

I couldn't get worked up about this.

funnylittlefloozie · 10/05/2020 11:31

Bags dont queue! Get your trolley when you enter the shop. That said, i haven't queued at Aldi for a couple of weeks, because i've found the quiet time at my local branch.

NiceLegsShameAboutTheFace · 10/05/2020 11:31

Sounds fair enough to me. They went to get a trolley: not on a day trip to Alton Towers.

usernotknown · 10/05/2020 11:32

She probably got in the queue then thought , shit I need a bloody trolley.

Sparklingbrook · 10/05/2020 11:33

I think that’s fair enough. She needed a trolley so went to get one. Must have taken seconds.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 10/05/2020 11:35

Seems fair enough to me tbh.

ECBC · 10/05/2020 11:36

YABU

WeakAndWeary · 10/05/2020 11:36

Seriously? You care enough about this to actually start a thread about it? How can you care so much about this?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 10/05/2020 11:36

Trolleys at our nearest supermarket are no where near the queue. So you would look a bit silly trying to get one after queuing. So depends on the layout really.b

ilovesooty · 10/05/2020 11:39

Did you have somewhere vital to go yourself that this bothered you so much? Did it bother you enough to say something?

iklboo · 10/05/2020 11:43

I couldn't get worked up about nipping to get a trolley. It's not like they put their bags there and fecked off to another shop.

CodenameVillanelle · 10/05/2020 11:44

I think that's Ok. She got in the queue didn't she?

ginsparkles · 10/05/2020 11:45

At ours you would have to do this, otherwise you would be crossing between people and not adhering to the two metres when you fetched your trolley, so we queue, and then when we pass the trolleys, you put your bags down, and pop to get your trolley.

InfiniteSheldon · 10/05/2020 11:45

That's fine why would you have a problem with that ffs

ChippyMinton · 10/05/2020 11:46

I think you need to tell us how many people joined after the bags were put down, in the interests of judging fairly.

Or not.

opticaldelusion · 10/05/2020 11:48

Shoot her. The bitch.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 10/05/2020 11:51

Woman two up from me in the queue asked if the couple behind her could save her place as she'd left her bank card in the car.Noone commented I think youd have to be a bit of a twat to do so in those circumstances.

Doyoumind · 10/05/2020 11:51

Come on. They put the bags down and came back one minute later with the trolley? This is not something to get worked up about.

TrickyKid · 10/05/2020 11:52

Wouldn't bother me.

Lifeisdinky · 10/05/2020 11:58

I did this yesterday, been in queue 5-10 mins when i realised shopping bag wasn't in my handbag. Spoke to man behind me in queue, ran back to my car (150 yards away) got my bag and returned to queue.
No-one said anything and man behind had left required space so i could rejoin safely.

topcat2014 · 10/05/2020 11:59

About 5 people were behind the bags so to speak.

It is trivial of course but then I am stuck indoors with just a phone for amusement..

Our Aldi is a weird layout with trolleys not near the entrance

YANBU. I’d move the bags to the side and show her the back of the queue when she returned.

TimeWastingButFun · 10/05/2020 12:00

My local supermarket has the trollies at the door so I get one as I go in. But others have them elsewhere and I wouldn't dream of leaving the bags as a place marker. Last week I left my bags in the car and didn't realise till I was nearly at the front but I'd have been too embarrassed to try to reserve my space so went to the back of the queue.
